I've only been on here for a few days and have only reached page 12 but have already so many ideas and tips..i should get to the end by Christmas..about ten years ago i did a 12 days of christmas where i bought my oh and daughter(who was about 5 at the time)their normal christmas presents and we do a boxing day one as well..after that i had for them a small present each day up to the 12th day..it wasn't anything expensive..a candle,a notepad, smellies that sort of thing for about a couple of quid each so around £50 pound would cover the lot..this year i was thinking of doing it again but with a connection with the song..anybody got any ideas what could be used to replace things like 3 french hens,5 gold rings etc..failing that i'll just revert to silly small but useful things..£land here i come...it keeps christmas going that bit longer for them..daughter will be nearly 16 by the time christmas comes so something for a teenager will be more difficult i should think.
How about a wooden whistle they sell a Xmas one in pound land!! For your daughter how about 5 costume rings? A skipping rope for the lords leaping!! A cow teddy for maids milking!! Haha sorry about that couldn't really think of anything else!!
Could look here http://www.poundland.co.uk/product-range/special-occasions/christmas/0 -

Marliesmommy check out the pots of gold thread (type into search engine) ITs a way of adding to vouchers etc its basically a pot filled with gold items/chocolates eg ferreros, coins etc and then you attach a poem about wealth and good luck
Re coins and dressing them up sorry no idea but some other fab person on the site will be able to help0 -
:rotfl:I haven't caught up yet so forgive the butting in random post but I got my Cello bags this morning so I decided to separate the Hotel Chocolat stuff to see how many gifts it would make and just because I am a little poorly with tonsilitis I wanted something fun to do.
Anyways I have made 8 little bags of presents total they will be used as follows
to go with our Christmas Eve Hamper (2 slabs and 1 milk chocolate batons).
1 reindeer poop, 1 dark chocolate batons in mum & bf's hamper
1 4 selection & 1 reindeer poops with photo of baby in frame to step dad and gf
1 4 selection with photo of baby in frame to BIL & SIL
and can you tell me if they look ok? I don't know how people make posh labels so didn't worry with that this year but will research more for next.
Each item cost £1.18 inc the bag.
The cheapest item on Hotel Chocolat website is £1.50 (http://www.hotelchocolat.co.uk/Baby-shower-chocolates-P111218/)
and usually you would pay £3.50 for a slab which hubby and I now have for our hamper for £1.18.
So I definitely think this idea what fabulous.
P.s Just noticed they have Christmas stuff on their website
P.P.s If I hadn't eaten 4 chocolates in the process that would have been 9 gifts at £1.05 :rotfl:Everything is always better after a cup of tea0 -

Thank you for all the brilliant ideas! Deffo going to be using some of these!
Just wondering if anyone could throw any ideas my way regarding some jars I am making for nieces and nephews. Me & my OH have got 10 altogether, we usually spend around £10-£15 on each of them.. As they all like different things (I try and get them all at once so usually it's something that they aren't interested in *whoopsie*) I really struggle to think of ideas.
So this year I have brought 10 £1 jars from Ikea and I'm going to fill them with Christmas themed sweets then tie a ribbon round with a candy cane and make my own gift tags!
I have figured that it will work out to around £3 per child, which I know some of my family will be disappointed with as they spend around £10 on our presents. So I was trying to find a way of incorporating a £5 note into them? Or 5 £1 coins..
maybe give them all a cracker with a £5 note stuffed inside
Sorry if it's long winded!
Also I need an idea of dressing up gift vouchers :-D they look so boring and I don't fancy giving them an envelope and they are handing us big bags!
I know people should appreciate the presents but my OHs family will think the way I have just explained!
Any help would be great :-)

Have you thought about pressies with the gift vouchers for the people rather than give them vouchers if their prefer pressies. It's what I do. I save up all my vouchers earned through surveys etc then use them to buy pressies. Just a thought...0 -

Maybe go for the numbers rather than the objects, so 1 item then 2 items the next day, then 3 the next day and so on. Maybe 12 choc coins, 11 mini celebration/quality st chocs, 10 pencils... running out of ideas fast :rotfl:0 -

I would definitely do pots of gold, fill the jars with chocolate gold coins, sweets in gold wrappers and within the car put 5 x £1 coins in, we also used "fools gold" attach a ribbon and voila!
There is a main thread about pots of gold and that should give you the main idea with lots of suggestions.Everything is always better after a cup of tea0 -
