  • Monday - Bit of everything to kick start the week
    HHPaperwork/replying to emails/paying bills
    Tuesday - Master Bedroom
    Catch up on phone calls

Im about to start on my paperwork and emails (which is my absolute dread in life), that done, tomorrow i will catch up on my phonecalls.

    Extras done
    Kitchen blitzed
    Toilet done
    Bathroom Done
    DD hoovered everywhere
Steamed floors downstairs and my bedroom floor

Very pleased with myself today. Had a bit of a cupboard mishap. The cupboard in the sitting room has a load of rubbish in it, on my to do list for May (was on April list!!), well, lets just say theres been an avalanche - and theres carp all over the floor - so need to make that a priority.

Thats me done after that for the day, hope everyone is good. Happy flying.

Bother this weather, was just getting into sorting out next door's garden when the heavens opened.

Never mind, I'll do dinner, make a cake, do the athletics run, drop in some dinner for DS1, do the ironing, collect from athletics, get DS3 ready for bed and do the mending - never a dull moment is there.

Piggers - I hope youre feeling better today. Cant believe your DD and DS have only such a short time to go now, where has that time gone.

vanilla - WTG for you daughter, she has done really well. Hope something comes up for DH soon.

Mmm thought there was more to say than that ???!!!

Well DD is being a gortbag, just me and her here tonight. She lied about taking doogie out (again) and then when I shoved her out the door and told her to be 1/2 hour she was back in 7 minutes. Whats with her! Poor dog I'll have to take her out again later but trouble is I change out of my work stuff into my PJ's when I get in so will have to wait until its dark as I'm not changing again. Simple tea tonight although it wont be the Rainbow Trout I had planned as I forgot to get it out of the freezer :o.

Also tidied up the top of my chest of drawers that had become a dumping ground - only took about 15 mins which made me wonder why I'd avoided it so long...and put draught excluder tape on lounge window and DS's window, hopefully this will cut down the draughts but it's certainly seems quieter in lounge already:D
Spent ages at the gym this morning but seem to have counteracted this by making muffins (and scoffing two already):o

    Dear Ladies,
Have been reading this thread today and rather like your levelled lists for the cleaning/decluttering.
However, I wonder if anyone has some advice for a rather worn out mother with teenage kids.
I leave for work at 7.30am and return about 5.30pm. I cook a meal and ferry folks to where they should be going. I feed cats, wash clothes, iron said clothes, etc etc etc and generally run the household.
My problem is having a husband who leaves at 6.20am and returns around 8pm and two very untidy teenage boys. My DD is now at uni and she was a great help and I miss her terribly. This means I am trying to keep a house tidy in the face of grumpy kids who even after 14 and 16 years of nagging STILL leave everything everywhere no matter what I do. I have used every carrot and stick approach you can imagine, from money to chores, from star charts to groundings, from screaming and tears to strike action. None of it has worked. I still have to ask for clothes, dishes, shoes, bags, coats, books, to be picked up and to be honest I am quite simply tired of the asking.
Can anyone suggest how to even begin to get them to understand what this means to me? Is it just my kids or are their others out their too?
Iam keeping my bedroom and the kitchen and toilets just about clean but these days I have just about given up.
Any positive advice for me and how I can incorporate your wonderful lists into my day?
Please go easy on me. I think things have been harder the last two years as my husband has had two operations for cancer and my mind struggles to keep up at times. I have tried every trick in the book but am struggling under the weight of the houseowrk at the moment.
My job is demanding in hours and out so I feel wiped out alot of the time. I have a foreign exchange student turning up for 10 days next week so any quick fix ideas would be good too.
Thanks for any constructive housework advice.
    Kind regards
    Slowdown:)

Slowdown.. I have a couple of strategies.. 1.. you bring the wheelie bin into the house and everything! that is not put away goes in it.. don't say a word.. pick it up and put it in the bin.. 2.. you binbag everything and tell them if it is there come bin day it is going out.. and MEAN IT!! 3. Pick up offending item, open back door and wing item as far as possible down the garden.

Schoolbags, coats, shoes the lot *fling* if it is raining.. tough.. it gets wet!

I tell mine this is what is happening from now on until you stop being pigs.. and it works fast! but only if you stick to it. The first few days I hit mine with 'great, more bin food' every time they put stuff in the wrong place.

    Hello Slowdown,

I'm with pigpen on this one. If your family are not responding to your requests after all these years then they are not going to any time soon unless they actually see that something BAD will happen if they don't listen to you. They seem to think that the stuff will get picked up and put where it belongs anyway, by the nice person who always does it in the end - YOU!! It is vital that you stand firm, as piggers says, tell them x will happen if y isn't done and MEAN IT.

Grab stuff, put into binbags and chuck outside. Members of my family have gone to work or school with unlaundered clothes in the past and believe me they only do that once! Toys have gone in the wheelie bin. If you tread on CD/DVD cases they can break - that's what happens when they are left on the floor.

Good luck and do let us know how the new strong slowdown gets on.

    BBxx
