Complex Equifax and Experian Issue

Hello,
This is my first post here, if it is a repeated or regular question please let me say sorry in advance, I am not too computer literate with search facilites.
My partner has a issue, she was recently declined for credit so we seeked out why, we have recieved a copy of her Equifax credit report to show a Deafult on there issued by Natwest bank.
Now this is a bit odd as late last year she was going to transfer her bank account to them and applied for a account, and they opened it all online provided account number immediatley etc, only for a week later to get a letter from Natwest saying after further review they can no longer offer they account.
She has never had a Natwest account in the past. Now her name is x, but on her credit report it is showing a default for y for -£4000 for Oct 2010. Same date of birth. When she applied for this account and was rejected we got her credit report then and it was not on there then. we recieved other debt letters for a y too but always called to say they had the wrong person and never heard more. So it appears someone with a similar name and same date of birth has debts, but why is my partner getting caught up for them?
We have contacted Equifax to dispute this, but they say Natwest decide if they will remove this, what if they say no? Then my partners credit will be ruined? and like existing credit accounts, I know they all check monthly now with CRA's when they do there update, what happens if her bank take away her overdraft now or take her credit limit on credit cards etc?
I have obtained my Experian report too which I am a member of, and it was added only 4 days ago! The default date was the 31/10/2010 again in the name of y not my name x
Thanks

And also they linked a address I have just seen that I have also never lived at.0

You need to contact Natwest and demand removal of this in writing. If it's not yours they should remove it, if they don't complain to the ICO--> http://www.ico.gov.uk/complaints/data_protection.aspx0

You really need to contact natwest about this, don't think the CRAs can do anything to be honest, obviously as its not your debt it must removed, contact them in writing send recorded and head it as a complaint.Excel Parking, MET Parking, Combined Parking Solutions, VP Parking Solutions, ANPR PC Ltd, & Roxburghe Debt Collectors. What do they all have in common?
They are all or have been suspended from accessing the DVLA database for gross misconduct!
Do you really need to ask what kind of people run parking companies?0 -
The thing is I went in to Natwest yesterday, they said if its not yours they cannot discuss it with me! and I should contact the CRA's as they can do nothing.
Will this affect my current credit agreements with limits being chopped etc? and we were just about to move home now we wont be able to and I am sure this will be a very dragged out issue0 -
The bank branch staff are not right! You need to write to them and demand that they remove this incorrect entry on your files, think this is the address for them.

Write to or email both CRAs and make it clear that the debt and linked address are not yours. If possible we will create a disassociation to remove the data from future reports produced in your name. If not - due to the similarities between your details - we will clearly mark the information as disputed while we take the matter up with the lender/s involved on your behalf.

No, you'll ask Natwest who will confirm the wrong data is correct and you'll go back to the OP saying your hands are tied.
This is a prime example of why you lot are completely useless.
OP, taffy056 and swanfan02 have given the correct advise for you in this situation.0 -
Yes I called the CEO's assistant today and spoke with a Michael Gergor who is looking in to this, I have emailed him a full copy of my credit file.
Wether that produces any joy though I do not know0 -
Keep on at them until they rectify the situation. Make a nuisance of yourself.
It's disgusting that wrong information is allowed to be reported like that. It is OBVIOUS it's two completely different names, yet the CRA's allow this to go on because it makes them more money when people are forced to pay to access their OWN information.0 -
Yes I totally agree, and when I spoke with Equifax and Experian, they both said they will ask the creditor if its correct or not, thats it?! Again it is a different name, it shoud not even be allowed to be on the same report, and Banks etc should face hefty fines when the report the incorrect data0
