Macpep do you work for a large company? You might find that there is a company policy covering dependants illnesses. In my organisation I think (no kids so can't swear to it) that we get a couple of days a year for dependants illnesses which are paid and any further absences are unpaid. Your office may be the same. Could you ask to amend the absence to a holiday instead so you don't lose out financially?

I do, I had a sleepless night last night, I am going to email HR this morning to ask them exactly what the policy is as there was nothing in the employee handbook about it. I am going to ask for a word in his office this morning as I feel its discrimination & I am being punished for having a sick child, as I said, If I had been ill, he would still have cancelled his meeting & I would have been paid  I only have 3 days left for the year, I have my two weeks summer, christmas & keep the rest for nursery trips, docs, dentist appointments etc

    Morning all

Kazm - I replied ( I think, after a long reply, I I hit send, and had to re-log in, in by that time it was 11.40)

    You are all fantastic!
A whole range of wonderful ideas.
Though I rather like Pigpen's bin idea, I too would capitulate before the bin men arrived. I have paid for most of the stuff and would find it rather hard to chuck it away.
I am really taken with the idea of filling up baskets and dumping it in their rooms, and I'm going to include the dirty cups and dishes left around the place too. Thanks for the tip Kazmeister. It will be an evening collection and I will have nothing to do with it after it passes the portals of their caves. (which is what their rooms look like most of the time)
I also like the idea of dealing out the jobs two at a time such as gtx suggested. Iam going to put a whiteboard in the kitchen and put two jobs each on them. If they don't do them by the specified time then they lose £1 per job from their allowance. Iam going to be strong and stick it out with the complaints and arguments.
When that is up and running I will turn to the greater chores such as cooking and washing and incorporate those too like Save Dosh.
Thank you all for your excellent advice and I will let you know how it goes.
    Kind regards
    Slowdown:)

Before you speak to him, write down what's upsetting you and your arguments. Remember, from his point of view, you weren't in the office meaning he had to cancel a meeting, and you weren't even sick. He might not understand where you're coming from unless it's clearly explained/presented to you especially if there's a generational gap.

Hope it all goes well for you. Xxx

    Morning All

Macpep - hugs and strong vibes heading your way.

FF - HHmetime - Half Hour me time - ie doing what you want to do - soak inthe bath with a bottle of wine, crafting, just put your feet up with a magazine - it's up to you.

I didn't end up doing anything last night - ended up having long talks with DH - over the phone as obv he's not here in the week so nothing got done. I'm just about to do a HHI and then I'll get dinners done and it'll be pretty much time for work. DS has football tonight but apart from that I'm hoping to manage to get a few things done.

    Have a good day all

    Hugs

    Morning

Macpep - if you do work for a large company, just ask to see your boss and tell him out of courtesy that you will be contacting HR to check your rights regarding leave for sick children. That way he knows you are looking into it and doesn't feel you are going behind his back. I find it hard to believe that there wouldn't be a policy and that you would be entitled - there was someone who I managed before that had no-one around and was allowed lots more paid time off than you have had. It could be that your boss was just annoyed and did this in the heat of the moment because he was annoyed about his meeting and the policy will sort this out. Not accepta ble to put you through this stress

Slowdown - good luck with your mission. I have a DH who says, we've lived like this for 10 years, no point trying to change and 2 DS's 4 & 5 who will turn out just like him if I don't do something now. We now have 2 x 5 minutes clear up time at night and that sorts it out but I'm at a different stage with my kids. I like the bin bags but think I would put them in the loft - I couldn't throw things I had paid good money for!

Busy day yesterday, a couple of unexpected visitors so I got all my list done but not a lot from this list. So, I'm out 08.30-3.30 today so I'll see what I can get done:

Monday - Bit of everything to kick start the week
    Level Two
    HHPaperwork/replying to emails/paying bills
    Level three
    Clean WM and/or DW filters

    Tuesday - Master Bedroom
    level one
Clear the floor, put all clothes away
Hoover (under the bed too if possible)
    Level Two
    Dust at least one surface
Polish any mirrors or clean the window
Sort somebodies undies and get rid of anything holey or lacking elastic
    Level three
    Wipe some light switches
    Extras
Sort any nail polishes ready for summer, binning any that resemble glue

Wednesday - Kitchen and Dining Room
    Level one

    Clear and wipe the worksurfaces
    Shine your sink
    Level two
Wipe the hob and front of the oven
    Descale the kettle, iron etc
Sort your recipes/cookbooks and look for inspiration
    Level three
    15 minutes flinging
    HHMe time

Morning all, managed a good bit yesterday as well as looking after Eva. Plan is to keep going today and a trip into town to get a few things done.

    I'll update my list later...:D

Thanks for all the well done's for DD, she's so chuffed..
Sometimes it seems that the going is just too rough.
And things go wrong no matter what I do.
Now and then it seems that life is just too much.
But you've got the love I need to see me through.
