Staff and customers at a store who saw someone collecting other peoples reciepts might think they are looking for credit card details etc and might take it further .It is one thing to explain to this board why you do it but quite another to have to talk to the police !

Not really, cos noone's full bank details are displayed on a receipt, and besides I'd just show the buzzies this thread! ;) They may all start collecting them themselves then, bobbies seem to like accruing CC points from what i remember;) :rotfl:

I found my first receipt today in my trolley and it was for £56 (cash) I added it to my account, my first womble. I asked at the cs desk "Could they add this to my card" I didn't say it was mine and they didn't ask.
Oh I also picked up a carrier bag and an old can and binned them.

Good point and I was at CS last year in a store when the security guard came over and said hes doing it again.... going through the bins for receipts.. CSA called the manager who along with Security Guard and 2 duty managers went outside...

They came back with a cc and said they were ringing CC to have them removed from the scheme.

I have no views on if this is right or wrong... each individual sets their own boundries... however if you play the scheme (to whatever extent).. wombling, handing over pts coupons when you know they will scan without buying the product (ie 400pts on kids clothes) or using codes not sent to you or having 25 babies a year and get caught you have no-one to blame but yourself...

sometimes if i have a coupon or offer for tescos or sainsburrys and i dont want to buy it, i pop it on the shelf next to the item, once i wanted a specific bottle of wine and someone else had done thi s right next to the bottle, and i used it , felt like a great idea to return the favour, feels rewarding. never use one with your clubcard number on though.
totally debt free:j and mortgage free too 2010

    "Wombling" is fraudulent.

Obtaining money, goods or services by deception?

I've said what I want to say on this thread. quote]

    Have you quite finished now?:D

The only point I would be interested in hearing your response to, would be whether you think the person who used the Petrol money-off slip they found was also 'defrauding' Tesco?

To me there is no difference, it's all OK if these bits of paper have been discarded, unless they are points coupons with a surname/individual details on which are a bit more dodgy for others to use (BTW they will work with any clubcard).
Posting on this thread is like picking at a scab - you know it's not a good idea, but it's so hard to resist. ;)

Yes, is the simple answer to your question.

rwgray I am not sure what you are asking - yes is the answer, again.

yes but picking one up you find in the car park, or, as I often do, finding one in a trolley (I scan the trolleys as Iam approaching the trolley park, and if I see a trolley with one in, I select that and take the receipt as I take all my bags out when I am far away!) is a world away from rifling through the bin!! I wouldn't do that, that IS asking for trouble. Not that I'd knock anyone for doing it, they take the risk if they wish. I just wouldn't want to risk my points!

As an adage, can I just reinforce the fact that, by accepting from customers, ( tons of whom use this forum) thousands if not millions of money off coupons for products which the customer HAS NOT PURCHASED tesco are by far the most fraudulent people in all of this and as such should not pass judgement on people who add a few points to their receipt which tesco themselves have allowed for by giving them.
