Hi Everyone
Thinks its about time i actually joined this thread. Ive been reading it from the beginning. Another self confessed Christmas nut here. Present buying has started as well as squirreling away of food.
Kids as always are the main priority, 2 girls aged 8 and 6, they've decided they want a new dolly each and they've already picked which one (organised like there Mum). Need to hold off buying quite a few pressies to early this year. Were going NYC in late November so I need to get 4 of my main presents there (Mum, stepdad and 2 sisters) and neices and nephews are getting cinema vouchers but they expire after 12 months so cant buy them til just before Christmas so i need to put the money away for them. It seems strange buying presents so late as i'm normally done and dusted by late November.
Did get DD1 a bargain Chemistry set that she really wants, reduced from £27 to £13, she watches Big bang theory every night with me an its starting to rub off on her. I think she wants telescope as well. DD2 is still quite young and she will want 'proper' toys. Also need to think of a nice Christmas outing for the kiddies.
Me and DH save £10 each a week all year for Christmas but were taking it NY this year to get some bits out there. Also got £200 in Park vouchers. Think ive got about £30 in Nectar points and £25 in tesco stamps. Started to get some Iceland ones as well, would ideally like £50 of both tesco and Iceland. I love Christmas so much I like to save all year so I dont have to stress to much about money.
Started to get pressies for a few other, in our Primark yesterday they had the onesies in little boys sizes reduced to £3 s picked a few up and got each dd short onsies that we £2 each. Not much Christmas stock out around here, just got back from Tesco, a massive poundland and Aldi and nothing in any of them. I cant wait for the Chrismas books to start appearing, especially Boots.March 2014 Grocery challenge £250.000 -
I was just wondering, what would you tell a child if they asked why a Christmas Elf didn't visit them at Christmas?
lol

I don't suppose they had The Hulk did they? Haven't seen that any cheaper than £9 yet but early days I guess......
I have been spending on various bits and pieces and my bank balance won't be happy. Amazon has a lot of Nerf stuff with big reductions if anyone needs/wants that. DS already has 3 but got another for under £4 as a little filler.0 -

I had this question recently when we were walking around Tesco, Last year we had an elf for the first time, and it recently became obvious to DS that he had never had one the years before and wanted to know 'why'. I told him that Elves only come when a child is 'old enough' for the first time i said it was around age 4/5. And because he was old enough to go on the naughty/nice list last year and now, thats why we got a visit :rotfl:
He's barely just 6 but he's not daft and his next question was - 'Well what about if you have little brothers or sisters and you turn 5, does he still not come then because they're not old enough?' !! He had me stumped for a few moments and i just said 'Oh no, well thats different, as long as one of them gets old enough then the elf visits the whole family'
That kept him quiet and he seemed to accept my answer.
Then he felt the need to point out on the way home (he had obviously been thinking about it the whole shopping trip!) that when he spoke to his friends at school last xmas one of them told him that elf's wern't real and he was lying because he had never had an elf. DS just said to me 'but thats probably because he's really naughty isn't it mum? I didn't know what to say, so i just said 'Oh i don't know hunny'
I hope he doesn't tell him he doesn't get an elf because he's to badly behaved this year :eek:Having a coke with youis even more fun than going to San Sebastian, Irun, Hendaye, Biarritz, Bayonne

Unfortunately Hulk is still full price in tesco
The batman/joker ones aren't supposed to be reduced but they scan as though they are, My tesco was made aware of the error before i had chance to get one a few weeks ago and they took them all off the shelf's .Miserable scrooges.Having a coke with youis even more fun than going to San Sebastian, Irun, Hendaye, Biarritz, Bayonne

For those of you asking about Nativity! I also recommend Flint Street Nativity, it's known actors pretending to be children putting on a Nativity and you get to see the behind the scenes stuff

Phew been away for just over a week and have now finally caught up!!!
Congratulations on the new pregnancies/new jobs. Good luck with finding jobs those that need & welcome to all new people!
Havnt done much xmas planning with our holiday but dd is back at school tomorrow so can start sorting everything and also need to sort out our impending little arrival as we have nothing other than a cot though I do still have 11 weeks! I find it hard to still think we will have a baby at xmas!
Tesco have started their seasonal aisle in our local me and dd got very excited this morning! And to top it off they had Cadburys elves (chocolate with popping candy) and they're still 25p :T so we treated ourselves! They had some good offers on like Lindt teddies & reindeers £3 or two for £4 and I'm sure I read someone was after the Haribo sweetie tubs?? They had them out for £5 or there was a cardboard tube (quite big) for £3 I need to find the biggest tub of malteasers - these are dd's fav and we said we will get her them for her birthday!Spreading a little Christmas joy all year round :santa2:0 -

I used to like perfect wedding or wedding ideas (I think!) they are the ones which are half A4 size mags. Found they had loads of ideas and had a good spread of budgets! However will add I havn't looked at a wedding mag in over two years xSpreading a little Christmas joy all year round :santa2:0
