Not much use for Christmas but might help for Birthdays coming up, lots of magazines are 5 issues for £5, most are a magazine a month. Just got my Mum an Antique one and also a cooking one for her 60th.

Thank you soooooo much for all you amazing ideas for christmassy things to do and places to visit in December.

I really appreciate you all taking the time to reply and share your ideas and I am so excited now and looking forward to trying new things. Xmas feels just around the corner.

Some other things we do/have done which have been mentioned by others on this thread :- reindeer food (bought every year, and will be done again this year, and is given in xmas eve hamper). Xmas Mr Men books (bought one for the last 3 or 4 years, wil need to check what titles we have but I think we have got all the variants now unless a new book comes out).

Lunar - Yes please, a meet up of the North based xmas nutters in Bents sounds ace. : )

Bought a couple of tiny xmas hamper bits today in Asda. Bought DS a Marvel Avengers torchlight thing (£3 from £6) which is in the shape of ironmans head. Bought DD some glittery stickers (50p from £1) with the words OMG and LOL and all the other things that her and teen mates come out with all over them.

Not sure if this is of any interest to anyone but they seemed to have a lot of toys reduced, I guess to make way for the new xmas ones. The main reductions seemed to be on hotwheels type sets and also board games such as Monopoly etc (Think it was £6 something)

I saw a game that I nearly bought DS (£8 I think) called Piranha Panic but was genuinely torn as to whether it looked ace or totally pants. Do any of you have this game as I might nip back tomorrow?

Sorry for so much randomness in my post, but finally, I thought you all might appreciate this - My mate has decided theres a new condition (which I must have) called CCD (Compulsive Christmas Disorder) Lol

I keep telling her I call it "being organised" : )

    Hello :)

I just brought this for my bubs
    http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/0399215441/ref=ox_ya_os_product

This is the one I was given when I was little I must have been about 3 or 4 as it was published in '88.

I have mine still but I read it to myself every year and I wasn't very gentle with it so I wanted a new one for my baby.

    It is a beautiful book.

They don't have any brand new but I'm not opposed to 2nd hand as long as they're good quality for a special book like this.

Thought others might like the recommendation.

LOL BTW - stop buying the robbie reindeer trilogy!! I am awaiting my amazon voucher to come through before buying it and there are only 2 left :'(
Everything is always better after a cup of tea

    Morning All

I have woken up and remembered a couple of things we always do...

I always get Boots xmas catalogue on the day it comes out and I always buy the xmas double Radio Times on the day it comes out (even though I never buy a tv guide the rest of the year)

I think these aren't a tradition, and are more of a law if you are xmas obsessed like me. : )

  • Agree that the Christmas Radio times is a must buy too
Love sitting down and circling what I want to watch or record

Can't believe it's 1st August. They'll be Xmas stuff in the shops next month :)

So true about radio times! It's the only time I ever get one and I work for boots so as soon as they're in that's my lunch time sorted for the next few days lol.

I LOVE it when the Boots Christmas catalogue comes out!! :j It's so exciting taking it home and having a good flick through it.

I'm sure in the past i've seen lots of Christmas things creep onto the shelves late August time, especially chocolate etc in the supermarkets.....

    Morning everyone!
Has anyone been to the wartime Christmas event at The Tank Museum in Bovington, Dorset before? I was there yesterday and they have posters everywhere for it- it looks nice.
We have always gone to the Christmas Wonderland at Paulton's Park before, but after 13 years, I think we need a change. It also seems much more expensive since Peppa Pig came to stay as well (although the decs in PP land are very pretty).

  • can i join please? a little bot about us at christmas, i have 3 children 3,5 and 8 but im ashamed to say that we dont have many xmas traditions because to keep the parents happy we always spend xmas day with one set or the other and have only ever spent one xmas at our house.

so anyway this year i have put my foot down and told my husband that from now on we will be spending every xmas at our house so im able to start doing things my way and making traditions with the children. the parents are welcome to join us but we will be at home!

this year we have moved as well and gave all our xmas decorations away (except the special ones) so i get a new tree! i like to make alot of my presents and only buy for people who dont apprechiate home made and the children.

i brought adopt a reindeer for my brother who is 30 but is like a big kid!

and ive made a fishing record for another brother and im sewing him a fishing sampler so that is another present nearly finished

and ive made my niece a felt bag and im going to fill it with hair bands and stuff from poundland.

i have lots of ideas its just a matter of getting time to do them all lol

hope no one minds me gateccrashing

    maria
