Interesting the discussion about Beauty Boxes and how ‘strict’ this thread should be.

First up I admit I am terrible I spend Money I don’t have on skincare/toiletries/make up etc and I have a massive stash.
Despite trying really hard I am not really making much on an inroad into using things up. Partly because I enjoying buying products and partly because I like the comfort blanket a bookcase full of smellies will give me.

I enjoy getting Beauty boxes – I get GB and am waiting on my first SSB – as they are like getting a little present to me. I don’t think they are good value for money as I generally only rate one of the products in the boxes each time. I probably will go back down to one box but want to compare the two I’ve ordered.
Also I can fulfil my beauty obsession with a one or two boxes each month that’s a dammed site cheaper than treating myself to one or two bits every time I go into town.
And; I may find my HG product.

Talking of HG products I have a stash dilemma.
Clynol Moisture+ is my favourite shampoo - and I will buy it at any price as I like the way it leaves my hair. My dilemma is that I must have about 8-10 bottles of shampoo in my stash and I don’t know what to do with them.
I have no friends or family nearby to give them away to (and my BF shaves his head); and the cost of postage is too much to make it worth selling them. I really should just throw them away although my brain wants me to keep them just in case.

There are a few other products the same, as TBH if something has been stashed for over a year (and lots have) I’m never going to use it. This applies to a huge amount of my stash.

Part of me just wants to go in their with a few bin bags and sling it, and TBH this would probably stop me spending so much as I wouldn’t be able to hide it in the “hard it for ages” pile.

But throwing so much away??? Not sure I could do it?
There really isn’t any other giving away option for me so do I just keep it just in case??

Have to say I agree with Willowbee too.
I bought the LIB box and it gave me a chance to try out brands that I would never have even considered, for example the Sisley Cream, which I thought was a total false economy and wouldn't dream of paying £200 for a moisturiser.

However, that was the only box I bought and I think if you're getting a few a month then it quickly adds up. Personally I would prefer to treat myself to one full size product but we're all different!

I still enjoy the reviews that other people give of what they get in their boxes and have added some of those on my list to try :)

    UU:
john frieda shampoo - WNBA, has SLS in it. also i think its whole spiel of having "inca oil" is a marketing ploy. looked it up and theres little to suggest its going to suddenly make my coloured hair beautiful again.
john frieda conditioner - same as above.
bioderma moisturiser - WBA (if we had it over here ) sinks in fast and according to the sachet comes in huge bottle so very :money: ah well.
Elemis Shower Gel - WBA but only in a kit, i think its overpriced to buy individually.
chloe body lotion - WNBA, perfume body lotions are always ridiculously priced for what they do.

    IN:
Liz Earle C&P 100ml kit - got this for free for voting in the sunday times beauty awards :j:money:

also, with the not so sad demise of the john frieda shampoo, my whole stash is officially SLS and SLES free! :D:T:j:beer::A only taken me since 2009 to manage it :rotfl:

That is quite an achievement, I think my long term aim is to be SLS and SLES minimal, as natural as possible and no animal testing, short term I need to use up everything and establish a HG list from that and then look again.

This site is a great place to look in on, great people with lots of helpful advice and information, gsh too. I enjoy the reviews posted on UU, and I think the IN's help us to keep track better, not suggesting that we have to include the value in our post, but it might help some of us if we tot up the value of our spending each month and keep a running total, when we get to the situation where we cannot afford the holiday we would like, the car upgrade, saving for a house etc it is a bit thought provoking to see how much we have spent elsewhere. I started writing each day's spends in my diary, but dropped off doing it, time to start again I think. Also the image of that American girl's stash and storage that someone posted recently keeps coming to mind.

I do a stall at the church coffee mornings some weeks and decided next time to try and sell some unwanted BS body butters which are £12 full but think I got for £3,assorted body lotions I bought(God knows why as I don't like body lotion:rotfl:)some small Occitanne soaps and a few other bits which I am planning to sell between £1 for the soaps and £5 for the body butter.no idea how they will go(if at all ) but at the rate I get through them I will be very old before they all go so worth a try.Incidentally hav enot bought any Bs stuff for months(or Lush) and I used to buy loads so a couple of Beauty boxes a month is nothing:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:so maybe car boots(when it gets warmer) are a way to go if you want to reduce the stash?
shame I only had sons as they don't want any of the stash:rotfl:

I only ever put the value in when i am checking in a Beauty Box so i can justify that i am getting value for my money :D Keeps me feeling less guilty haha

Have you thought of donating to favoured charity shop, some of the very large ones are very picky if products do not have seals, I was told (not sure if it is true) that they are concerned about deliberate contamination, particularly if they might test medical products on animals, but I have found the small local ones are not. I have been weeding out things I know I will not use and taking them to the local animal charity shop and the local hospice shop. Just a thought, it is very liberating to open stash drawers/cupboards and see only valued useable items, and of course you are helping others too.

Not sure i'd feel comfortable donating products of unkwown age??

Surely the charity shops have to be careful what they sell?

Amyb, I used hated shampoo and shower gel for a long time as cleaning products. It kept the waste (in my view) down as it was still being used but I didn't have to put up with it on me. It somehow smells nicer when you use it to clean your loo and foams up lovely!
