I agree, Im doing one for all mine - DH, DD (15) and DS (12) I decided to theme them, partly bits from our America holiday that I sneaked in when I went out for the odd 'stroll'
and a couple of novelties of things they like (Angry Birds pen, footy team toothbrush etc) am putting in some American sweets I bought back, PJ's for the kids etc, I'd say put in whatever will make them smile
I've got cellophane rolls from Amazon so will wrap the little bits then wrap each on Christmassy cellophane and give them out Chrsitmas Ev e, haven't done this before so will be nice little suprise they aren't expecting0 -

I love it when it gets dark at 4pm and I shut the world out and have a casserole in the slow cooker ready for when my hubby comes home and we put all the blankets on the settee
I agree chirpychick! I do enjoy summer days and appreciate good weather, but one thing i've learned about myself is I am much more of a winter person. I love wrapping up warm in jumpers and boots, the frosty mornings, cold nights outside whilst we're snuggled up inside with blankets and hot chocolates. The air seems fresh and crisp and of course it makes me think of Christmas!0 -
Anyone on the lookout for tablets, have you seen this deal:

I can't recommend the Playbook or otherwise but there's a long thread there on HUKD about it.0 -
Hello my fellow Christmas Crackers. Im beggining to get a little excited now if im honest.
almost the end of Aug and i can smell Christmas sneaking up on us. II do have a question on Hampers.
I love the idea, and I have enjoyed reading in previous years about all of the things you all do with them.
My questions are.
1. Are my kids too old for them (DS 10, DD 8 and DS 4 (obvs he isnt too old)
2. What do you put all of the gifts into? Is it an actual hamper? If so where does one find them?
3. Any advice on what to actually put in their? Toys, DVD,s PJ,s Toothbrushes etc...
All advice most welcome.
Merry Christmas to one and all (wow first time ive said that, this early in the year)....x
my kids are ds 13, dd 11, ds 2 and dd 3months. the older kids still love their christmas eve hampers, last year i put jokey bits in like woopee cushions, etc they loved it. this year ive got free (apart from p&p) personalised bags from vistaprint to put there things in. they arrived yesterday and they are lovely x0 -
Guess what, I am so chuffed with myself.
I have just done a weekly food shopping list (daily wasn't working lol) thanks to Tesco vouchers it came in £1 under budget, then I did the baby shopping list (we buy a bit each payday) and that came in at 77p over budget but because I came under in the food budget I still have 23p to spare LOL. It means I am done buying baby stuff now except a gate for the dogs and 1 tub of formula next month.
Which means I do have a bit of extra to be getting everything I need to finish Christmas.
I have only a few things left to buy present wise (thanks to you guys I have trimmed my list a bit without feeling guilty)! I need :
posh tea
hot chocolate
biscuits
stamps
potato sticks
pringles
selection box's x 2
scratchcards x 4
lager
diet coke
gingerbread men
popcorn
celebrations tin
advent calendars x 2
^^ thats to finish some hampers/our stockings^^
also waiting for free delivery/sale at disney shop for a mug each for me and hubby.
And am trying hard to collect amazon vouchers to complete my order on there, I wont place it unless i get enough in survey rewards.
So now I can feel at ease with buying something off my Christmas food list (the not gifty food but food/treats for us) each week. Knowing it will be better than what I thought after my mini meltdown the other day.
I really thank you all so much for your support because I was feeling really blue about it all but I feel much better nowEverything is always better after a cup of tea0 -
P.s I know you can make mince pies and freeze them before cooking, can you make them cook them and then freeze them? I only have 2 trays you see and it says to leave in the trays, therefore I am wondering if I should get some little foil cases and freeze them in those, would take up less room in the freezer then too? Also could I do the same with apple pies? (hubby doesnt like mince pies)Everything is always better after a cup of tea0

Yes they will be fine frozen once cooked. Put them in a tupperware box with a piece of greaseproof between each layer. Apple pies no problem either.0 -

I love this thread
.
I ordered( can't remember if I have said) my uncle a bracelet band type thing he likes! Its from japan with free p'n'p. His birthday is 9th of Dec. May give him the bracelet some chocolate (he loves chocolate) and possibly a nice t-shirt and novelty socks.
Next week I am hoping to order my brother another Xmas present , possibly a dvd or book for his stocking (I am 20 my bro 23) and mum does us stockings every year.
