I can't find any mention of USB on it.
It doesn't do USB. Does this help?
Turns out Nero does allow image burning without finalizing. It's been so long since I used it I'd forgotten all about it.0 -
Running Zorin on an old Dell Latitude business laptop, looks a lot like windows and has cool dissolving screens (i know i should know better at my age).0

If you want newer software with the ability to burn MultiSession(it is what you want to do) discs, use CDBurnerXP
Sadly, the distro can't seem to detect my 3 Broadband HSPA dongle. I took a screenshot grab of all the connection windows but was unable to save the file onto the USB stick, so can't reproduce it here.-TangleFoot- wrote: »It doesn't do USB. Does this help?

I didn't realize at the time that multisession meant 'not final', so I'll remove Puppy and try again. Hopefully a more recent version will recognize an HSPA+ dongle, my most modern piece of hardware0 -

Yes we have, haven't we
Read the thread?? I'm trying to avoid doing that.
Ubuntu will recognise your Dongle. Just use the Try Ubuntu option.:)0 -
That dialogue box certainly didn't appear for me, but I concede I should have unchecked the 'finalize' option.Ubuntu will recognise your Dongle. Just use the Try Ubuntu option.:)
Jakeandme's Zorin actually looks highly suitable for Linux newbies, so if I'm going to try a big distro I think I'll go for that. It looks a bit bloated with extra programs (1.1GB download), but at least that would save me time installing them.0 -

Zorin is quite similar to Lubuntu 'under the bonnet', and not too dissimilar to Xubuntu etc.
Don't know where you get 1.1GB from? You should be looking at Zorin Lite 6.0 (695MB) for older machines.
Just to muddy the waters, it is/was my thread after all, try SliTaz, you can install it to usb from within Windows using it's own .exe installer. Takes 5mins at most, 2 of those looking for a spare flash drive.

Edit: forgot you probably can't boot from usb, but others wanting to try a Linux distro can have a bash.Move along, nothing to see.0 -
