Hello SuiDreams  I'm doing a bit better, thank you. I'm still having to sleep a lot (I didn't wake until 4pm today!) but I feel like I'm on the up. I'm really pleased to be back here as it's so cheering
(I've ordered the Lux Box as I've been wanting to try the Balance Me Eye Cream, so it's perfect for meI hope that I get the purple eye shadow...)
I've just looked up Tri Coloured Shelties and they are beautiful. How lucky to have two
VALM - that looks like a really great LE offer but I must resist! :rotfl:
Minerva Windsong - thanks so much for the L'Occitane/Glamour offer infoI would love to use more of their skincare so I'll try to buy a couple of copies (if I'm fast enough!)
Ems June - my weakness/enthusiasm is definitely facial skincare too :rotfl:
Wondercollie - :rotfl:at your handsome fellow of a dog costing the same to groom as your own cut and colour! :rotfl:He sounds wonderful
Tokkiandoliver - you have some lovely things in your stash list! Well done for getting so many of your categories under control :T
HappyTorty - I think that the Garnier Essentials 2-in-1 Make Up Remover is really good, as do lots of other people here. It seems to come up on 2-4-1 offers pretty frequently. It's very gentle and surprisingly good at taking eye make-up off(My HG cleanser is the Elemis Pro-Collagen Cream Cleanser & I have a stockpile that I've bought via January sales or eBay, otherwise I'd say it's too expensive full-price)
I'm like Itzybitzy in that I like trying different samples so that I don't get bored :rotfl:I find the beauty boxes really exciting and on the whole it has stopped me making random buys of full-size products (I had a bit of a fail recently but I really have improved). I either like sample sized things to try or giant-sized bargain priced versions of favourite things! I'm still working out what my HGs are in lots of categories so the samples are helping with that.
What a long post! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:0 -
I actually think that the beauty box trend will burn itself out. There don't seem to be enough new products/brands to share amongst all the boxes! I have had some wonderful things and I enjoy the surprise (I found my HG body oil thanks to an early GlossyBox - Weleda Pomegranate oil
). (I stopped GlossyBox early on just because I didn't like the way they sent different things out to everyone). It probably makes more difference to me to have things delivered to my house - it's nice to get post and I rarely get out to look in real shops, so don't browse and discover things that way (just as well!! :rotfl:). I've enjoyed trying things that are out of my normal price range too, even though I'd be stuck if I found a massively expensive HG item :rotfl: (I've found that if I'm patient I can buy the Weleda oil cheaply on eBay as people sell it on from their beauty boxes/special offers
) Part of the reason that I have built up a stash of products that I need to use up is that I'm really curious about things so the sample sizes are satisfying that curiousity in a helpful way. Having said that, I would be surprised if I'm still subbed to beauty boxes in 6 months time and I'm happy not to list what I've received if it helps others here (although I'd still offer a review when something is used up). It was useful to me to hear what SuiDreams received today though as it means I get to try something that has been on my wishlist for a while (Balance Me Eye Cream), for less money and with a load of things thrown in for 'free' (I'll probably sell the SteamCream).

Thank you for allowing me my 'box rant!'
I'm pleased you have your own thread, Beautyboxers, because heaven only knows what this one would be like if you didn't!!! I do appreciate why they are useful, it's just the encouraging of buying- and there's been a lot of that, be honest, - that completely flies in the face of the spirit of this thread .
I learned a new word today thanks to Wondercollie - 'pawdicure' , :rotfl: I think that's brilliant. My daughter's Springer doesn't usually need one thankfully, as she keeps her claws short on pavements.
Edit:- Now that's a sensible and balanced argument, good one Willowbee.Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.0 -
Thank you, And. That was very nice of you to add that. :A

Mr. Collie walks on sidewalks all the time, but his nails grow quickly! The groomers love that we request a pawdicure and have listed it that way. We used to have an Elkhound !!!!! and my husband referred to her day at the groomers as "spa day" hence the pawdicure! And no we don't get the nails painted! That's for poodles...0

I've practically graduated in foot creams. I have a smalll tube of the Elemis one on the go and a tube of Flexitol Heel Balm. I opened a sample tube of Origins Brighter by Nature the other day but don't like it. It's very oily so am going to relegate this to foot cream.
I've decided not to go for the LE TSV. I simply can't afford it. I've spent enough already this month on QVC plus I have a hair appointment for a colour on Saturday plus am going out on my friend's leaving do tomorrow. The sad thing is that this one is full of products that I love bar the hand wash and hand cream but I'd happily use the hand wash and am sure could find a home for the hand cream or even ebay it. However, to talk myself out of buying I need to remind myself that I'm meant to be only buying when I need things. I recently bought a C&P and ISBT from QVC as it was on EP which I'm still paying for. Wouldn't have minded having a spare C&P as Emma may finish that soon. The ISBT lasts for 4 months and has only just been opened. re: moisturiser - whilst I want to return to using LE I have a couple more sample sizes of Origins and a full pot of Elemis Pro collagen night cream to get through. Love the body cream and would have saved this for my hols and find the Superbalm really handy for lips and cuticles but have a Carmex and Avoplex oil on the go. So do I NEED it? No. Will wait this one out. Unless it sells out QVC will keep putting this kit out afterwards anyway. Thing is, I think it will sell out.Back for the No Buying Toiletries challenge. I pledge to only buy when I run out of a product that is not already in my stash no matter what wonderful emails land in in my Inbox or threads I read on MSE re: glitches!

I really enjoy using the sample sizes at the moment there are so many things out there that I want to try and am still looking for my HG items, I still have some full sizes of products that aren't suitable for me and am trying to use them up but using the sample sizes as well when I get bored. I'm starting a list of things I like and WBA to try and narrow this down to HG item, but there are only a couple of things on there so far. I only intend to keep one beauty box and not purchase anything else until stash is gone and I have a better idea of what I like/my skin likes.
Regarding removing Make-up I usually use a cleanser (still looking for HG Item, so far favourite is Claudalie Gentle Cleanser) and a separate Eye Make up remover (currently using Clinique Take off the Day, which I like, but trying others as well). I occaisonally use Make remover wipes especially if I'm in a rush. I get the No.7 ones when on offer or use the Simple ones. My worst purchase was the Quickies Eye Makeup remover wipes, these actually made my eyes sting and ended up in the bin.0 -
Interesting discussion on Beauty Boxes, I have for some time agreed with the sentiments expressed by mcculloch29, I have enjoyed the reviews of the contents as posters have used them up, but for a while felt all the excitement and "must have" attitude is a long way from the spirit of MSE, especially as a lot of people must have been paying £30-£40 per month for boxes, plus whatever else they were spending on other items. Don't get me wrong, I feel it is a free country and we should be able to spend our disposable income on whatever we please, but having read quite a few of the threads on DFW and seen the stress caused by massive debt from "wanting to have it all", and no savings and redundancy and short time working or illness I have been aware of how quickly things can go wrong.
Lecture over, but I comment, as one who had a bit of a collecting mentality, books, cd's skincare, nailpolish, yarn, beads. I read the books, play the music, eventually use the craft supplies, but I find with beauty items, that if I do not get on and use them up, they seem old hat and the newer things on the market seem so much more desirable and get used first, so with help from everyone here I am plodding through stashed items, making notes of things you recommend and hopefully one day will graduate - not for a while tho':o
P.S. Just the Editors ox so far, at least 3 things I had really wanted to try, but no more until I have used the make-up bag full of samples, sachets and gwpsThe best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time. (Abraham Lincoln)0
