mymerrywidow wrote: »i went into town to my podiatrist 14.30 appointment, arrived at 14.25 :Tonly for my phone to remind me the appointment is at the podiatrist (hosp):mad:. thankfully the roads were clear.:T only to have it confirmed that my toe cant be saved and it has to be chopped off, they sort of mentioned this last week, in a "maybe" manner. they said i wont be allowed to drive for 2-3 weeks, its my left foot ,so the time is shorter than a right foot.
so now i have to stock up on cravendale milk (it has a longer date) and bread flour.
the strange thing is my mum also had the same toe chopped off, and she had diabetics as well.
Sorry to hear that you are going to have to have your toe amputated hun but glad that it will at least bring you relief and that you will be able to lead a more normal life afterwardsSo do I, she does take an anti depressant too which the doctor said they could increase as well to help with nerve pain. I have to inrease the gabapentin dose over next couple of weeks and then she has a review appointment. The doctor does not want to increase the zomorph anymore and it was a bit of a battle to get her to take that in the first place. I think it stems from her side of the family, who did not visit the doctors at all, actually until it was too late for anything to be done. So I think she equates certain drugs to only be taking towards the end if you know what I mean, which is sad.
As for mentioning it to her brother, not sure, she may not even remember that I had the conversation with her as her memory is starting to be unpredictable. And she is the sort of person who switches off when she doesn't want to hear something. Which in the case of the doctor she will have only heard "methadone" and shut off and not heard the fact that one patient is only needing to take a tablet every 3 days to control their pain or another who has been taking it for a year and coping well at home. So she will not be able to relay that to him only that she was offered it.
I, on the other hand, am the sort of person who asks lots of questions and wants to know the ins and outs of everything so good job I go along.
Sorry to hear that your Mum is having problems with pain relief, hope it can be sorted with new meds. I am like you, I need information, always asking questions when speaking to Alan's docs/nurses/etc. Thinking of you hun, as I think of what is to come with Alan ............ but not for a while yet I hope

Evening guys - aren't the days getting longer and longer - really noticing it now as I can leave it really late to take the dogs out
Damp day today, but not too bad
We popped down to the cb cafe for bacon sarnie, cuppa and read of the papers, then popped a couple of boxes into the units, to get them to friend on Friday morning, so they are out of our way now. Then we went into town to pick up Alan's new glasses and it was great to be able to park straight outside Specsavers with Blue Badge
Looked into the auction to see what else had been brought in for tomorrow's sale and may go down for the sale in the morning as a couple of things there we liked the look ofThen to Mr T's to use up a £10 off £80 coupon - it took some doing   and then my card was refused as I didn't have enough money in account. Popped outside to ATM to transfer money from other account but couldn't do that by ATM. Tried to do it through App on mobile but couldn't get a connection, so had to ask if they could hold shopping for half hour until we came home and grabbed Alan's card
However, as soon as we got out of town on main road, I got Alan to pull up as I had got a connection and I was able to immediately transfer the cash. So back to Tossco and I went in to pay for shopping, while Alan waited in the van as he was too embarrassed to show his face. He said he's not going in there with me again:rotfl: :rotfl:
Alan had to have a nap when we got back as he was really tired. He is aching around the area of the op but doc say that it would take months and months before he completely healed inside
I am off to bed now I have caught up on here so goodnight Elite - sleep wellMr 3Dogs 3-7-12

:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: Are you sneaking in drunk??!! Glad to hear you're back safe and sound, I don't think enough info has been provided though! (Mind you, I am a right nosey mare!!)
Gwrys yn Kernow! :j0 -
Then to Mr T's to use up a £10 off £80 coupon - it took some doing
I found it quite easy. 12 bottles of wine did the trick! Managed to use a £4 off 30 too that I found sat on a trolley at the top of the travelator!
Would you believe the blighters only went and overcharged me on all the wine though!! :eek:0 -
Evening Elite :hello:
Just caught up whilst sipping a huge mug of Cadbury hot choc topped with ice cream, squirty cream and marshmallows
Sending all my love and hugs to Tinyshoes and Bensonsmum, you are both :A:A and very strong, lovely ladies:T
Tinyshoes, I think blondynurse's (:A) post sums up how I feel perfectly. You are such a tower of strength and exactly what your Mum needs, it must be incredibly hard for you at times and please don't feel the need to appologise, I also really look forward to your posts so please keep them coming :A Also I don't want to shout about it to tempt fate but ... my rash is literally gone now!! :T THANK YOU!! :T
And bensonsmum, your FIL's funeral sounds absolutely perfect (minus the fight!!) His personality must have shone brightly from all the choices he made and it sounds like he was an extremely popular, lovely man with a turn out to represent that :A Your flowers are beautiful and I think it's not only money saving but a beautiful, personal gesture to go to the effort of producing them yourself, especially when they look so professional! :T Sorry you've been faced with the funeral costsSending big hugs to you and hoping that you and your OH are feeling a little more relaxed now he's at peace :A
Purdy:(:( Boooo! I hate trips like that when you've driven so far and had high hopes, then find ZILCH! Really hope that next time you fill 3 trollies!!!:rotfl:
3Dogs sounds like you had another lovely day but sorry to hear Alan's been in painPoor thing, hope he's feeling more comfortable come morning :A
CS - Glad to hear your date went fabulously minus armpit fat inducing Bridget Jones knicks :p:rotfl:(I hate the darn things too!)
Got a few things to mention with the price flop coupons. I have only explored the cakes and frozen coupons as yet. The cakes I couldn't improve on cosmic-dusts suggestion for bogof cake bars :T But for the frozen;
MAY OR MAY NOT COMPARE!
Weight watchers ready meals and twin packs of desserts;
Some are 3 for £3 in A's
http://groceries.asda.com/asda-estore/specialoffers/linksavecontainer.jsp?promoId=ls72485
Puds are £1.69 in T's, meals are £1.75 so any combination of 3 will take you over the £5 threshold. Minus price flop and inc JTD of between £2.07 - £2.25 = £2
T's Light Choices frozen meals 400g
£1.30 each or 4 for £4 - price flop = £3

Just wanted to say before I go off to bed you lot are :A:A:A:A:A, have been blubbing a bit reading all your lovely posts. Thank you. Even an offer of some siblings to borrow. :rotfl:
Revision evening was quite motivating, think for me more than DD3 though. Must get the bedrooms sorted sooner rather than later to give her space. Think it has helped me make my mind up about who will be sharing a room once DD1 is back home.
I did side track to Ts after I sorted mum, she looked quite comfortable this evening thank goodness. My finds this evening were a lone bottle of Denise McAdam Brunette Super Shine Shampoo 89p, smells gorgeous.
And saw baskets with RTC make up in, the best bargains were Rimmel Glam Eyes mascara £1.78, type of Collection 2000 mascara £1.24, Rimmel duo 70p quite a few left if any locals want to PM me for the store.
Calmspirit so pleased you had a lovely evening. :T
3dogs, good to hear Alan is still doing well.
Bensonsmum such a lovely post, hugs to you, we have missed you. x
I'm off to bed now so Good Night all.0 -
Well I fancied sommat different to eat tonight but was hungry and couldnt be bothered with anything complicated.
A quick mooch in the freezer revealed some ham bits, a couple of frost bitten frankfurters and a tub of frozen sainsbobs taste the difference carbonara which I got whoopsied for 10p the other night!
A plan was hatched............
While the pasta boiled, the sauce defrosted in the microwave and the ham and frankfurters stirred around a frying pan, then all into the pan for a few minutes to coat and make sure its all cooked through.
Was quite nice actually. what did shock me though was some of the stuff I found in the freezer that I didn't know was in there!!! Remeber the bacon packs glitching in sainsbobs months and months back.....yeah theres a 'few' of those in there! Lamb racks, brisket joints.....lord knows what else! Might have a better investigation tomorrow.0 -
Tinyshoes and bensonsmum. Thoughts with you two and huge (((hugs))).
