Welcome home
It sounds like (reads like) you had a thrifty, well budgeted for break!!
Hope you had a lovely time, and great to hear you got to spend time with your DH
You've been busy since you got back, with the painting. Nice shiny new bathroom :beer:0 -
Morning! Yes it was pretty thrifty
:money: I mainly stuck to budget for the days up london (think i went over by only around £5 :j) And it was the last day with the BBQ i went over budget
oops! Oh well, i hardly ever see my two sisters & mum in one place at the same time so was worth it :T
Today I woke up and decided to do a 24 hour fast. I've been meaning to do one for months nowand i think i was put off by the fact the one i have read about was a 3 day one. So i decided today was a good day to do it, i have no food in the fridge really, i've hardly any food in the sweet cupboard and so no real temptations! I have orange & apple juices, and i know fruit juices aren't the best for fasting with (organic veg i think is the best way) but i decided i'm only doing one day to see how i get on. And if it's easy enough i may brave the 3 day one before the month is out :rotfl: So it's 9:02 and i've had a detox tea, a glass of orange juice & my vitamins (for crazy hormones). I will check in after lunch and let you know how i got on (fail or win :rotfl:)
Dh & I had a coversation last night about mum's house. She's got hardly any money, works a menial job for little pay & can't up her hours or she loses the tiny bit of council tax benefit & housing benefit she does get (and then the wages don't cover it all- we know this because this is how she struggled on for years without telling anyone and got herself into debt paying rent, so i naughtily worked out the system and made her reduce her hours- which has helped with her bad back too) and now since being in her new house she can't afford to replace things that are breaking or even buy things that she needs. So dh & I are using the emergency fund (and praying we now don't have an emergency) to get her an aerial for her t.v and pay for her cooker to be fitted. She's in a bad signal area and her freeview hasn't worked since moving in 3 months ago. Now whilst not a necessity nor an emergency i don't feel like she will ever be able to afford to get it done (£125 for an aerial to be fitted :eek:) and when i visit i miss my t.v :rotfl::rotfl:
Anyway back to today, it may be a nsd as i try to avoid the shops so that i don't fail my fasting:rotfl:

What a lovely thing to do for your Mum!!
Good luck with the fasting, I'm very impressed! I love my food far too much to go without! That said though, I've pilled the weight on recently so a fast may well be a good way to stop the constant comfort eating I've been doing and start afresh.
As a side note though, will you be able to sell the top up voucher on Facebook or eBay etc? Even if you get half the money back it's better than nothing!Debts @ LBM £23,729.31. Debts @ 08/04/2016 £0 :j

Wow what a marathon of a break, sounds like youve had a lively but lovely break with your family and hubby x
It's infuriating when you see your loved ones plodding along without the luxuries that many so take for granted and have far more by not working ! That's a lovely thing to be able to do all thanks to your pots
Good luck with your fast, I think 1 day fasts are def beneficial (iv tried every diet , twice lol ) but any longer in school hols are cr:mad:azy all I wanted to do was sleep on the third day lol
How is the reiki going ?SW loss 7st 4lb

Glad to see you had a nice time in london and with all your family
Good luck with the fast today
Its a nice thing your doing for your mum, i couldnt live without my freesat, neither could the kids lol. If she has a satelitte dish, you can get a freesat box for about £40 in argos and plug it into that. this is what i did as the aerial man said it would be cheaper than £100 for an aerial which may not even help with my freeview servicePAD Maker0 -

plmbl- I'm doing the fast as i've also been eating like a pigand can't stop!! I thought it may break the cycle although i think a longer one will be better (but as i said i'm too much of a wimp to jump right in :rotfl:)

How is the reiki going ?
You should see my sister's househer washing machine& fridge freezer are ancient (like 1980's :rotfl::o) and barely working. And yet she can afford sky & an iphone contract & to smoke. so although i would love to help her i kind of think she should be helping herself??? (feel cruel for saying that now
) and yet my mum pays all her bills and every month goes without and has only £30-40 a month for food
I think i may have to try and squeeze the budget more permanently and give her something each month for food.
Reiki fell by the wayside, i had a few bad weeks where my hormones were playing havoc so i kinda got all down ...yesterday i called my reiki master, she's kind of like my second mum round here lol. And we had a chat and i promised to fit it into my routine EVERY day as i always feel better in myself after meditating or at least 10 mins of reikii did it last night and this morning and already don't feel like a black cloud is over me:T

I know how frustrating it can be to see other family members struggling whilst others put themselves in a 'struggling' position ie brand new phones, new TVs etc etc. Its a lovely thing to do.
Well done for keeping the spending just about under control on your trip.
