No, you'll ask Natwest who will confirm the wrong data is correct and you'll go back to the OP saying your hands are tied.

This is a prime example of why you lot are completely useless.

OP, taffy056 and swanfan02 have given the correct advise for you in this situation.

If we can investigate and identify the data is someone else we can remove it without reference to the lender. Definitely worthwhile raising written disputes with the CRAs.

And what happens when Natwest say the info is correct when it isn't? It happens!

OP, always best to go to the source of the incorrect information and get it updated at source. That way you won't be running around chasing various people to get them to do things for you.

Don't trust a CRA to do anything for you. As the old saying goes... "If you want a job doing correctly, do it yourself".
• Well I have written to all now, the person high up at Natwest, Watchdog, ICO, Experian and Equifax, so I have covered all basis, the ICO was very helpful, they asked to be copied into all communication and said the can make them remove the Default as it is not in my name if need be, and take appropiate action against them so now I am a little more relaxed, although still frustrated

To be clear, a disassociation is an amendment we make to our searching algorithms. It doesn't alter the data - so we don't need to contact the lender - it simply alters when the data is returned on a search. We can, however, only do this where we can differentiate between the two people concerned. If we can't, that's when we need to raise the matter with the lender/s involved.

You can email us at consumer.helpservice@uk.experian.com or use our online query form.

Thanks

• Okay,

I wanted to update this thread. In fairness to the person at Natwest in the Exec office, he came back to me that afternoon, and explained now they had been made aware they would urgently request the removal of the Default from the CRA's.

This was followed up by me contacting Equifax to say this had happened, I spoke with a manager there she was helpful and said she would get her dispute team to contact Natwest and verify this, she called back within a hour and said she has generated a new report, and it was not there. Thank you Equifax excellent job.

Experian now where near as smooth, explained to them we have the email back from Natwest confirming it was a error and they have urgently requested the removal, they check and say they have had no communication from Natwest, I ask to speak to a manager and told a 24 hour call back will be arranged! I was not happy so called back the ICO.

There response was, as I had proof Natwest has requested urgent removal Experian must remove it as it is affecting my ability to get a mortgage, and under section 13 of the data protection act if they do not they are liable to pay damages for costs of this all going wrong and for distress caused.

So with this newly found information I call back Experian again, and to no avail, I explain all the above and the person speaks to there manager and says we can dispute it but it may take up to 28 days!! I explained I wanted to talk to the manager as the ICO said I should and they said again a call back in 24 hours, this is procedure.

They did not take anything seriously in what I did, so now I will keep this thread updated as I am going to sue them for damages.

Yep go direct to the source, well done ! James Jones @ Experian care to explain yourself here, Equifax has done the right thing, why are you (Experian) making life difficult for this person? This is not an isolated case, I have had problems with your company as well!
Excel Parking, MET Parking, Combined Parking Solutions, VP Parking Solutions, ANPR PC Ltd, & Roxburghe Debt Collectors. What do they all have in common?
They are all or have been suspended from accessing the DVLA database for gross misconduct!
Do you really need to ask what kind of people run parking companies?
• I am sure there will be no reply here, because first Experian said foward the email then, and by there tone implying I never had one, and then when I did foward the email, with the contact details of the person in Natwest to verify this, it was then that is no good as it never came directly from Natwest and they are not prepared to call them to verify it.

It felt like they were all having a good laugh at me losing my rag over this. I'm so upset over this.
• And now the cherry on top of the cake, is Natwest have sent proof that Experian have recieved the request and Experian are still denying the fact!
