I'm just going to come right out and admit this...........I watched a Christmas film last night. I always have the t.v on to fall asleep to and we still haven't got around to having an aerial put in the bedroom in this house, so having watched most of our dvds each night they were the only ones left. not that I am complaining
although OH was.

For those of you talking about flavoured vodka go out and pick some blackberries for MSE drink. Only need a cheap bottle of vodka, the blackberries and some sugar. Give it a daily shake and it will be ready to bottle up at the end of November. I did it last year and we used it as a punch in a big bowl with lots of fruit added and a bit of lemonade.
Also if you do skittles flavour only do one colour in a bottle otherwise it looks a dirty brown colour. Also tastes better than a mix of flavours.0 -

ELJaycock, am so sorry about your brother. I think you should have your lovely Christmas Day as you want to do it, you are not being at all selfish - I totally agree you want it to be a happy day and to remember him with smiles and a raised glass. I think with families you sometimes have to take a step back and do the right thing for yourself and yours.
I don't invite my mum any longer at Christmas due to the fact she stresses me out so much with her barbed comments and passive aggression, she now goes to my sister who has spare rooms and grown up child, so she has the time, space and money to pamper mum. It was my lovely hubby who sat me down and made me realise I'm a a good person who cares a bit too much, and that I didnt deserve the upset it caused. Now we see her the week before Christmas, we work out dates with friends and family for December before Christmas Eve - and enjoy seeing everyone and having a lovely time - but Christmas Day is for us and the children.
Sending you hugs0 -

Hi everyone!!
Thank you for all the brilliant ideas! Deffo going to be using some of these!
Just wondering if anyone could throw any ideas my way regarding some jars I am making for nieces and nephews. Me & my OH have got 10 altogether, we usually spend around £10-£15 on each of them.. As they all like different things (I try and get them all at once so usually it's something that they aren't interested in *whoopsie*) I really struggle to think of ideas.
So this year I have brought 10 £1 jars from Ikea and I'm going to fill them with Christmas themed sweets then tie a ribbon round with a candy cane and make my own gift tags!
I have figured that it will work out to around £3 per child, which I know some of my family will be disappointed with as they spend around £10 on our presents. So I was trying to find a way of incorporating a £5 note into them? Or 5 £1 coins..
Sorry if it's long winded!
Also I need an idea of dressing up gift vouchers :-D they look so boring and I don't fancy giving them an envelope and they are handing us big bags!
I know people should appreciate the presents but my OHs family will think the way I have just explained!
Any help would be great :-)

I've only been on here for a few days and have only reached page 12 but have already so many ideas and tips..i should get to the end by Christmas..about ten years ago i did a 12 days of christmas where i bought my oh and daughter(who was about 5 at the time)their normal christmas presents and we do a boxing day one as well..after that i had for them a small present each day up to the 12th day..it wasn't anything expensive..a candle,a notepad, smellies that sort of thing for about a couple of quid each so around £50 pound would cover the lot..this year i was thinking of doing it again but with a connection with the song..anybody got any ideas what could be used to replace things like 3 french hens,5 gold rings etc..failing that i'll just revert to silly small but useful things..£land here i come...it keeps christmas going that bit longer for them..daughter will be nearly 16 by the time christmas comes so something for a teenager will be more difficult i should think.0
