Why not rent a rug-doctor from Homebase? Much cheaper than buying!
Treat others as you would like to be treated :A

We bought a Vax cleaner when the children were tiny because I am completely useless at coping with vomit etc.:o and at least then it is all at arm's length, lol! It has been a complete boon over the years - last used on Christmas Day when 13-yr old overdosed on choccies (he swears it was the satsuma in his stocking....) and only made it to the hall_pale_ No hire shops open on Christmas Day, methinks! More than paid for itself over the years ( do you have teenagers? - they should come equipped with carpet cleaners, imo).

I've had a Morphy Richards Grime buster steam cleaner for a few years now & have been more than happy with it.I'd definitely not like to be without it. I find it invaluable for sprucing up the light colour carpets in my home & it makes light work of cleaning the bathroom wall & floor tiles. It's like a polti but costs a lot less. You can also get various attachments such as steam generator iron & wallpaper stripper.

I bought mine online & remember I paid about half the price Argos was selling them for.
The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.

I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.
  • Do all Homease rent the rug-doctor? I have tried looking at the website and can't find anything. Would I need to go instore and ask?

I have a rug which is absolutely filthy and needs cleaning due to the 3 year old and also the 26 year old wife!! She did initially chose the beautiful cream colour...

I got a bissell powerwash proheat. I got mine 2nd hand out the local paper and it had been used just once by a frail old lady, who unfortunately found it too cumbersome for her strength. It has been excellent. I think they retail for about 140 pound now it was originally from argos they provided their receipt and guarantee and even kindly delivered it for me. I truly got a bargain - I remember it was approx just a third of the retail price I paid for it. I use a detergent product called 'release' from a hoover shop its economical in a big container with a handle and its really great results - in a multi-cat household its really brilliant. The carpet cleaner it has rotating bristles which catch up all of the hairs - one's own and one's pets! (you'd be suprised at the amount of muck which comes up, especially when folk traipse into your home with mucky shoes on your carpet.) The machine sprays out the water and detergent into the carpet then it sucks it all up again with the dirt and you just pour it away and repeat if necessary....You just pour the mucky water out and refill with clean water ,when required and, there is a separate detergent dispenser. There is also a small rotating bristles attachment - great for upholstery. I really like mine, though my older version proved a tad problematic, then I realised it could have been a) clogged up with hairs, b) choked up with limescale. sometimes it was necessary to poke a pin into the jets to move the limescale, I'm pleased to say there has been no such problem with the newer model, which is better designed. I consequently left my old model at the repairers. this new one gets a lot of use and I'm pleased to say I haven't had any problems, just clean lovely carpets. I think they are worth it. And this time I clean the hairs from it, you have to turn it upside down and remove them., ready for next time. Theres usually enough to make a small toupe...
