I don't suppose they had The Hulk did they? Haven't seen that any cheaper than £9 yet but early days I guess......

I have been spending on various bits and pieces and my bank balance won't be happy. Amazon has a lot of Nerf stuff with big reductions if anyone needs/wants that. DS already has 3 but got another for under £4 as a little filler.

only one they had on the shelf was the joker.. the pov said batman/joker and something else can't remember.. it was def on offer though as it was a yellow sticker with the other prices crossed out. i have some bedding to pick up on friday so will have another look then.

  • , need to keep an eye in case Tesco do the BOG2F selections boxes as I need a couple for neighbours children, then I think that I'm done!

If you do see selection boxes on offer then please let me know... it's not that I need them for small children, just for OH ;)

Also need to get his 1kg bag of jelly beans sorted and delivered to work (although not cheap it means I can snaffle some of the ones I like without him really noticing and you always get some small sample packs in the box with your delivery).

My sis and her husband are both sorted (just need to pop into town to buy the last bits), my mum is ongoing, my friends are almost done - ironically it's the smaller people I need to buy for that I struggle with as their parents only let me spend a small amount - I need pressies for a 15yo girl, a 9yo boy and a 2.5yo boy with a budget of about £5-6 each....
  • Has anyone seen any stollen on the shop shelves yet? For some reason I have a huge craving for cake which has been soaked in brandy and melted butter(!).

I had this question recently when we were walking around Tesco, Last year we had an elf for the first time, and it recently became obvious to DS that he had never had one the years before and wanted to know 'why' :o . I told him that Elves only come when a child is 'old enough' for the first time i said it was around age 4/5. And because he was old enough to go on the naughty/nice list last year and now, thats why we got a visit :rotfl:
He's barely just 6 but he's not daft and his next question was - 'Well what about if you have little brothers or sisters and you turn 5, does he still not come then because they're not old enough?' !! He had me stumped for a few moments and i just said 'Oh no, well thats different, as long as one of them gets old enough then the elf visits the whole family'
That kept him quiet and he seemed to accept my answer.

Then he felt the need to point out on the way home (he had obviously been thinking about it the whole shopping trip!) that when he spoke to his friends at school last xmas one of them told him that elf's wern't real and he was lying because he had never had an elf. DS just said to me 'but thats probably because he's really naughty isn't it mum? I didn't know what to say, so i just said 'Oh i don't know hunny' :o
I hope he doesn't tell him he doesn't get an elf because he's to badly behaved this year

    :rotfl:
Sounds like you have a proper smart cookie there!!

I wonder if you could maybe say something like "Elves visit everybody but some Elves are cheeky and naughty and get themselves into trouble so we notice them, whereas other Elves are very well behaved and older so they do their job without being spotted or leaving behind clues" ???

LOL I'm not sure that works but might! (I have been thinking about it all morning haha)

  • Was in marks and Spencer's at lunchtime and they had stripped a large amount of shelving. A lady was busy stacking the first shelf with iced Christmas cake loafs.

    :)
  • Well I got home today to find my big parcel of wool has been delivered. So I will be making a start knitting snowflake jumpers very soon!
  • Just a little update, my sweet jars off ebay have arrived and I am so pleased with them they are exactly what I wanted! So thats all the old work girls sorted! And done cheaply so I can spend more money on the family! :)

Went to superdrug before after reading them may have some 10p 50p etc offers, they didnt so it was a slightly wasted journey! But Im sure theyll have gift sets soon enough!

Also for those looking for Yankee Candles, I noticed a display of them in the clinton cards window, unsure on prices but can try and go back if people want to know.

And after a nice little sort out I have found some gifts from last year that I can hopefully regift for my works secret santa etc. Luckily I put post its on the stuff to tell me who got them. Yessss I have a brain after all!! :p

Hi, for the 9 year old boy have a look at the Nerf guns on Amazon, they are good value at the moment and will hopefully go down well with a 9 year old. They do with mine and his friends any way
'we don't stop playing because we get old, we get old because we stop playing'

That might work for other kids but im afraid it wouldn't with DS, because i already explained last year when we first did it that the elf was there to to make sure he behaved in the lead up to christmas and if he did the elf would leave presents every now and then and maybe a package on xmas eve (hamper that i make for him) so thats what he thinks the elf is for. If i change my story now, he'll definitely start asking questions :rotfl:
I didn't really have time last year to think through what to say, i could of come up with something much better i admit, but it's to late now haha.
    Having a coke with you
is even more fun than going to San Sebastian, Irun, Hendaye, Biarritz, Bayonne
or being sick to my stomach on the Travesera de Gracia in Barcelona
