  • Weather has looked gorgeous through the office window. Employer has the radiators on and the air con on full blast so temperature depends on which room you are in!

Ammonite - my commute is a killer 55miles. Fingers crossed someone will offer me a job closer to home soon. I've been looking/applying since January!

    Just catching up..

    OH needs meat - check
one chicken kiev not enough - check
soup not a proper meal - check
    can't use lentils - check

My OH has to have pudding after every evening meal too.. so add on the cost of a piece of fruit and a yogurt every day. i've explained to him he can't be hungry, he's just had tea and his answer "i'm always hungry"
    Mortgage amount at 31/12/2011 £166,050 now £0 as at Sept 21 - 15yrs 4 months early.

  • I'm going to have to go and do a big-ish food shop as we've been running out of things left, right and centre this week and I feel like a bad wife :o Can manage out of the freezer for dinners for another week, maybe two, will have to wait and see.

My friend i were discussing last night how prep'ing meals, incl deciding what to eat, buying of food and cooking generally falls to the female's - even in the 21st century! :p
And even if DB says he'll 'sort' dinner, that generally consists of aksing me what we should have, IF we have all the required ingredients and then saying he can't find xyz in the freezer/cupboard when i've told him there is some there! :rotfl:

Hope you are enjoying the weather and your weekend ammonite!!

Janine - If I leave my OH to fend for himself at dinner time he either "makes himself a sandwich" or gets the ruddy kievs out! So it is always worth supervising his mealtimes lol :D He does do lots round the house and is very domesticated and to be fair the cooking/shopping is one of my main "jobs" and I like doing it (mainly to supervise and control budget!)

Shala_moo - Welcome to the carnivore wives club! Pudding club too by the sound of it in your house!

MRN - 55 miles - is that each way or return? Either way, how horrible for you :( Keep looking for a job, one will turn up!

Nothing to report here really. Starting the re-stock of the freezer so off to cook some chicken & mushroom casserole thingys which are slimming world friendly for when I re-join in the New Year. No more chicken pies for me :(

Meal planning has been really good this week & helped me to work out what needs eating. Done another plan for this week and we really are basically at the end of the freezer items (with exception of the re-stock which was always the plan).

No spare money here, may need to start paying for fuel with buttons. Payday still more than 2 weeks away but haven't touched our savings for the work on the house.....yet!

(Really unmotivated to write reviews, come on people please gee me up!!!)

Just signed up for MFiT.......of course just to boost savings. I've challenged myself to go from current 9% of the mortgage in savings to 35%. I know it sounds easy compared to how I've done this year, but unsure of finances in the next year so assume we are living off one wage and I heard babies are quite expensive?! :D Oh well, I love a good challenge me!

That's one way! It comes in handy for increasing the amount of mystery shopping assignments availible to me though!!!

I'm also back on the intellegent meal planning bandwagon too. It's easing the grocery spend for sure. The freezer is fully stocked so I'll be dining out of that most nights through late September and October. I need to run it down to defrost it too.

Good luck with your new focus of 35% of mortgage in savings - keep us updated!

OMG MRN that is ridiculous! Poor you! Mine is 15 each way and I complain about that.

Thanks for the luck well-wishing with the MFiT....35% seeems sooooo far away but then so is 3 years I guess :D

Good luck with the freezer....mine literally is on the bare bones now, I'm just trying to re-stock!
  • Well, not to rub salt into the wound :p but my commute is also quite a 'challenge' - I have to roll out of bed, into the spare room/office each morning and log on :o:rotfl:
