How much would a laptop with that spec (with the 3gb ram) cost?
Brand new Dells from £299.
Cheaper through cashback sites.

Amazing after practically denying they were refurbished and saying they were "shop returns", although that term cannot be used, you post a link about refurbished goods.
If you`re in a hole stop

I think if you read the article it states that items bought and then returned after buyer's remorse are classed as refurbs which is what OP said.
I have a nearly 4 year old Toshiba bought as a refurb which is now needing replacing but it has been heavily used by myself and 2 young children so I'm happy to buy another Toshiba, beats Dell any day in my experience.0 -

Can it be rescued inexpensively or is it too far gone?0 -

Well the dogs knocked a couple of function keys off which is just annoying but not important. The keyboard has been [STRIKE]abused[/STRIKE] used so much that the left mouse button is broken, even the lightest touch results in a click or even a double click. This is the worst problem because the children use it for work as we home educate. I could use an external mouse but it defeats the point of it being a laptop and I like using it on the sofa. It also needs a rebuild as it's running really slow which given it's current age and state I'm not sure it's worth it.0 -

Save your breath I wouldn't waste your time all the OP has done is rant on defending his "deal" ok it's under £200 but that's all it has going for it. It's a cheap PoS and that's the end of it!0 -

This is just rubbish. Have three dual core Celeron Toshiba laptops running Vista and Windows 7, with 2GB RAM.
Honestly, the 'opinions' that we have here that are based on nothing at all.
Perhaps you can tell us about your experience with dual core Celerons.0
