    It seems *snip*

In Internet slang, a troll is someone who posts inflammatory,[2] extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community, such as an online discussion forum, chat room, or blog, with the primary intent of provoking readers into an emotional response[3] or of otherwise disrupting normal on-topic discussion.

So, moving on, let's see how the actual purchasers get on with their laptops.

They can tell us about the condition and function, rather than having to read your tripe.
    What say you to that?

Or would you prefer to post inflammatory,[2] extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community, such as an online discussion forum, chat room, or blog, with the primary intent of provoking readers into an emotional response[3] or of otherwise disrupting normal on-topic discussion?

If you have some knowledge of these laptops and/or retailer, please post. Otherwise....how can we help you?

I'm writing this overlooking the beach thousands of miles away from you. I can assure you that I'm shedding no tears over this.
But if I've helped some to obtain a decent laptop at a good price, that will add to the general good cheer.

Perhaps you can let us know why you keep posting? I have linked to an article that covers all of the definitions of 'Refurbished', so no one can be in any doubt as to what they are buying?
So why are you still here?
    Trolling?
I created the thread, so I know why I am here.

Thank you too. Don't neglect the RAM, as the machine simply will not perform the way it should without it.

Other than 3D design work that may need a separate graphics card, it should be perfect for Uni with it's decent battery life.

I don't really get the motivation of some of the people here.

It's supposed to be a helpful board. But some people seem intent on creating problems.

Perhaps a mental condition. Who knows?

I think its a good deal. I ended up buying a netbook (which I'm delighted with), instead of a laptop, as a 2nd pc (I have a desktop already), as didn't want to pay more than £200. I know a few people running Win 7, using celeron processors, whose system runs fast.
New forum. New sig. Yes I still need to lose 2 stone!

It's a bit sad, as I'm convinced it's a good buy and put the info together to make it as simple as possible for non-Techies.

Perhaps I should collate the main info, including the manual and any relevant fitting instructions into a new post.

Wasnt having a go at the post - it's the personal comments that keep flying backwards and forwards between certain posters.....I'm looking to buy a cheap laptop for my "old" 72yr old mum and it's difficult to sift through the constant bickering on this thread. I just want the facts.

This Toshiba may do for your dear old mum.
My only concern in my very first post was that it should have been made clear that this is a refurb.
The OP became very defensive maligning anyone who said something he didn`t like.

I know when an elderly relative of mine wanted to "try out the internet" that it would have been a waste of money to get her anything expensive until "she`d had a go" at computing.
In the end I got her a cheap second-hand desktop and when she`d mastered surfing and emailing she bought a new Dell.

The only other thing I can suggest you look at is the Dell Outlet, again these are refurbs.
