:TCongrats to you both. There were a lot of entries (some very unoriginal ones too IMO) so you should both be really proud you made the grade:T:T

ETA: meeshpeesh which idea did you win with?

    Thank you! :)
I have no idea they didn't tell me in the PM!

The two I submitted were a vinyl clock and an Alice in Wonderland box of treats.

I thought there was a mix of cool original ones and some not so, loads were things I'd seen in the examples/previous threads :rotfl:

Thank you Princessfluffy, that made me smile and cry at the same time. It's sums exactly how I'm feeling just now. My heart aches at the loss of my Mum, but my kids are so excited about Christmas. I'm finding it hard to get into the spirit of things. But then I see just how much it means to them, and remember my happy childhood Cristmasses, I want them to remember theirs forever. X

Aw hun, sorry your so sad :-(
I enjoy making up little poems, im forever doing them in my head, about anything & everything, but wanted to share this one as I think we all feel like this at times. Hope you and your children have the very merriest christmas possible under the circumstances, and im sure their excitement will soon become contagious xx
It's not about getting what you want, It's about wanting what you get.

I actually love the build up to Christmas. My ds has asd and does not cope well with change. Having a large tree and lots of decs stresses him to much, so we don't bother. The actual day is very low key as we need to keep it very normal.
When I was little Christmas day was a big family day, with everyone going to my grandparents in Christmas Eve. Then we got a pub and everyone came to us.
It is now just me, ds and dd.

In the build up I still get the excitement I used to, but as it get close, reality kicks in and I know it is not going to the day I want it to be.

It's is little like being fatherless and dreaming all year he is a knight then finding out in December he is a down and out. Then in Jan being told it was a mistake and he wasn't your Dad and the dream starts again.

i know that feeling well ! for me the build up is more exciting than the day ,my dd wakes up excited at 6am opens her pressies then goes back to bed , after that the day feels a little flat but thats just how it has to be.

This has taken me all afternoon and those are just my presents to OH! May have gone slightly overboard...that's one of the problems with shopping over months, you lose track of how much you have got! :o

I can see what you mean. DS doesnt mind change like putting up decorations etc so I do get to enjoy all of that but I do plan festive days out or activities and it never turns out as a lovely happy day out because DS cant handle lots of things all at once or too much noise or people and he is very defiant and battles against pretty much everything we say at the moment. (am looking into Oppositional defiant disorder, going to ask the Dr next week) So it does tend to be more stressful and not the happy festive time I was hoping for! We do have nice parts of the day but things can switch so quickly. Also Im hoping we wont have any meltdowns on Christmas Day as DS tends to be worse at my mums because theres more people I think, he is usually not too bad on Christmas Day apart from the usual loudness and acting like a jumping bean so hopefully that will be ok. Sorry am rambling! :o Well done on winning the book, I would think Id won the £100 too tbh so you're not alone. :D
*SQUEEE!* those cheeses would be absolutely perfect for my cheese addict dad who ADORES the snowman film. Were they in the cheese fridge? Did I really just ask that? I mean normal cheese or festive cheese :rotfl:
I looked on the Asda website but couldn't find them, did find them on the creamery hawes website for £9 though

    x
:rotfl:That made me laugh cos its pretty much the sound I made when I saw them! :rotfl: £9! They are small so no way worth that!! They were on an end aisle just off the normal cheese aisle, with all the festive cheese if that makes sense lol. :)

Gosh this afternoon has been frustrating! I had my lesson observation this morning, which I couldn't quite judge - everyone seemed engaged and we stayed on task, but it wasn't my 'best' lesson. Anyway, after that, I decided to go and pick up a copy of Dandy [for my father and my brother - both of whom used to read it] as it is the last printed edition this week. I thought it would be an easy task. Instead, I've been two three independent newsagents and two supermarkets to no avail. I've given up for today, as I am conscious of the petrol involved. It is annoying though - to waste so much time [as there is nothing to show for it]. :/

I was planning on starting [or restarting] my Christmas wrapping tonight. I think I might, as that'll put me in a better mood. :o
I will have a look in Asda for you on Friday if you still cant find copies. :)

ive just been checking on my WH Smith's order and delivery is 3-7 working days from the date i recieved the email saying they were on their way not from the date of the order !!!!!! at this rate it will be easter before they arrive.

Oh weeclick hope you feel better soon :( I have asthma too and also feel like I have just pretty much been ill all winter so I know what you're going through!

Thank you :D Been to doctor who thinks I could have glanular fever but I think hes being a bit OTT! Ive had ear ache for 3 weeks but the throat ache only came on yesterday really although I suppose my glands have been swollen for a while but still.......I phoned my manager to let her know what he said and I get the feeling she doesnt believe me :( She said "well its strange you only complained about your ear ache" I had to point out Ive had a temp for over a week and literally couldnt sleep last night with the throat pain, Im probably over thinking it though and always see the worst in a situation when Im not well imagining managers swearing my name down cos Im not in work etc. OH even reckons Ive taken it the wrong way! Manager did say though that she doesnt want me coming in making others ill so need to see what the results are of the blood test and throat swab!

Gutted though most likely wont be going to our work xmas do. Its in a pub and the tablets Im on Im not allowed to drink will lose my deposit as well, its only £6 but its on principle lol I hate paying for something and then not getting anything for it / getting the benefit. oh well.

nothing else to report, a day infront of the sofa and pray the mouth swab comes back tomorrow and allows me back to work on Thursday otherwise I will be on a major guilt trip with more time off!
