Did you send your email within 14 days of receiving their terms & conditions (i.e. applying for their service)?

Maybe if people are broke they should look at cutting the spending. Just a theory.

My son having awful problem. He gave details thinking that they had offered him a loan. Went to bank today and 8 different companies have taken out £550.95 over a few days. Bank say he agreed to this 'broker' giving his details. So why are they charging him money - what for? There is no product or service from the other 7 so this is theft even if we allow that My Loan provided an internet service. You should also be able to identify what you are paying for??

Be warned do not deal with these companies. Myloan, (who appear to be the gateway) myloanplus, moneywarehouse, mymoneyhelper, loan direct, money gaga, smilefinance, loan options,

Reported to the Police for fraud. Bank cannot stop direct debits unless they see you in person with ID and freeze your account. Well now my son has no money left and no access to his account so how does he deal with any money coming in and living? You cannot open a new bank account because the allowance is only one per person. The bank is going to open an investigation under a scheme called 'chargeback'.

'My loan' has offered money back but still waiting. They took two lots of £69.95 within two days using myloanplus for the second payment. Loan direct also took £69.75 twice within a couple of days. No response from the other 7 companies yet???? What is this money for. Anyone can see this is a complete fraud scam. Who in their right mind would agree to such a thing. By the way no paperwork nothing but you can get your money back under law - 7 day cooling off period if you act fast. Update - told 14 days.

Hope this is informative and helps others. By the way people make mistakes especially when you have teams of companies running complicated scams like this. Some people live on the bread line. Where do you make savings when you have very little to live on and businesses are putting up costs for everything.

Did your son give credit or debit card details, or were the amounts taken out by direct debit?

Whichever, he needs to 'instruct' his bank to do a charge back for all the payments taken. He mustn't ask them, he must tell them. It is his money and his bank account, and they should do as he instructs them.

If the local branch do not do as instructed, he needs to contact the banks head office. And get a crime number from the police, as this should be classed as fraud.

    I've got 4. Who told him/you this?
  • Thanks for your reply. He used his debit card and he knows how foolish he has been. It was his phone call to the bank that alerted me to a problem, he was arguing with them for a long long time and asking them to stop any further direct debits from loan companies. Barclays argumentative and son kept repeating himself. Barclays eventually agreed to chargeback on all but 'my loan' after completion of an investigation. Now has to await paperwork. Got a crime number. All this even more heinous given it exploits the desperate; he needed a loan and ended up loosing £550 which was loaned by a family member. Still finding ways to report and looking for back up ideas. Just sent him off with seven new registered letters. Not letting go of this one want to help prevent others getting into this mess.
  • Thanks for the information about number of bank accounts. Don't know how I got hold of the idea of one only. This is very useful feedback.
  • Glad to hear it's getting sorted. I had the same happen to my son after he thought he was just getting quotes whilst he was serving in Afghanistan, playing on his computer, and I had to do all the donkey work.

He now knows he deserves that well known phrase "Stupid Boy!"
