We have just passed the year mark of a really horrendous year and like you I have always been used to the not so nice side of people but within this past 12 months it has never failed to amaze me how kind hearted and generous people can be. Particularly complete strangers.
I like to think one day I will be able to do my bit and donate a sum to charity or help some others out in the ways we have been by way of thanks to those that have helped us out financially either by giving us things for the baby or food. In the meantime I just try to be as nice as I can, lend an ear or a shoulder and give my time if it's possible.
Probably something we should all try and do more - (especially at Christmas).
Things are just about starting to look up for us now (though the money situation will take a few years) all the ill health and family troubles seem to be improving and it really makes you grateful for everything.
A friend came to our house and was shocked because we don't have an extra chair and I have 2 shelves empty on my bookcase, no rugs or nik naks and according to her my house echoes and she wanted to know where all of our "stuff" was. I explained we had to sell it and she just had no comprehension of where I was coming from.
When people around you are suffering with their health and you might lose them a chair or a book or a dvd mean nothing.
Some kind people who are complete strangers helping you when you want to do the best for your baby - mean everything!Everything is always better after a cup of tea0 -

It's so true, material things really don't matter when youve come close to losing a lot more!
I'm glad things are starting to get better for you, I certainly feel you have been really helpful to me on here and I have been grateful for your advice.
We've had a cruddy year too and all that matters to me now is my family's health and happiness
Here's to a lovely Christmas for everyone Xxx0 -

Hello, has anybody seen a plain wooden advent calendars? They type I'd decorate/paint myself? I can only find them at about £35 - I don't need it to be a shape or anything fancy, just the wee drawers

I couldn' agree with you more chirpychick. Family, friends and health are so much more important than material possesions. Every day I remember to be grateful for what we have; we have a roof over our heads, clothes to wear and food to eat - which is a lot more than some people.
You sound like a very kind-hearted person chirpychick and you're always really helpful and supportive to everyone on here so you deserve to get the same treatment back. xchirpychick wrote: »

Very wise words- I don't think we know how true this is until we've been in this situation.
I'm glad that things are looking up for you now, you have some very exciting times ahead, and it's great that you are in a better place to enjoy them.
One kind gesture can really restore our faith in humanity can't it?* Ebay- 1 Bag a Day *0
