Bissell carpet shampooer

Anyone got one of these shampoo machines or used one ?- I have an ancient vax which takes forever to set up and empty etc and wanted to try one of the newer ones but cannot find anyone who has used them - they look good and can be bought from the bissell site reconditioned fairly cheaply.
Saving in my terramundi pot £2, £1 and 50p just for me! :j

I have a little bissell one thats really good, but you obviously have to keep filling up with hot water and then emptying the dirty water - but ive only got one room carpeted anyway. I quite fancy the bigger one (black) and they have that on offer in tescos at the moment for arount £159 - or they usually have them at Makros.

We dont always use the bissell shampoo either, my DH buys some industrial shampooer & Spotter from one of the local builders merchants!

    Hope that helps x

As for shampoo, you can just using washing up liquid or mulit purpous cleaner in them.

I borrowed my Mums new Bissell- it was an expensive one- About £200 from Argos. We used it on our cream carpet and it came up fab. Admittedly it didn't shift every mark but we only did a quick run while the kids were in bed. It (the carpet) didn't take too long to dry either.

As with the other posters, we stopped using the bissell shampoo and used industrial shampoo instead. (My BIL mixes up these chemicals and cleaners and he reckons they have exactly the same ingredients for a fraction of the price.)

We have a Vax Rapide which I think is awful. It seems to clean the carpet then stains come through after a few days. We are changing to wood floors later this year, thank goodness.

I borrowed a friends one last week. She bought a proheat and has used once and hated it! I tried it and it freshned the carpet up but did not shift the recent muddy footprints!!! I usually hire a carpet vac from morrisons and they are AMAZING! Plan on gertting one next week. Its £20 for 4 hrs. Works out cheaper than buying your own if you only plan on cleaning a few times a year!

I have a Bissell Power Wash Upright Deep Cleaner. I am very impressed with it. Believe me, I don't like anything that is faffy. This is easy to use. The proper cleaning solution is expensive but you can get the stuff made by 'Astonish' at only 99p a bottle. I have a dog who is always coming in across the carpet with muddy feet. It really brings it up well.
    Keep on trucking!

Yes, mine is very easy to use, and it cost about £80 - but we have well got our moneys worth out of it!!! the amount of times we have to shampoo the carpet!

I have a Bissel Proheat and am really pleased with it. So far I have not tried it on the upholstery but my muddy carpets which had not been cleaned for two years came up beautifully. Also loaned it to a friend who had heavily soiled carpets which came up well.
It was certainly just as good as the hire machines we have tried in the past but much less hard work to use. I did use it very slowly though to give it time to clean well and used the Bissel cleaning fluids, there is one much cheaper type which did as good a job as the more expensive (pet odour remover one) I later bought for another room. I also went over the carpet a few times with just water to rinse it really well. These were wool roomsize rugs so I can't comment as yet if they work well on the synthetic fibres.
For me it was worth the investment but I live rurally on the edge of a sea of mud with dogs and children! If I lived in less muddy surroundings though and only needed to do a quick whizz through once a year then I would stick to hiring. We do take our shoes off but dogs don't and the other clothing is often muddy too.
