    Christmas Nightmare..........................

DD1 has found out there is a moshi monsters advent calendar where they have 'twistmas' and winter wonderland moshlings... its £25!!!!!

She said she will forfeit christmas presents to get it, but the other 2 love moshi's also so i couldn't get her one without the others and i'm damned if i'm spending £75 on advent calendars:eek:

    what do i do?!

I wouldnt - not it you will have to get 3. Thats crazy. Mybe they will go on 3 for 2 but even so, alot of money for an advent calendar. Do they get a moshling everyday or something? Trying to understand why its so expensive. I know my ds would love one but not sure if I could justiy the spend let alone buying 3!

I agree you can't possibly get 3 of them, and it wouldn't be fair to just get 1. I have a similar problem in that DS has asked about a lego calendar, they're similarly priced and he's had one for the last 2 years but TBH he hasn't played with any of the lego from last year's and he isn't nearly so into lego as he was last year. Plus DH is still out of work so we're even skinter than we were last year, so the answer is going to be no, sadly.

PERSONALLY there is no way on earth I could justify that!!
I understand it is a really nice thing for them but it's just too much and I don't think it would do them any harm in knowing that.

I may come up with a compromise and bake sock/bag advent calendars for each of them with a moshi theme i.e pencils, rubbers, that kind of thing and with a £3-£5 present on Christmas eve.

But that is just me, I wouldn't spend £25 on a calendar for 1 child certainly not for all 3 and I dont think it would be fair to do for one and not the others as you say.

    tricky one there!

edit: thinking about it, even doing that would work out at £15 ph so id just get them a moshi chocolate calendar - mean mummy!!!

ludicrous i know but im actually thinking how i can justify 3.. if i ebay some things or if i get them on 3for2 (which i doubt, think they will be very popular and sell out quickly tbh)

    Hi again!

Well Christmas has been a big part of our conversations at home this week! I am going to have to be so organised this year as like last year I ended up having to buy all the family presents for my children, 1. because they have no idea what to get them, 2. some are not physically up to Christmas shopping and 3. because I get moody if someone has paid full price for something that I could have got cheaper! Thank gawd I've already started getting some bits!

I really feel for those of you who have SPD, I suffered with it severely with my two pregnancies and then after I had them, even 5 years on I still have problems now as my pelvis never formed back together properly and now in between the separation I calcium deposits and sclerosis. The only thing that's helped is chiro, I have no idea if it can help when you're pregnant but it may be worth asking as it's done so much for me that physio just didn't touch.

No idea what we're eating Christmas Day, normally pastries and fresh fruit for breakfast, 3 course dinner, etc., but I've always done it as an evening meal due to family arriving in the afternoon, but this year our parents are going to our siblings as they came to us last year! Dh said about going out for dinner as we may never get the opportunity again but then we looked at the prices and whilst we have a good amount saved in our Christmas fund, neither of us can justify £60+ a head! So might get it all ordered via M&S - anyone know when they the Christmas food to order brochure comes out?

We've always bought a fair amount in M&S for dinner, etc., but never from their food to order! Any info would be great, we used it this year for my dd's birthday when we had family and friends round after her actual party and I couldn't fault it, it was so easy and I thought it might give me even more time to enjoy Christmas day!

What about doing a December 1st hamper instead? You could have a little advent calendar in each, still jammies/hot chocolate/DVD and that way you have the whole of December to enjoy :-)

Hmmmmm tough one! Would they share? Like take it in turns to open a day? I don't know much about moshi, but £75 seems like a huge sum for advent calendars! Is it likely they might be reduced after 1st December? :D

Thats a good point Dollypop - didnt think about that. If it goes around the £10 mark might get it for my DS but at £25 I dont think I could (let alone get 3 as I said).

I was just talking to my husband about it, wanted his opinion but he googled it and said what makes him mad is that obviously 7 of them you can't buy - you HAVE to buy the calendar in order to get those 7 and he says out of principle he wouldn't buy it.

But I really dont feel like they will be deprived children if you don't buy them. Surely they will do the chocolate advent calendars with the picture on the front! I'd say that's as far as I would go.

HOWEVER *whispers* if you do have stuff you really don't need/want and are prepared to sell them on ebay to make the money or do surveys or whatever then that's up to you - but do bare in mind what they might expect next December!!
