 Hi
I am so excited today!
I finally got into town and went to Poundland.
I brought one of them baby comforter blanket things but its black and has a penguin head with a santa hat on top! I said to hubby I really wanted something extra and little for Spud in our Christmas Eve Hamper and that just finished it off :T I am really pleased, it is lovely and soft (and has the CE mark and everything so safe which hubby was concerned about).
I also made hubby buy me a pink 2013 diary for my stocking :rotfl: and I don't know if anyone has seen them as I haven't seen anybody mention them but they have these white cups and there are 2 kinds one has a blue lid and blue wrap around and the other red and they have snowflakes on. They are them travel type mugs that keep drinks hot but not the thermos ones, hope you know what I mean? Anyway I made him buy me the blue one for "snow day" LOL assuming we get some snow :j
I also brought a pack of the Christmas cards with the photo insert (I have 12 already but needed 6 more) as we are sending those out with a picture of spud when he is born, by way of birth announcement and Christmas card in one. I know others are due around the same sort of time as me so thought I would let you all know about them.
I saw the little gingerbread money boxes but decided against buying one.
Also they had lots of other cards, gift bags and lights - about 1/4 of an aisle for anyone interested.
They also had about 1/4 of an aisle for Halloween too. We only had £5 each to spend so I didn't get any of that but they had LED spiders and ghosts and I am DEFINITELY going back after payday to get 1 each of those as I am doing a mini Halloween Hamper for hubby. They had some costumes (but personally I thought they really did look cheap and wouldn't last 2 minutes - ok for 2 minutes round the block on a small child that wont ever wear it again kind of thing or if money is very tight). They also had eyeballs and body part jelly's at the till. They had some felt black trick or treat bags and a few other bits but not much.
Oh for the comforters they are with the baby stuff not the christmas.
I also finally made it to £10 on valued opinions and just brought Nativity DVD (we now have 2 Christmas DVD's in our Christmas Eve Hamper LOL whoops) also I brought Hocus Pocus :rotfl: (for Halloween) the other was on pregnancy related stuff.
Cannot wait until payday now as I think I will get it all finished! It is hubbys birthday, then halloween, then bonfire night, then baby, then Christmas. :snow_laug:xmassign::xmastree::santa2:
Hope that telling you whats in the shop helps some of you!
p.s for those asking there is tons of gardening stuff tooEverything is always better after a cup of tea0 -

Wow this thread grows and grows when your away for a day or two!
Thanks for that link, very handy, especially like the way she's decorated her santa soup, will be giving that a try.
Also very grateful for the HM bargains websitelink.
Sadly the nearest £land, HB etc for me is 100 miles away. We are getting a £stretcher soon though so can't wait to see what that's like. Still not having shops like these doesn't seem to stop me spending though.
I've started gathering things for my Pots of Gold, got great gold mugs with 'Keep Calm and Go For Gold' on them for £2 each so that's the pot. I also managed to find mint cream fingers wrapped in gold foil, packs of 12 for 99p and I've been buying Cadbury Stars, individually wrapped in gold foil, they are pricey at 50p each but one will be enough by the time I've found other gold sweets.
On a different note, I've remembered I still have a xmas pudding from last year. Hopefully it should be ok, it's been in the fridge and wrapped in greasproof and foil.
I've been in the Orig Fac Shop and buying up sets with a mug, coaster and little tray for £3 reduced from £6, nice themes like dogs, cupcakes etc, they are going to be the basis of tea hampers.
This thread is keeping me inspired and I've started a new notebook dedicated to Christmas.I've put all my recipes in there too so everything is together.0 -
Apologies for the huge post coming up! Sorry if im a bit late replying and the following posters have no idea what im talking about lol.
msgigglewick-The choc sleigh idea is fab, will have to do that for someone! Maybe good for teachers?
chirpychick-I am SO excited about the Twilight film, cant wait for tickets to go on sale!
Twinkle-You should be ok getting around by mid nov but might be more comfortable wrapping at a table? Its just the getting up off the floor bit might be awkward/sore. x
Damzel-In-Distress-Thankyou, I think she already has that one too, I must check her Dvd collection!I got a book from Poundland last year that had a lot about the actual Forks in it, really interesting.
I got her the triple bodymist twilight set in B&M a few months ago for £1.99, thats all my one had in.
Nanamia-Huge hugs, it must be very difficult to be so far away from them. How about thinking of christmassy things you can do for your grandaughter from afar like the PNP Santa video? You can personalise the video with names etc and email to the person. This is the link, the xmas video isnt live yet but should be in november i think. http://www.portablenorthpole.tv/home Also, I saw the dairy milk miniatures in B&M the other day. x
Snugglebunny8-I know MIL wouldnt have the hump about it or anything but I would hate it if she were secretly upset. I dont think she'd arrange anything else as her and FIL have dinner at home every year, we are usually the only ones who join her every other year even tho OH has 2 brothers. I think I will tell her early november so she knows in plenty of time. We will still go round in the morning and boxing day as usual. x
chickywiggle-Congrats on your new nephew.
kayandy-Home Bargains sometimes have big packs of scraps of paper in the kids craft section. Some really pretty papers in there sometimes and also poundland ive seen bumper packs of different papers. Poundshops and places like family bargains etc usually have lovely stickers for scrapbooking. Poundworld near me also has a specific deal on scrapbook borderes/sticker sets, think its 2 for £1. x
NickyBo-That is exactly what i want to do for my brothers/sisters etc with the shot tubes and flavoured vodka! Thanks for the link as I really wasnt sure how to display the test tubes nicely!
Boots had a lovely red dressing gown a few years ago plus slipper socks, all on 3 for 2 and reduced nearer xmas so might be worth a look. My son adored pink at one point so I remember well hunting for an exact colour. He also went through a phase for about a year (long phase lol) where he would only wear one green frog welly and 1 blue thomas welly, no pairs lol.
Rosygirl-Fabulous news, I hope you a wonderful christmas! And many congratulations on your great nephew.
Phew!I went to Boots yesterday and got some super duper bargains, sorted my nephews christmas presents out so am chuffed.
This is what I got:
Nephew: Leapfrog Piano, Buzz Lightyear squashy washy (chosen by DS!) and Tomy Forget Me Not photo album toy. (add all that to the xmas bib Ive already got him and thats him finished.)
Niece-Spongebob teddy
DS: Cars 2 Klip Kitz x 3 (Mater, Finn and Lightning McQueen), Dr Who expandable flannel, Spongebob flannel, Moshi monsters teddy, Dr Who pen, 3 x Dr Who micro figures, Cars set of 2 figures and Cars squinkies set.
Brother: Cars 2 Klip Kitz set (Lightning McQueen)
Am annoyed with myself that I didnt get my other brother a Dr Who pen now as would have been a perfect little pressie grr! But really pleased that Ive got enough for DS' stocking now bar a few bits like choc etc and my nephew is finished.'They only had one cow!'0 -
Rosygirl - I always wanted one of those machines. I think I eventually go one from a car boot sale but never had the chocolates for it. :rotfl:0
-
It certainly brought back lots of memories for me when DS3 got one!
(And I might just have had a little play when the others weren't looking lol!)* Ebay- 1 Bag a Day *0
