    I love the Christmas Radio Times too. Everyone used to circle what they wanted to watch, so we'd end up with circles in 5 different colours covering every page. Confusing.

    P.S. 'Christmas' is trending on Twitter right now. :)

  • Welcome maria and the imps, you are most welcome - any Christmas nuts are! :beer:

    You sound very creative and have made some lovely things so far. Very inspiring! I always inted to make things for people, but i've been working on some cross stitch decorations for weeks now that I don't suppose should take that long so I fear I will run out of time to make much before the end of the year! :o

    I'm sure in the past i've seen lots of Christmas things creep onto the shelves late August time, especially chocolate etc in the supermarkets.....

    i went in the 99p store yesterday and they had "the night before christmas" book and a couple of christmas puzzle books for kids. :p

    Re: radio times. for those that don't know they tend to do 5 or 6 issues for £1 promotion in November time which include the double christmas issue :money: this is the only time i subscribe. love that double issue

    Maria (stop following me :rotfl:) . We deliberatly stay at home every year so as not to put any parents out. They know where we are and are welcome to come see us in December/ January if they want but I do not do staying in hotels at that time of year.

    what is this 'Bents' place?? I know it's in the thread somewhere off for a nosey.
    loves how my "I've been censored" signature has been censored. LOL. Happy Christmas. :xmastree:

    I do a family hamper for all of us, so I think it will depend on how much your planning on putting in.

    Ours will have the following;

    Reindeer magic food*
    Santa's mince pie plate*
    Santa Key*
    Stocking*
    PJ's for each member of the family
    New slippers for dd
    Choc coins
    pic n mix for us all to share
    I am going to try to look for an xmas tumbler style cup for dd
    DVD (this year will be Robbie the Reindeer funnily enough!)
    Maybe a sticker book

    The * items are the same things we put in each year. Even when our next dd is born then we will still be putting everything into one hamper.

    Just had a read through through everyone's 'traditions' keep them coming it's lovely to read!

    Ours normally involve;

    Getting EVERY shops christmas catalogues and once we're done dd makes a 'picture letter' to Santa as it's easier for her to say what she wants! Though this year she has started to learn to read/write so think I will do pictures and writing.

    I have done the circling/highlighting the tv guide since I was a little girl and still do it now I'm not so little! And yes it is the only time of the year that we buy a tv guide (and moan about Crocodile Dundee/lethal weapon/insert some naff film itv have decided to put on!)

    We give dd to my mil for the weekend and spend the day in Birmingham centre last min shopping/german market etc just us as a couple inc breaks for hot choc!

    We put up the tree & decs as soon as possible, normally the first weekend of December however it HAS to come down before new year, pref the day after boxing day as I cant stand starting a new year with the tree up etc - strange huh!! Luckily DH sees my logic!

    We see Santa at some point although dd never wants to talk to him, just hands over her letter! She will be six in November so hoping she will talk this year.....

    We go to a panto between xmas day & new year to break the week up. We're going on the 28th December this year.

    Oh and almost forget we have had George Jangles the xmas elf visit us for the past two years and dd loves it!

    That's all I can think of for now that we *usually do* however I'm due 21st November so I am a little sad that wont be able to do our B/ham couply weekend and unsure if we will put our tree up on the first or second weekend of december, depending on when baby decides to make an appearance! To keep things still christmassy but at home I have thought we can make xmas biscuits with dd (she doesnt like cake!) & make xmas crafts. A christmas drive to see peoples lights would be nice but no one really bothers where we live (Coventry).
