Great pics skoobie
Excited that someone else from our April 13 brides thread is a Christmas nut too :j0 -
I also use it kind of like a Facebook 'like' button! :rotfl:
But as far as I know (and someone please correct me if I'm wrong) there is no way for anyone to tell whether you personally have or haven't thanked a post. They can see how many thanks a post has got but not who gave them. So I don't think there is really much etiquette exactly attached to it
if you click the "show me" button it shows who thanked a postThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
The word of the day today is. C O L D !
Shiver me timbers it's cold! Brrrrrrrrrrrrrr.
Morning all. xx
sk00bie1 Your crimble tree is gorge! I really REALLY need to get mine up soon!!
I had planned on another baking day today, but as the kitchen resembles the inside of an igloo, we're off out to buy a couple of blinds for the one window. It's a 7ft wide window, and there's no where I can get one from off the shelf, so to speak to fit it. So we're going to buy a couple of smaller ones to do the job. Love my house as I do, it's showing it's age bless it.
I must confess to being a little devious in my motives though. The shopping area we're going too, had a Hobbycraft open the other week, and there's a Dunelm, B&M Store, and a TK Maxx store too. *insert devious smile here*
I could also play the attentative wife and take hubbles into Boots and get him some tickly cough mixture, to ease his cough at bedtime! :A:rotfl:
I'm on the lookout for some outdoor lights..... hehehehe..
Well, needs must!
Have a fab day everyone x :wave:0 -
I use the 'thanks' button like facebook's 'like' as well.
e.g. if someone refers to one of my posts I don't necessarily need to say "thank you for saying that about my post!" in a seperate post but I will say "thanks" by using the button to acknowledge that I have seen it.
I use it if I think someone has been helpful to me as well e.g. if someone posts a bargain on a website that I go and look at.
'thanks' also go if someone has reallly made me laugh (but i don't necessarily need to post 'thanks for making me laugh'.
Occasionally I will thank all posts in a reading session so I know where I am up to (if on a marathan catch up).
must go - the floor has just been covered in a box of chocolate wheetos (thank fully with no milk)...............hmmm ok the hoovers (DS1 and 2) are clearning it up by eating it - might just leave them to it.loves how my "I've been censored" signature has been censored. LOL. Happy Christmas. :xmastree:0 -
I have set myself a limit for all none bill related expenses for December of £350 (including presents and food) and I will be coming as under it as I can!

wohoo Its finally december and Its offically ok to be excited about xmas at last, cant believe the amount of people the last few wks who've been so oh I dont even bother with xmas till dec I dont know why people bother before then  coz we love it and while your running around like a headless chicken trying to get everything finished on time and paying over the odds we'll all be enjoying the season stress free :j well almost;)
on threads like this one thats general chat I tend to thank most people as I read as a thanks for keeping it going and taking the time to post plus otherwise I just thank indivdual posts that are particually useful to me.
congrats to maggie what a wonderful suprise after a worrying start
JJ those cupcakes are fab will have to borrow a few ideas if thats ok
all the trees posted are beautiful always find it interesting how everyones are soo different but still so perfectly xmassy. the kids had a huge decorationing session yesterday which I'll rearrange slowly over the next few dayslooks great just still finding it strange to not have the traditional red/gold/green
sorry to hear some of your xmas fairs/fetes havent gone well esp after all the hard work you've put in. dont get dishearted and stop trying though all of your makes are great maybe if the crowds were bigger you'd have sold much more.
welcome to any newbies & appologies if I've missed anything else as only had a quick speed read to try and catch up a bit as not been on for a few days.this year do something that scares you for courage is not the absence of fear just the knowledge that some things are worth the risk0 -
well i am back from my first ever craft fair...very depressed:( between us my friend and I made £27.50 (she sold more of her things than I did). I sold some coaster calendars and two packs of ES mints.
Everyone was saying how slow it was:(. I don't know if people just weren't looking for things for Christmas or people in Durham don't like homemade/handmade things. there were only about 3 people with children and they were babies. They didn't even look at the "santa stop here" door hangers or Christmas mugs.
not sure if I will do another fair or not...at the moment no
so I have opened the box of Thorntons I had in the cupboard to cheer me up
I'm in Co. Durham, it was so icy and slippy underfoot yesterday that I didn't venture out. I wonder if that had any bearing on things? It must have done - I'm sure I wasn't alone.
I do feel for you after all your hard work.Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.0 -
My hobby is collecting Christmas tree ornaments - usually as holiday souvenirs. After some thirty years of collecting, I have hundreds - and a 4ft tree, that takes 3 hours to decorate!
It has to be a really special 'everyday' ornament to catch my eye these days, but the one below made me smile - I had to buy it. I wanted to share it with you - hope it brings a smile too!
I bought it in Home Bargains a few years ago, it was sat with other angels bearing slogans like 'Lil' Angel'.
You can clearly see what the instructions must have been to the factory in China ...

Had a busy day yesterday so not yet caught up with you all... After the elf arrival(which was met with lots of excitement from all) we had a walk up the town and got dd4's some new xmassy jumpers from primark, some more fleece pj's for me... thought it was the cold not helping with my insomnia and some jumpers for dh.. Then i went over to my mums in the afternoon with dd3 and 4 and we went to the local garden centre for a stroll around their xmas department, dd4's face was a picture! and my mum bought me a lovely xmas ornament with a light inside which is of santas workshop.. its got a lil sleigh on the top with the reindeer etc. its really lovely!
Today mistletoe elf had left the girls a task to make a big snowman as he was missing his friends at home.. They have made a 4ft tall cardboard snowman which is hanging on my living room door now, which we can hang the xmas cards from.. he's quite jolly! lol... they, the girls, are now covering my windows in snowflakes, before i assist them in decorating the xmas tree!!!
Having a wonderfully festive time already even with a full blown cold going on lol. I certainly hope its a xmas the girls forever talk about cause right now it feels like the best one we've had in a long time!Totally debt free wohooo 2014
