Although I buy walnut pieces for baking I find them too big. My food processor is too quick to reduce them to nearly powder

Do you have a pulse option? If so, try that.
    Warning ..... I'm a peri-menopausal axe-wielding maniac ;)
  • I have a Braun handblender. It has an attachment that is a small herb/nut mill. Pulse option gets nuts either roughly chopped or reduced to a powder, and all between.

There's been loads of discussion on here - PM me if ou can't find a thread.

There is such a thing as a nut chopper here in Australia, not sure if it's available in england, the first time I saw one was at my mother in laws, it looks like this:

You end up with lovely crumb sized pieces, great for carrot cake.

I chopped some yesterday on a chopping board. Use a wide bladed knife. left hand over the point and chop in a semi- circle keeping the point still. I`m no chef but it only took seconds

Thanks all. unfortunately there is no Aldi for miles from here. I have no idea if my food processor has a pulse function - shall have to find the instructions.

I had seen the Swiss one mrs_mix mentioned at Amazon, and wondered if it might be a goer, but I shall investigate the Braun that Penelope Penguin has, as my stick blender died a couple of weeks ago after 25 years and I really miss it. If I can get something that does both jobs that will be great.

Try this page from Argos - I have the one at £29, but they are often available cheaper. It's great for smoothies, eggs, chopping nuts and herbs, soup, breadcrumbs, etc, etc. I use it most weeks and it was worth every penny. There are cheaper and more expensive models on that page, too. Click here.

I was going to suggest one like this, but I didn't have a link to it. I would highly recommend it. I have one I got a while ago, and it's great. I use it all the time.
