Question: Does anyone else ever buy way in advance and then finish but then come up with a great idea for someone they have already brought for? If so, do you save the idea for their Birthday/next Christmas or do you give them extra?

All the time, which is why I only have two people to buy for next year :o

How cute are those little candy cane sleighs! Definitely going to do that!

I saw a lady had posted something similar to the chocolate spoons on my facebay but instead of dipping the spoon in the chocolate it looks like she had half filled an egg cup with chocolate, put the spoon in so it stood up and put mini mallows on the top of the chocolate, looked very smart and would be cute wrapped in cello. Now only if I knew how to post a pic on here from my iPhone.....

Wee bit of advice needed for my mums gardening hamper please... I have a gardening set, crocs, a voucher and nothing else! I haven't a clue about gardening so no idea what to put in, was going to present it in a pot or watering can

  • My3girls - they still have lots of gardening bits in poundland. Maybe things like twine, gardening gloves, the things like lollysticks that you write the name of the plant on etc would bulk out the hamper?

  • Check BM stores also for gardening bits and bobs, often cheaper than a £1 too and better quality alot of the time.
Maybe get her a kneeling foam board too? And some fancy plant sticks.
Oh Wilkinsons did a whole gardening inspired gift selection of stuff last year.
Watch the date on any bulbs you get, they might need planting hthis autumn and they can rot. I havn't had much luck wth pound shop bulbs must admit, but their roses have been a success.
Think I might suggest my husband does me a gardening hamper lol x
    1,2 & 5p: Christmas day food £9.31
    10 & 20p: misc savings £2.70

Thanks for this, there's a bm near me but no Wilkos unfortunately.

See the thing about the dates on the bulbs is something completely alien to me and nothing I would have thought of so thanks for that!

I spotted a foam kneeler when I was at her house today :-(

  • What about Cadbury Wishes, Cadbury Elves, mini lindt reindeer?

    Congratulations, really pleased for you!!

I am going to save my idea for next Christmas but I wondered what everyone else did?

always happens to me! :rotfl:all the new Christmas stock arrives in stores after Ive finished, and I often end up buying extra gifts, especially for the kids or OH, so this year Ive promised myself that if it's a bargain I will only buy it if it goes into a seperate box for Christmas 2013!

Rosygirl what good news :-) I'm delighted for you, it's time to enjoy all your Christmas preperations now knowing you will be able to relax and enjoy.

SugarSpun I've been saving like mad ( in the hope that if I've got ticket money/flights booked it'll make me feel better) and have been searching flights for weeks. I've not seen anything as cheap as your friend tho:( was it a one way ticket? My friend was telling me today about an online service showing cheaper flights instead of guessing which days are cheaper and reentering your details lots and lots of times but it is only for European flights:( I'm on the sky scanner app as often as I'm on here! It's become an obsession however as I go through each stage on the app the cost goes up and up!

Thank you everybody for your kindness it really has helped :-)
I've been to Bents today ( I remember we've chatted about it before) it a fabulous garden centre, they are just starting to put their Christmas range out. I smell Christmas in the air:-)

Has anybody seen Cadbury dairy milk miniatures, think that was their name. Bents had individual chocolates with letters on to make names or wishes, some in Beatrix Potter papers etc I though I could "pay homage" and borrow the idea with those miniatures if I could find them. Any ideas?

I love the candy sleigh idea too think that's another thing I could be getting on with:) I was chatting to my DH this evening and decided I need to be doing something instead of thinking what time it is in Perth and what are they up too! Christmas might just be the thing I'm looking for as a distraction and try to start living again doing different things. Life isn't over its just different (and ever so empty) xxx
    The secret of Christmas
It's not the things you do at Christmastime
But the Christmas things you do
    All year through

  • I know this isn't a Christmas related although it kinda is! I want to make my sister a scrapbook for Xmas my question is do you guys know any good places to get a nice but not too pricey scrapbook etc from?
