  • I've just wrapped up some empty whiskas cat food pouch boxes in christmas wrapping paper and filled one with underwear, another started a toiletry mini hamper and the third the punk one.

Wrapped some pressies for the cats with them watching. I have told them they will be collected by Santa so not to go snooping for them!

And for some reason my daughter picked 'Tree' fo rher story tonight which is about a little Christmas tree that is unhappy cos he doesnt get picked, so the robins etc dress him up and he ends up happy in someones hall... I have no idea why she picked a Christmas book, maybe we have some telepathy going on!
    1,2 & 5p: Christmas day food £9.31
    10 & 20p: misc savings £2.70
    50p: Christmas presents £3.50
    £2: holidays £2.00
  • Ive got tin of choccies and biscuits so far, but over next few weeks I will try and get After 8's, Ferrero Rocher, Matchmakers and chocolate Brazils and Roses

Had a tip off from my friend who works for Tescos, Matchmakers currently £1 box until 25/9.

    Stock up:D

  • Well I've spent my evening looking at dvd's I want to watch over the xmas period.
I have a lot on a hard drive, However this has decided that it hates me and no longer wishes to work so i have lost them all :(

I thought i was being quite choosy on amazon, but then realised i have actually added 42 to my basket :rotfl:
I think i'll have to have another look through and pick the one's i truly can't live without, even though they are all used i don't think the purse strings can quite stretch to that lol!
Although all 42 only came to £39.97! So not actually that bad.... Unless you include individual postage in which case i'd be bankrupt ! :D

Anyone have any good xmas film recommendations? One's that aren't that common?
I miss having movies 24 on the old sky box, they had non stop made for tv xmas films on that were actually quite nice to watch:(

Sometimes I swear you and I must be related!

This is my ultimate favourite from childhood

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/All-I-Want-Christmas-DVD/dp/B0002W10RS/ref=sr_1_13?s=dvd&ie=UTF8&qid=1347319128&sr=1-13

    my 2nd favourite

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Scrooged-DVD-Bill-Murray/dp/B0000505H0/ref=sr_1_57?s=dvd&ie=UTF8&qid=1347319244&sr=1-57

this is a film that i discovered last year or the year before.
it is quite bad in effects and it is dubbed :o but it is such a beautiful story! So it is going on top of my list

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Christmas-Story-DVD-Hannu-Pekka-Bjorkman/dp/B002IEVLCM/ref=sr_1_82?s=dvd&ie=UTF8&qid=1347319289&sr=1-82

another childhood one - though i don't seem to enjoy it much now as an adult for some reason but it was my favourite for so many years it keeps a space at the top

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Santa-Claus-Movie-Dudley-Moore/dp/B0002W1ACI/ref=sr_1_97?s=dvd&ie=UTF8&qid=1347319515&sr=1-97

if you can play region 1 DVD's then this is a lovely story!

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Christmas-Card-DVD-Region-NTSC/dp/B000TGUUFA/ref=sr_1_1?s=dvd&ie=UTF8&qid=1347319759&sr=1-1

can you or anyone else recommend any?? There are 2 other films which I adore and were on one of the Christmas channels last year but I don't remember the names, if I do will add them to the list.

(p.s our special sky offer ends in November, we have said we will keep Sky for Christmas/New Year for the soul purpose of Christmas 24 which I believe was actually a "free" movie channel last year and the year before but then it is going as we wont be able to afford it so I completely feel your pain!)
Everything is always better after a cup of tea

kayandy-My nephew will be 4 1/2 months at christmas and Ive got him toys for when hes a bit older. I got this Leap Frog Piano http://www.amazon.co.uk/LeapFrog-Learn-Groove-Shapes-Melodies/dp/B001UYXTQ2/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1347317579&sr=8-2 and this which is my favourite: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Tomy-Discovery-Forget-Photo-Album/dp/B0019RC632/ref=sr_1_cc_1?s=aps&ie=UTF8&qid=1347317624&sr=1-1-catcorr They were both reduced in Boots though, if you can find the photo album toy reduced in your boots I think it would be a really nice toy thats a bit different. :) The blanket sounds lovely too, you can never have enough blankets and its always nice to have a special one. :) I second the hamper idea for your sister, you can personalise it completely to her tastes. :)

carlamarie-A shame there wasnt much left in your boots/tesco. :( My tesco was rubbish when i went for stuff I was after anyway but I was lucky with Boots. Great that you finished your DS' list though! :T I can relate to trillions of birthdays, I think my busiest birthday month are april/may with 4 in each (1 being DS') Both me and OH only have immediate family (although I do have 6 brothers/sisters) so goodness knows how many there'd be if we had lots of aunties/uncles/cousins etc lol.

BBTHREE-I dont think thats mean, Id save the watch for his birthday too. :)

Damzel_In_Distress-I really like this film http://www.amazon.co.uk/The-Christmas-Miracle-DVD/dp/B004AHV7Z6/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1347318288&sr=8-2 I watched it on sky movies last year and was lucky to come across it in a cash converters still sealed for £1. :) Im hoping I get sent a 1/2 price sky movies offer around xmas as I HAVE to have the sky movies xmas channel but do not like the £16 extra for it all grrr. Santa Paws is also a really lovely film (not as cheap as some though) http://www.amazon.co.uk/Disney-Buddies-Search-Santa-Paws/dp/B003KTN0TG/ref=sr_1_1?s=dvd&ie=UTF8&qid=1347318458&sr=1-1 Ive just checked my amazon order summary as i was sure Id never pay that much lol and I got it for £1.19 plus £1.26 postage! Ive just searched the seller and its gone up in price but they actually have a double pack which includes the Santa buddies film (also fab) for £3.75 plus £1.26 delivery which is cheaper than Santa Paws on its own! http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B003YUJI7Y/ref=olp_product_details?ie=UTF8&me=AVXB5JQRCA15O&seller=

my3girls-Nooo how could you post the link to dotcomgiftshop I want it allllll! :D Im still sulking that I couldnt get anything in the last sale and I cant now either cos payday isnt until the 21st! I love dotcomgiftshop, I so want a vintage style christmas but the decs are pretty expensive on there and ebay is just as expensive! Think it will be a case of collecting bits every year. :)

We dont buy too many goodies/extra food at christmas weirdly enough, I just dont seem to be in a snacky mood and stuff gets left in the cupboards well into january which believe me is very weird as me and OH dont have any trouble snacking at any other time! :o We also have dinner elsewhere and are usually at my mums xmas eve and ILs boxing day! I buy the obligatory tin of chocs and cheese footballs every year without fail though hehe, Ive even gone off cheese footballs but they must be bought! :p

  • Hello All, I too LOVE Christmas but here 'down under' we have no chance of snow :( one thing I DO miss about the UK!!!) Anyway, any ideas what the HOT kids presents will be this year? I have a 10yr old who still believes and have no idea what to get him, he is far too spoilt and has most things. All ideas gratefully received!! :)

  • Hi everyone,
Please can I join this thread as I have been lurking for about 2 weeks now :)
I love Christmas and was so excited when I found this thread (I spent all of last Tuesday on it)as think I'm getting on OH nerves asking him about it haha, so its good to find some like minded people.

Plus I'd just like to say thanks for all the links to bargins people have been posting as I've saved money on presents for quite a few people now. Although finding Dotcomgiftshop could be my downfall!

So many craft ideas I want to try after seeing on here.

Just a little about myself....its just me and my partner, no kids as yet so I am jealous of all the people getting to do the elf idea and the Christmas eve hampers, tried to convince my sister to do it all for her 2 kids but cant see her doing that.

Oh and I haven't really used a forum before so please bear with me while I try to figure out how to quote people and use it properly :)
    Thank you
