Well the dogs knocked a couple of function keys off which is just annoying but not important. The keyboard has been [STRIKE]abused[/STRIKE] used so much that the left mouse button is broken, even the lightest touch results in a click or even a double click. This is the worst problem because the children use it for work as we home educate. I could use an external mouse but it defeats the point of it being a laptop and I like using it on the sofa. It also needs a rebuild as it's running really slow which given it's current age and state I'm not sure it's worth it.

Definitely worth it as a second machine. What's the model number?

Save your breath I wouldn't waste your time all the OP has done is rant on defending his "deal" ok it's under £200 but that's all it has going for it. It's a cheap PoS and that's the end of it!

Just !!!!!! nonsense. Me ranting? That's irony for you.

Why aren't you happy for the people to decide for themselves as to what is suitable for them?

What experience have you had with this particular configuration?

Can you tell us about the Celerons of which you have experience? Which model numbers and in which combination?

Anything comparable to the B800? We would like to benefit from your extensive experience.

So, tell us 'in real terms' of the limitations of running the Dual Core B800 in conjunction with 3GB DDR3 RAM.

What limitations will be thrust upon the users? Tell them what they can expect.

I maintain that they will be able to carry out everyday tasks, such as playing music, films, using Office programs and general surfing.

You still have not pointed out a viable alternative at the price point, despite your banging on about 'deals available'.

It seems that you are working yourself up into a frenzy over nothing.

I've posted as to what I think is the best deal under £200 around. I stand by my post.

Allow us to see some facts and figures from yourself, instead of your mindless ranting.

Not getting into arguments as I use Benchmark Site which shows there are slow Celerons and faster Celerons (such as the B800 at a respectable 221st). Happy for Rich44 to comment again...

I quoted the CPU Benchmark of 1361 from the CPU Benchmark website in the very first post. There is no doubt that is a respectable score. Again your link shows that it is an inherently capable processor. With it's Dual Cores running in a Dual Channel configuration as suggested(with the extra RAM module fitted), I foresee no problems in everyday use.

It's amazing that someone who claims to have extensive IT experience(Rich44), appears to have no Technical argument whatsoever.
Just a mindless rant with a dearth of facts and figures. An IT Monkey indeed.

I think if you read the article it states that items bought and then returned after buyer's remorse are classed as refurbs which is what OP said.

I did read the article but what was more interesting to read were the consumer comments below the article and the vast majority said they thought refurbs were crap.

Your post is nothing but a barefaced lie.

After reading your post, I decided to peruse the comments. The general consensus is the opposite of what you claim.

Most people who have actually purchased something give positive reviews.

I read mostly positive reviews and noted a few negative, one concerning X-Box, the other PS-3, another concerning PC World and someone claiming his refurb lasting a year and a day(like we haven't heard that about new products).

So that puts the lie to your previous post.

Most people on this forum who have bought a laptop from Argos Outlet claim that it arrived 'as new'.
Do a search of the forum, instead of posting rubbish.

Once again instead of debating the matter you resort to abuse.
You really must allow others to posts their opinions and even if you don`t like what they say, you mustn`t start insulting people.
Looking at this thread, it seems that anyone who disagrees with you receives your abuse.
You must try to control yourself more when posting and stay on topic.
I know for a fact that some of your abusive posts have been removed by the mods.

The link YOU posted is this:
    http://uk.finance.yahoo.com/news/refurbished-goods--the-right-option-for-cheaper-electronics-.html

Scroll to the comments (there are 70 altogether) at the bottom and read them, the majority people think refurbs are crap.

I was replying to Shirlgirl2004 anyway, but you had to stick your abuse in.
Now edit your post and remove the abuse.

I read the comments and your post is simply inaccurate and untrue.

I am not interested in generalised and uninformed comments, like those from yourself.
I would like to hear from people who have actually purchased from Argos Outlet and the like. The retailers that give a full twelve month warranty.

Please feel free to repost the comments that fit the criteria of someone who has actually purchased from such a retailer, other than the ludicrous generalisations from posts such as yours.

I had certainly not advocated buying a refurbished machine from just anyone.
    My recommendation is specific.

I maintain that the deal that I have recommended is excellent value.

Decent spec for the average user and good battery life for under £200.

Talk of buying a second generation i3 at a minimum is just sheer stupidity.

PS. I am not aware of my posts being deleted or edited other than by myself. Perhaps you can point to the space where you claim that my post has been deleted?
You state 'that you 'know it for a fact', so perhaps you can point out where in the thread that this occurred.

Your Trolling on this thread serves no useful purpose, as it does not pertain to the deal posted.

If you have experience of this machine or this retailer, then please post freely.

But so far, you behaviour appears remarkably Troll-like.

    .
We bought a samsung camera from the ebay outlet, nearing the 12 month the usb went faulty and wouldn't recognise the lead all the time. So we sent it back and it was fixed, but it as since developed a battery fault and it is over the 12 month limit now and they are having it back, sent me a pre paid printable slip, and couldn't have been more helpful.

It seems my post about YOUR abuse has yet again failed to sink in.
If people don`t agree with you, just accept it but don`t use abuse because you`re making yourself look "unstable".
The mods have already removed some of your wild abusive posts and the way you`re going on others will have to be as well.

A normal person would post and just accept the responses, but you seem hell bent on hysterically defending, what is after all, a refurbished, second-hand, inferior laptop.

The most amusing thing about all this is, you avoided using the word refurbished in your post and thread title, but now you vigorously defend refurbished products almost to the extent of saying they are better than brand new.

    Dry your eyes.
