in Credit cards
Hi,
I'm trying to consolidate some debts onto an interest free credit card.
However, one of the cards i have is a store card with Argos and they say that i cant pay the balance off with them by paying on a credit card.
Is this common practice? Are they allowed to to refuse this method of payment?
Is there anything i can do here?
thanks
Dan

I am not aware of any credit card where you can make a payment on it with another credit card.
You should try doing a balance transfer.Total Debt Feb 2012 [STRIKE]£12,153[/STRIKE] 10674 16.5% Paid
Halifax Credit Card £4448.6. Loan 1 £3000. Loan 2 £2696.13.

Are they allowed to refuse? Well, I doubt you could force them to accept your payment.0

I don't think any credit card can be paid of by using another credit card so sounds normal to me.
Only via Balance transfer.0 -
What is your card 0% for? Balance transfers or purchases?
Depending on the amounts involved:
if it's balances, just call the new card provider and give them the old card number.
if it's purchases, just do all your shopping on the new card for a month or two, until there's enough saved in your current account to pay off the old card.0 -
Looks like it's got something to do with the card numbers:

Creation credit cards can by paid using credit cards and are treated as normal purchases. I spend on Marriott world card and always pay it off using capital one cashback world mastercard.0

I know of another card which allows me to pay with a credit card. So my balance each month is paid with my MBNA card and gives me cashback plus another x days interest free0

No-one can be forced to accept a credit card as a payment for a debt.
The credit card system charges companies that accept payment a 1-4% fee.
No credit card can be forced to offer a balance transfer service.
They only solution is either a card which offers credit card cheques (quite rare these days) or money transfers (all mbna-backed cards and possibly some others) and use the money to pay off the card.We need the earth for food, water, and shelter.

To my knowledge Argos have never accepted credit cards as form of payment. I've had an argos card for over 10 yrs.
Have funny feeling they do accept them if you go in arrears??? Am sure that what I was told once via the phone but dont hold me to it, as it would've been a while ago as I deal with argos online these days.0
