What ARE you wittering about? "Computers for schools" and other promotions are specifically designed for people to collect their vouchers and hand them to their schools.

What slight relevance is that supposed to have to this debate?

Were you unaware that these Computer for Schools vouchers (like all Tesco coupons) are sold on eBay to the highest bidder? Not by me, I have a deserving school to send them to...but people don't always just 'hand them to their schools' you know.

Still can't agree with you that wombling is fraud in the eyes of the law, although it is against cc t&cs obviously. I have never said they are my points, never said 'I forgot my card'...I just used to ask for points to be added sometimes. Just as schools ask for computer equipment with Vouchers that they (i.e. keen parents/teachers) may have bought on eBay.....

....btw, no-one ever did reply to the point made earlier about the 'lost fiver' on the floor. Do you really believe it's fraud to spend it?

I didn't read anything earlier about lost fivers. Of course it's not fraud to spend a lost fiver which you find, but morally you should report its find to the police (if it's outside) or the shop (if you find it in a shop) in case the owner goes back for it. And yes, I've done this before, in case anyone doubts me!

I wasn't aware that people were sad enough to sell "computers for schools" vouchers on eBay. I wouldn't do that and I don't think it's right either. But it's not illegal to do so as there's nothing to stop any school submitting such vouchers to Tesco however they obtained them.

I have been at a checkout before when the person in front has not had a clubcard and told the cashier to add them to my card. I've thanked them and had teh points added.

    Where's the fraud in that?

Theres no fraud in that, but its against Tesco Policy, only points earned by the card user are supposed to go on to that card.

A blind eye is possibly turned on odd occassions, but I know of people who have been asked about points added later at CS.

A lot of us (on the Tesco misprice discussion thread,RIP) belleved that points added at CS brought up a flag on that users account.

I have had hundreds of points deducted, as have other RandRers, but whether it was actually for "wombled" or Golden RandRs, we never found out.

Tesco Club Cards are dangerous things if you are doing something which isnt 100%.....................beware.

I hate self-scanners with a passion, however, used a few this weekend and I am surprised at the number of receipts left around with points on them but no clubcard being used. At least with these receipts, if you are wombling they are clean and dry

I'm hoping this isn't aimed at the information I've given...........

I doubt whether Tesco could ever prove it to be fraud, as they continue to add points at CS, but its against their policy, and could deduct points from accounts, and even confiscate previous points earned(as happenned to Taxiphil)....He eventually got most of them back, but Tescos(according to their TandC's) have the right to ban people from the CC scheme, and confiscate illegally earned points......and more.

If I got a job as a trolley returner, could I keep the wombled reciepts??!!
  • I was once PM'd on flea-bay by someone purporting to be a Tesco manager he had noticed I was bidding on some tesco vouchers and he said that I should stay well clear as he had caught staff in his store pocketing the tesco clubcard vouchers and selling them on when they did not belong to them.

Go on then. I'll bite :)
It's not fraud but theft. It's clearly something that somebody has lost rather than thrown away, unlike an old Tesco receipt. It's clear that some people have more sense of morality than others but being a crook does not necessarily make one a bad person - there may be a reason for it ;)
    Can I help?

Hello RD...hows it going, the thing about this fiver thing is, how do you know (ever) that the rightful owner is going to get it.......ok if you see someone drop it, but picking one up in the street or supermarket aisle, how could you ever be sure of finding the owner.....I dont think thats theft, surely not.....and is it worth the hassle of handing it in to the Police.
