Bargain of Christmas so far for anyone with cats! In Tesco in the pet toys section, pack of 4 Play Balls With Feathers (those are the ones that look like small tennis balls, with tiger/leopard print furry fabric covering and each has a feather on it (my cats love these) the pack of 4 is marked up as 1p, got 2 packs and they scanned at 1p at self checkout, so well worth a look - no yellow SEL, just the normal white SEL with 1p price - I bough them a year or 2 ago abd I think they were about £2 then0

Please can I join this thread as I have been lurking for about 2 weeks now
I love Christmas and was so excited when I found this thread (I spent all of last Tuesday on it)as think I'm getting on OH nerves asking him about it haha, so its good to find some like minded people.
Plus I'd just like to say thanks for all the links to bargins people have been posting as I've saved money on presents for quite a few people now. Although finding Dotcomgiftshop could be my downfall!
So many craft ideas I want to try after seeing on here.
Just a little about myself....its just me and my partner, no kids as yet so I am jealous of all the people getting to do the elf idea and the Christmas eve hampers, tried to convince my sister to do it all for her 2 kids but cant see her doing that.
Oh and I haven't really used a forum before so please bear with me while I try to figure out how to quote people and use it properly
Thank you
Hi reformedshopper!
I'm in the same boat as you,no kids yet and a man who rolls his eyes at anything soft and fluffy, but I'm not letting that stop me. I'm going to make a xmas eve hamper for the two of us - pj's for me(he won't wear them or slippers) a couple of DVD's ,not too girlie and some upmarket wine, cheese, crackers etc not the usual £3 plonk. That and a log fire should get us in the mood for Crimbo;)
I'm making hampers for everyone this year and pots of gold too. We have a lot of people from all the clubs and stuff we go to to find little gifts for too.
Right now I'm looking into finding suitable things for a doggy hamper and he will get his on xmas eve too.:T
I'm also making a christmas book for keeping all my ideas and recipes.Have just added Nigella's Chilli Jam which I'm goingto have to find jars for and Baileys Fudge.0 -
Hi Snugglebunny8 and ostaragirl.
Thanks for the welcome.
I am trying to cut our Christmas costs down after the last 2 years were a ridiculous amount. So trying to find things I can make for people, plus its much more personal I think. My mum is getting a shop bought photo frame with the word family in the middle of frame(£stretcher £9.99), then I am filling it with photos and a nice poem. Liked it so much am now doing same for mil and nan-in-law.
Sister has said not to get her anything, found a link on here to a blog that had "a jar of nothing" so will make her that maybe buy 1 tiny little thing.
Niece and nephew I am excited about as I am making them a Father Christmas pinata each(just full of chocolate coins and other little Christmas chocs), then getting them something to open.
Think I may do us a Christmas eve hamper then13 projects in 2013 0/130 -

Hi there.
I made one as a joke for OH birthday which went down well except for the fact that I got my mix wrong and it was like concrete haha. As it was so hard my nephew was upset that he didn't get go so I made him one for his birthday, shaped and decorated like an xbox pad. Now I'm hooked on making themThey do get better the more I make and I find better ways of doing them. Plus I now make them with wallpaper paste not flour and water.

Im still sulking that I couldnt get anything in the last sale and I cant now either cos payday isnt until the 21st! I love dotcomgiftshop, I so want a vintage style christmas but the decs are pretty expensive on there and ebay is just as expensive! Think it will be a case of collecting bits every year.
Are you crafty at all? My friend made some lovely heart decorations that looked vintagy. She got some lovely fabric, cut out hearts and sewed them togther, leaving a little gap to stuff a filling in, then sewed up the gap and added some ribbon to hang them from. They looked lovely and i'm going to give it a go this year. You can also buy fairly cheap wooded hearts on places like ebay and then you could paint them red etc to get a similar effect.0 -
