  • Christmas nostalgia for me is sitting down to watch the dvd of 'The Box Of Delights' that was on bbc when i was in Junior school in mid 80s.Really takes me back

Ooh yes. I found that on YouTube earlier this year. Wonder if it's still there.

OMG We have 2 tins. One says 1.2kg with wrappers . The other says 2.4kg with wrappers. The big one is white and really old. I don't ever remember tins of chocolates that size. More's the pity !

We have a tin circa 1970's/1980's. Mackinosh's Quality Street. 2.5kg, 2.625kg including wraps. They really have shrunk over the years.

  • Thank you for the welcome!

charliemaine1bee - I loved Box of Delights too!

My Christmas "treat" is a big bowl of nuts...I don't especially like them, but them, but it just seems so festive cracking them open surrounded by Christmas deccies and with the fire* going.

*Sadly no room for a fire in this house, so I play my log fire dvd instead!

I have been listening to songs on here whilst I catch up this morning: http://www.accuradio.com/#!/more/accuholidays/ :snow_laug

    Thought I'd share these:

I have bought a pair but ideally I'd love to have the full set of Santa's reindeer. I'm currently in two minds about painting one of their noses red. I think these are going to be my version of a Christmas Elf. In our household is just MrD and myself, so I think I'll just rearrange/move them around the house in the run up to Christmas. :) It'll keep me entertained. The legs are stiff so can be bent to put them in different poses. At the moment I have one standing on his back legs :)

But anyway - am sharing them cause they really are very well made and would be perfect for little un's stocking fillers.

allonmyown- we have a fairly low key day also dd has asd and does not really get the excitement of Christmas, i think that's why i enjoy the build up so much . we have adapted our day over the years she gets what she wants for lunch and i do a dinner of some sort for oh and myself although rarely a proper Christmas dinner. we used to go to my mums for a few days but it got too much as she expects dd to conform to her idea of Christmas [very traditional] and it got to the stage where it wasn't worth the effort.
we have a slimline pop up tree its ready decorated an takes minutes to put up that she tolerates and other than window lights there's nothing else.

I need some help, I am making hampers for close family and really struggling for my mum. She loves Gordons Gin so was thinking of somehow incorporating this into the hamper but what else could i put with it?
