Re: radio times. for those that don't know they tend to do 5 or 6 issues for £1 promotion in November time which include the double christmas issue :money: this is the only time i subscribe. love that double issue
Maria (stop following me :rotfl:) . We deliberatly stay at home every year so as not to put any parents out. They know where we are and are welcome to come see us in December/ January if they want but I do not do staying in hotels at that time of year.
what is this 'Bents' place?? I know it's in the thread somewhere off for a nosey.
It's a garden center. the christmas display isv amazing and they make up a huge lemax christmas village with a train. it is expensive but if you like one of there themes its well worth going to their january sale.DFW NERD NO.656 DEBT FREE 24TH NOVEMBER 2010 TOTAL DEBT AUGUST 2007 £39000MFiT T2 NO.56 WE OWN [STRIKE]25%[/STRIKE] 31.5% OF OUR HOUSE SO FAR!0 -
I agree it has been great reading everyone's traditions. Christmas has always been good for me but I can't really think of any traditions!
My mum always made me a yummy trifle because I don't like Christmas cake. I also like to try to go to Midnight Mass, however it's my brothers' birthday on Christmas Eve so i've often been celebrating with him as not many other people are around on that day. I do host a dinner party every year for my friends that has now become a tradition, I really enjoy that! My partner and I have been ice skating every year we've been together and I want to keep that up as it's fun!
I live with my partner now but we still stay at our parents over Christmas, we alternate which parents we stay with each year. We always have a lovely Christmas but neither parents seem to have many traditions!
I want to have loads when we have children!0 -

quick question im going to do xmas eve hampers, now do i do 1 each for each child and stop the arguments, or do one big one or 2, one for the girl and 1 for the boys i cant decide!!!
:rotfl:
One big hamper. Why buy many packs of popcorn when you can pop a couple in?
Also things like pj's you could wrap individually if you wanted.
I echo the idea above. + put a sticker book in, colouring book, new story book.
i tend to use mine on christmas eve day (if that makes sense) so a cake making kit, bread mix etc go in too. It's a garden center. the christmas display isv amazing and they make up a huge lemax christmas village with a train. it is expensive but if you like one of there themes its well worth going to their january sale.

i do 3 seperate xmas eve hampers for my kids and arange them together on the top of the stairs along with the things that are there every year
they each have;- new pjs, dressing gowns and slipper socks
- a bag of reindeer food
- torch for scattering the reindeer food
- new cup
- snowman soup
- pack of choccies
- character bath set (this year ds2 has thomas, dd has barbie havent found one for ds1 yet!)
- something else which is fun but useful - last year it was character bath towels, year before it was shaped pillows for there beds and year before that it was character fleeces for snuggling on the couch - not sure what this years will be!
- santas own cup
- santas own place
- santa stop here sign
- christmassy book
- letter in poem form from santa explaining he has left the magic key on the christmas tree
when we return the hampers have magically appeared
the rest of the night goes along these lines;- get bathed using the new character bath stuff
- dried and dressed in new pjs, dressing gowns and slipper socks.
- into the garden with the torches to plant the stop here sign and scatter the reindeer food
- back in to search the christmas tree for the magic key
- choccies and snowman soup in their new cups.
- cuddle with daddy while he reads the christmas story
- put of the milk and cookies for santa on his own plate and glass

Its been so busy since I was last on - so busy in fact that I have had to take notes to remember all I wanted to say/ respond to :rotfl:
Complusive Christmas Disorder :rotfl:
Circling the Radio times - also do this - surely everypne does? Too much great TV to miss!! (and quite alot of naff stuff too but we love it!)
You guys have made me realise just how close to Xmas we really are - someone pointed out Xmas bits will be i shops next month! Didnt actually realise - cant wait now and for Boots catalogue too!! :j:j
Welcome to Maria and the imps!! Re hampers I do my 2 children's individually but there are many things that could be shared within them. They get reindeer food each, snowman soup in a new mug each, popcorn, sweets, new dvd (usually xmas themed - and no, I didnt buy Robbie reindeer lol), new Xmas book, some kid of arts/ crafts set (usually from poundshop), small toy or puzzle, new pjs each, new bath stuff each. Very similar to Carlamaria, mine get thirs in the day and spend the day doing arts/crafts and playing with toy/ puzzle. Then bath, new pjs, new dvds with popcorn/sweets/ hot choc. Then xmas book then bed.
Also forgo to add reindeer food, massive tv marathons and baking / arts and crafts to my Xmas traditions. Also the major one is going to my parents. Couldnt imagine being in my house at Xmas just the 4 of us - toooo quiet for me (usually about 20 people at my parents) !! In fact we used to stay there Xmas Eve until our 2nd child was born and now just go in the day (they live 15 mins away). The first year we couldnt go I spent the whole Xmas Eve crying :rotfl: Did try going to OH's parents one year and then my parents the next but coudnt get used to that - again too quiet - its like a normal day there so reverted back to my parents. Did offer my Mum the year off 2 years back (first year she has ever had off) and was worst disaster ever!! Well first squeezing 20 quests for dinner into my 2 bed flat (as opposed to my parents 4 bed house) was madness. Had to remove sofas, tv from living room on Xmas Eve!! Living became one huge dining room with only the tree and tables and you could hardly move for the tables lol The living room all had to be put back together after dinner but the men worked pretty quickly. On the dinner front my parents cooked the Turkey and meats (as turkey wouldn even fit in m oven) so all I had to do was potatoes, veg, pigs in blankets, yorkshires and desserts. Easier said that done for 20 people on 4 hobs and a tiny oven (my mum has a range). Well, I forgot the pigs in banklets and yorkshires!! :eek:Luckily noone noticed till after dinner but I have never quite lived that one down lol Never again0
