    [QUOTE=bensonsmum;

Due to trying to do the funeral on a shoestring, i did the families floral tributes myself and managed to save over £250 - some people might have said i was tight, but i took great delight in doing them for him and im sure he would have been proud of me and my MSE ways.

Still trying to catch up but want to send hugs to Bensonsmum and Tinyshoes.

Bensonsmum - such lovely flowers, your post made me cry. Hope that you and OH are okay.

Tinyshoes - hope that your mum is not in too much pain. So great that she has you to go to the doctors with her. I used to go with my mum and she always said how much it helped to have me there.
When I grow old, I dont want people thinking "what a sweet old lady" I want them to think
"oh carp what is she up to now!"

What's up with the bunker?! Are the decorators in?! :rotfl:

Bensonsmum - What beautiful floral tributes they were. We had the cost of an unexpected funeral not that long ago, I know where you're coming from. Hope you and your OH are coping OK and remember where we 'orrible lot are if you need us! (Love that your FIL wanted The Wurzels!! Proves that the man was sheer class!!)

bensonsmum- thinking of you- your post has sparked deep conversations in our household (I want a cardboard coffin that everyone can write messages on) Funerals are a strange event, all sorts of emotions, sending lots of love xx

We did discuss cardboard coffins but they were a lot more expensive than the normal ones as they have to be especially reinforced to take the weight of the body. You could write on a normal coffin if you had a marker pen- just an idea!! glad my post sparked some conversations, it has definitely done the same in my house also. pleased to say we are both fully insured as would hate to think of my OH struggling to raise the money to bury me. I would rather he could clear off into the sun and relax for a week or two with some good memories rather than cursing me for leaving him with a big bill to get rid of me xxx

Just about caught up and now it's time for bed.
    Just want to say though

Bensonsmum....Fab flowers. You should be very proud of yourself :T:T

Tinyshoes.....(((Hugs))) Thinking of you and your mum

Mymerrywidow....Can understand completely where you're coming from.
My hairdresser lost her finger when the door slammed .
As it was on her right hand and she wouldn' t have been able to cut hair, they removed a toe and created a finger with it!
You can't tell she's lost a toe. She still wears sandals and it's only if you actually count her toes you realise one's missing.

Wow, I thought cardboard would be the cheaper option, will keep a stock of marker pens- just in case.
seriously, having buried my MIL three years ago I know this is not an easy time for you, and my heart felt condolences are with you and your family xx
