    Welcome to Linda Lou!

Coffee Addict, shame you have to work on Christmas morning but at least your OH can ensure you have a nice warm house with a lovely meal and presents to come home to!

Sorry to hear that - noticed you are in Durham. I work in the North East and my job involves working with lots of people, across organisations and in the wider public. This last week I have had to cancel more events than I've ever had to in the last ten years. So many people are off ill and not just from the usual flu and stomach bugs, I know scores of people who've had viral meningitis and scarlet fever! I was chatting to other colleagues who work in events recently and they were saying the same, they've never known some of the region's events be so quiet. Anyway, hope the chocolates are helping!

the chocolates are helping and there aren't many left:eek:

that's interesting about events in the region being so quiet but a bit scary to hear there are so many cases of viral meningitis and scarlet fever.

I may look at selling online but had never thought about selling my things until my friend suggested doing the fair.

Havent had a chance to catch up on the thread since yesterday so going to settle down to a good read now! Spent 7 and a half hours (yup!) shopping today my legs are so sore right now but most importantly its officially christmas month, I got my new christmas pjs today and we are in a fortunate position to enjoy christmas and the build up this year so cant complain!

Thought I'd add a few photos before I forget of all the cool things I was able to pick up today and a few very quick shots of the local christmas market (will be going again next week and get better ones)

a very quick photo of the little log cabins each stall holder gets every year, very cute, very festive but as you can see always very packed!

(Please ignore all the rubbish on the top, I had decided to empty all the little odds and sods from pockets before taking the photo lol) saw this banner in the works thought it was cute and ALOT cheaper than all the garlands we were finding this year!

Little tins from HB for 39p will be perfect for the chocolate slabs although the sales assistant did give me weird looks trying to describe these cute little cheap empty tins lol

cute bags for the kids fudge and at 3 for 2 was quite handy!

thought this was really cool! And the perfect gift for our personal trainer at the gym (might get OH one too) and only £4.99!

All these tree pics are making me feel more festive, they look great :D

JJ - I absolutely ADORE your christmas cupcakes :T You have put so much work into decorating them.

Chicky - Loving the lego Chocolates, thanks for the mould link :D :j

Gettingtherequickly - those cards sound lovely, did you manage to get a picture of them at all?

Bunbun - Sorry to hear the craft fair didn't go well :( Sounds like you were unlucky getting a quiet one. Have you thought about doing a school fair instead? You are guaranteed to get the right target group then. I hope you aren't too downhearted xx

My first fair is on Thursday - I'm getting a little nervous, but hoping it will be fine :) I am hoping to make a minimum of £50, which is still very little profit, considering it's £20 for the table.

My children LOVED their little elf who came to stay today, they are chuffed to bits and my DS (7) who I thought was getting a little old for joining in really surprised me, he was off making up a little bed for him and I spotted him giving the elf a kiss goodnight earlier, so cute :T

  • Good morning everyone:wave:

As a newbie, pls could one of you lovely Xmas elves explain the correct etiquette for using the thanks button at the bottom of each post? Is it manners to thank each one I read?

Sorry for a question so early, but I don't want to offend anyone by not clicking, or by clicking if I shouldn't IYSWIM!

Thanks in advance, will be back later. Have a lovely day, everyone!

I personally use the thanks button the same as a facebook like button (terrible I know) - that's not to say that I don't like all the posts that I don't hit the thanks to, just that something in particular caught my eye on the ones that I do - sorry if that didn't make any sense :rotfl:

I have managed to lose 10 of my envelopes for our photograph Christmas cards - gutted doesn't even come close to describing it :( For the first year ever, I wanted my cards completed on the 1st - well, I have managed most, but seeing as the cards are an irregular shape 133mm x 185mm, I have no spare envelopes :( I have even checked staples online to see if they carry anything - sadly everything seems way too big - so I am going to have to order some, which means I will lose my oomph waiting for them to come and I fear it will be the usual not finished until the 23rd scenario - no one that needs theirs posting ever gets them :(

I also use it kind of like a Facebook 'like' button! :rotfl:

But as far as I know (and someone please correct me if I'm wrong) there is no way for anyone to tell whether you personally have or haven't thanked a post. They can see how many thanks a post has got but not who gave them. So I don't think there is really much etiquette exactly attached to it :)
