  • Hi Linda Lou and everyone else

I spent my time lurking on here, have only posted once before on here but love reading what you are all up to and being inspired.
My Decorations are going up next week as i have a week of work so also hope to finish my Christmas preparations then
I have to work Christmas morning :( , So OH has to cook will write step by step instructions for him.
My DD and DS are older so understand they have to wait to open the presents.

well i am back from my first ever craft fair...very depressed:( between us my friend and I made £27.50 (she sold more of her things than I did). I sold some coaster calendars and two packs of ES mints.
Everyone was saying how slow it was:(. I don't know if people just weren't looking for things for Christmas or people in Durham don't like homemade/handmade things. there were only about 3 people with children and they were babies. They didn't even look at the "santa stop here" door hangers or Christmas mugs.

not sure if I will do another fair or not...at the moment no

so I have opened the box of Thorntons I had in the cupboard to cheer me up

Oh no that is 'very depressing'. You're the second person on here today who had a bad fair.
I have been crafting all day for mine, and this is not making positive reading.
Mine is straight after school in the hall, so I am hoping a few people will come in and buy. It opens at 2.30 so the parents can come in without the kids first. Hopefully it will be cold, and they will all come in to stay warm. Mind you, that doesn't mean they are going to buy anything.

Hope you enjoy your chocolates. I am just going to have a Baileys to calm my growing nerves.:)

Oh Bunbun I am so sorry :( Do you usually sell online? It may be worth concentrating on that? I think I am being optimistic with my £50 make for the fete, perhaps I will cool my jets a little, really, really, really don't want to stress myself out for nothing :(

  • The tree is up! My first Christmas away from my parent's house - good thing the bf has amazing taste! Not only is the tree up and decorated we've gone all out and decorate the fire place, advent calendars are by the TV and we have lights up in the kitchen window (something my parents would never do! haha) even more excited now. It looks so lush with all our presents to each other under it :)

He described me on Twitter as a big kid and it's true - I am always in awe at Christmas. I love that I've retained this childhood trait (in fact I get worse as I get older!) and that I express it and lucky bf thinks the same way.

His mum was telling me he used to be as bad as me but the last few years hasn't really bothered as much but this year he's going to town for/with me and she actually thanked me for bringing him back to his old self!

Me and he even bout a 'first Christmas 2012' bauble today (not a baby one just a nice one with a snowman on the front) :) awww even more excited now!

  • Just got back from a fabulous evening at The Eden Project visiting Santa, they always manage to put on such a great performance..almost disney like, if you live locally, then you should book tickets you would not be disappointed, and its free (you have to pay for admission but they are doing their locals cards again)

Very excited to be going to Bath for the day tomorrow to go around the christmas markets....and my lovely sister brought me a tree today, and now our front room smells lovely :) will decorate it on monday when the kids get back from school! Think i'm gonna go for just baubles and lights, no tinsel this year

Not decorating yet but have wrapped the stocking fillers. Had a go at gingerbread house but it all broke and the "cement" wouldn't set. Will have another go next weekend...

Sorted the decs so the ones I want are near the loft hatch and set some more cola cube vodka going as my bottle I've decanted into was bigger than I thought...

Also stitched another dec for the tree.

Really fancied opening the chocs tonight but resisted...

own my own and feisty fidget i was in two minds whether to post about my fair experience as I didn't want to put you two off. I am sure yours will be totally different, most of the people today didn't seem to be that interested in what they were looking at or made comments like "so much beautiful things" and then walked on. the stall that I think took the most was one that was selling a poster of pubs and bars in Durham.

FF I don't sell online, do you?

  • Welcome to Linda Lou!

Coffee Addict, shame you have to work on Christmas morning but at least your OH can ensure you have a nice warm house with a lovely meal and presents to come home to!

Sorry to hear that - noticed you are in Durham. I work in the North East and my job involves working with lots of people, across organisations and in the wider public. This last week I have had to cancel more events than I've ever had to in the last ten years. So many people are off ill and not just from the usual flu and stomach bugs, I know scores of people who've had viral meningitis and scarlet fever! I was chatting to other colleagues who work in events recently and they were saying the same, they've never known some of the region's events be so quiet. Anyway, hope the chocolates are helping!

Bossymoo - this is the tried and tested gingerbread house recipe I make annually - I make 8 with my own template, and am yet to have a collapse :)

BunBun - I sell my jewellery online but not my paper bits (will be next year) I have posted photo's to my facebook and have received some interest, perhaps you could try that?

I have made a couple of sales on Facebook.
I am going to hand out business cards at fair, so even if people don't buy, they may have a look when they get home.
