I want to put together a hamper (plastic trug?) to give to my daughter, son in law and their two little ones aged 3 and a half and one and a half by then. They will not be with us on Christmas day as they are staying with other relatives. I need some nice ideas (not too dear though) to put into the hamper. The relatives they are staying with are not very Christmassy, if you know what I mean, and I know they will miss all that.
Ideas I have alread: pjs for the boys, a bottle of wine, Christmas dvd for the children, bubble bath for my daughter to luxuriate in, nice biscuits, hot chocolate sachets, sweets for the older child, Christmas book for them to read together before they go to bed.
Tell you what, just writing this is making me realise how I will miss them but, I guess I have to share as I spend a lot of time looking after my grandchildren. I am lucky in that. Maybe I should put together a hamper for myself and my husband to stop me missing them too much on Christmas eve. LOL.0 -

a "santa plate" to leave cookies on
a "santa cup" to leave santas milk in
some reindeer food
santa stop here door knob hanger
slippers

chocolates
gingerbread men
candle
slippers or socks (every year i buy hubby christmas socks)
crisps and a dip (doritos dips have long shelf life)
a more grown up christmas dvd to watch when the children are in bed
mistletoe
pack of playing cards
my mum gives us a magazine each as she knows we wouldnt normally buy them ourselves
scratch cards

I have had a very productive day today.
We went to A$da and got a few baby things and found hubby a Monopoly Mug, last year they were between £5-£10 in Nov/Dec and he had really wanted one but I couldn't justify it but in A$da today they were £2.50 so I brought that instead of the Avengers one from Disney. I wasn't sure at first because I have got him the Avengers DVD and a T shirt so I was going to present them all together but he spotted it and said it was the shape of mug he preferred and he can see if becoming his favourite so my mind was made upand then went to checkout the sales at the garden centres. One of the presents still to buy was from hubby to me and he brought me a Yankee tart burner and 6 tarts (total £10) I am really chuffed as I have wanted one for so long!
We also got some posh looking biscuits reduced to £1 with a 2013 date on them for my mum and her bf's hamper, I got some mini marshmallows for our christmas eve hamper (hard to come by round here) also I got hubby an old fashioned red telephone box keyring for 99p for his stocking. Picked up a really funny Iron man birthday card for hubby reduced too.
So now present wise all I need to get is the stuff left for our christmas eve hamper, posh tea & hot chocolate for mum and her bf's hamper which I have decided im going to get in next weeks food shopping and a disney mug for me (£6.10 left in the budget) I think thats all
Then I can start on the food and stamps
I cannot wait to start seeing advent calendars and selection boxes etc back in the supermarkets
P.S
This is our Christmas Eve Hamper... Can anyone think of anything else cheap (under £10) to put in it?
Lager (hubby)
Diet Coke (me)
Hot Chocolate
Marshmallows - done
Gingerbread Men (our fave from m&s)
Popcorn
Celebrations tin
2 x scratch cards (1 each)
2 lotto tickets (1 each)
Arthur Christmas DVD - done
Christmas Story Book- done
Christmas Candle - done
Baby Christmas sleepsuit - doneEverything is always better after a cup of tea0 -
hello all, just had a catch up with this thread, it's so amazing how well you're all doing! I'm not organised at all yet!
As it's just 4 months to go now (yay!) I think it's about time I got sorted! As I still live at home, I usually just buy lots of little bits and bobs for my parents...smellies, gift sets, clothes, the usual things...so I think it's about time I got a few of them in before I panic at the last min thinking I haven't got enough and end up paying full whack! haha!
Merry 4 months until Christmas everyone!0 -

Some wonderful ideas in there, thanks. I love most of them so won't say any in particular! Really looking forward to doing it now, I might end up buying one of those Christmas pudding bin bags instead of a trug, in order to hold everything.:rotfl:0 -

(just a shame they dont do them for grown ups LOL!)
if you just search "toothbrush" more sparkly ones come up than that link but I wanted to be specific to the ones i meant.Everything is always better after a cup of tea0 -
those toothbrushes are fab!!!
Been a bit icky the last few days so the elf planning has taken a bit of a back burner.. which is ok, will give me something todo when kids are back at school lol
But today myself and my dh went shopping for the rest of the main xmas pressies.. Got a bit of a bargain on those too.. 2 xbox 360's (the 250gb ones) and 1 blue 3ds with the latest mario game for the grand total of £300...
The 3ds alone should have come to £180 but we got it for £120 after talking to the manager in gamestation... which is brilliant specially as the game only came out last week and is still selling for £34
So really thats me done! finished, complete! but i bet i still won't resist a few more stocking fillers. As and when i see them that is.. Rather chuffed that i don't have to stress over it any more though. and its not even september.. bring on the party! lolTotally debt free wohooo 2014
