Mine too, just when I could have done with it staying where it was!
Still, at least we may get them soon. I'm just hoping it doesn't arrive on Saturday when DH is at home- I can see that prompting a massive bout of Bah- Humbugness!

  • I'm not scare mongering but I .

On a plus side, I decided to sell the wooden advent calendars that I was talking about as hubby and I have chocolate ones and I want to make the baby sock one next year and they have so many watchers and are going for such a more reasonable amount than I expected which might mean ill be able to get hubby his mug afterall :D

Are you able to post the link to them, I'd be interested!
  • thanks ChirpyChick! :) I'm hoping it will be another mild winter as we need to change our boiler and trying to wait until we really need to, I do remember last September reading the Express (AKA Weather Apocalypse!!) headline that it was going to be arctic, millions would die of cold etc ... it didn't get below zero until one day in Feb! so am desperately hoping that they are wrong this year as well!!
  • last year in September I bought us all wellies, thermal socks, gloves, hats, scarves and hand warmers - got fleece blankets, flasks etc for the cars, joined RAC 'just in case' and bought thick coats for both kids ... but at least I have them all ready for this year just in case! cos the previous winter when it was so bad, everywhere ran out of gloves, hats and wellies!

Which sites do you look at for long range forecasting? Thanks

I mostly just google winter 2012/2013 and read a lot of different places instead of depending on one source because obviously as we all know they aren't always accurate (as last year proved) and then I use my common sense to draw my own conclusion.

I know there are a few very "dramatic" forecasts for this year - those I'll believe when I see it. But I do think we are in for a Winter more closely linked to 3 years ago than last year. I think you can almost tell that already by the weather we currently have.

Edit: For those wanting links etc other people on other threads have posted them and I believe they keep being removed - so I don't know if I'm allowed to post them or not. A little time spend googling will quite quickly see you in the right direction. Just remember that the met can't even get most weekly forecasts right so those making predictions months in advance stand even less of a chance ;) but it is something to consider when you do most of your shopping online.

BBTHREE-Oh no thats a shame that hubby gave them to him accidentally. :( Hope you have some other ideas and it doesnt cost you too much! On the plus side your DS must have had a fabby birthday lol. I love your dedication to this thread, typing as you walk. :D

littlemschatabox-Oh no your poor BF! Hope he recovers quickly! Could you come to a compromise with going to his parents for dinner one year, yours the next? I know its really hard as we do this but I really really want to have dinner at my mums again this year. :( Is it near enough to spend the morning at one house and dinner/afternoon at the other?

  • Helloooo fellow Christmas crazies. :D Welcome to all newbies and hugs to all that need one. :)
I was in Superdrug today and spotted a perfume behind the counter that I remembered my sister liked so think that could be her main pressie sorted finally! They only sell the mini though so will have to get the 30ml online. Or might get her the Far Away perfume gift set from Avon...One of the two anyway lol. :o I rarely look at Avon but they have actually got some lovely gift sets and not too expensive. :)

    Hi All

Back at home and caught up on posts and thanked everyone.

CarlaMarie - Sound like your husband had a very close shave.

ALJA - Thanks for the heads up on cheap stationery at Tesco. Just gone a bit mad and got loads but its stocking fillers for my 2, and my neice and godson. On a xmas related topic they had double packs of sellotape (the small rolls) were down to 40p so got 2 packs. When I got to the till they went through at 10p. Wish I had got more, but at least I can fob Hubby and DD off with these whilst I use my Scotch gift tape.

Tesco also had these craft art packs "Aquarium" and "Sports Day" down for £2.96 to 70p

MoneysavingMumofone - It did take me by surprise when I saw what DS was opening. DH is paying for his main present, whilst I do all the stocking fillers. Its really frustrating that I thought DS was "done" and suddenly he isn't  He did say he had, had the best birthday ever.

The reason for my mad typing and walking post is whilst I am under the weather, and taking strong tablets and can't drive I am going a bit stir crazy stuck in the house. My mate came and took me to Boots at the local Arndale Centre to cash a prescription and they said it was a 15 wait time. So my friend turned to me and said "Right you xmas loon you have 15 mins to shop, GO!" So I did. :rotfl:

Everywhere I went I saw things that people on here might want and so I typed them before I got dosed up and forgot them, iyswim.

    Xx
