Evening :hello:
Well I've spent the day doing as little as possibleI did manage to go £10 over this week's budget on grocery essentials such as milk, Cheddar, spuds and orange juice  but looking at it a bit more logically, it wasn't the essentials which pushed me over, as that's just what they are - essential - I think the 3 takeaway breakfasts and 1 takeaway dinner last week might haave had more to do with it
Need to get cracking on some soups for the freezer - trip to the market yesterday kitted me out with the ingredients for 4 different soups (carrot & coriander, curried parsnip, yellow pepper, leek and potato) and any leftover veg after that lot can be put into a "general" veg soup later in the week!
moggins - fab that you're feeling so positive. For goodness sake EAT SOMETHING while the going is good.
Right, must be off to start cooking. It's important that I prepare a few days' worth of food in advance - I have lots of busy evenings this week and if I don't get my act together I will end up eating takeaways or beans on toast

That's better Moggins. I hope you and OH sort it out but if not .... there's a lot to be said for being a single parent once the dust settles. you can do things at your own pace, and in your own order. there is no one to undermine you with the kids and they do learn that there are different ways with different parents. For example dd asks dad outright for money but when it comes to me she asks if there are any paid jobs she can do.
You can be Queen of the Remote instead of enduring the endless flicking between programmes - that's a man thing isn't it?
There is also the added attraction of Daddy Weekends where you can either catch up with jobs from the week before while singing loudly to your mp3 player or have MegaBubbleBaths followed by DVD Fests.
There's also a lot to be said for eating crisps in bed with a good book - or going to bed with a cheese and pickle sandwich - http://www.mandycoe.com/poems_a.htm - scroll down
done loads today - caught up with some Flying which had gone to pot without the internet to tell me what to do. There's a lentil bolognaise doing delicious smelling things in the slowcooker and I made MankyPeach muffins. I also painted every other stair - the top one of which has two dd shaped footprints in the middle - one going up and one going down  I've also started off some seeds in the propogator (posh word for some plastic fruit trays filled with compost and seeds and another tray balanced precariously on top)
DD has spent a happy afternoon making a dollybedsit out of some of the recycling bits and fabric scraps because i turned the telly off. She is convalescing from her op - well she's fine really but it's very wet and horrid and I don't want her to get a cold or anything. Oh I stand corrected - its not a bedsit its a dollykidsbedroom and no it doesn't need a desk for homework cos its a cool dollykid - well missy even cool kids have to do their homeworkno w**k tomorrow cos i have a week's special leave for dd's convalescence although if it's fine tomorrow we may go to the science museum as she missed a trip at half term
have a lovely evening allI'm going to feed our children non-organic food and with the money saved take them to the zoo - half man half biscuit 20080 -
Hi everyone.
Moggins Your situation is so similar to my friend's.
For her, two and a half years later, she's divorced, managed to stay in the house after borrowing money off her parent's to pay him off (30% of the equity in the house), working part-time and receiving CTC, in charge of her own life. As for her ex, well he's spent most of his pay-off on c****, doesn't bother seeing his two kids and he's re-married (to the woman he denied having an affair with and the gossip is they're not happy!).
My friend was so unhappy when her husband announced he 'wasn't happy' and she 'was boring' and tried everything to save her marriage, including going to Relate. However, she now believes she's well out of it as he wasn't a very good husband or dad.
I really hope that what ever happens, you get back to a state of happiness, but it will take time.0 -
Moggins - you sound a bit more positive tonight! Keep in there girl. You are doing great!
Ami - we saw manatees when visiting my brother in Florida - up near Space Centre. Didn't swim with them but they are such big softies. Wish I had your experience but at least I saw them. Glad you had a great holiday!
Had quite a busy day as DH due back on Friday. His dressing gown is washed, filing is sorted out just to put away. I Thought the shredder was going to pack in at one point! Did other things today. Had a bit of a declutter and went to the tip circa 10.30. I had to queue to get in. Everyone doing a declutter I think!
DD phoned to say DGS 1 doing drawing this afternoon and totally wrote his name without any help! She is taking it to nursery tomorrow for his personal folder as he was only 4 in January and this a great step forward. He has a wee bit of trouble with motor skills. They are not putting him into school this August but keeping back a year which I think will be of great benefit. He is a bright wee button but other things do have to develop. New baby due July so easy option would have been school but he is just not ready!
DGS2 now transitioned to a proper bed! Will cause problems here next time they come as I will need two bed guards the way the beds are. I have a feeling DGS1 wouldn't give way for wee brother!!! Other option is chair bed from loft - will just have to play by ear.
Anyway enough of my family ramblings.
Love and hugs to you all. Welcome to new posters. Belated Happy birthday!

Evening everyone, hope you've all had a good day. Top Gear just had me in stiches, best laugh I've had since erm.... last weeks Top Gear.
Hope everyone is having a good day, good to see you being a bit more positive moggins.
Have managed to catch up on some of my flying that I was too damm lazy to do during the week. Never again, I like having a tidy house, so must keep up next week and hopefully it'll be nice and tidy by next weekend.
Made flapjack again todaySo that should keep the cravings for sweet things away for the week. I think next weekend I might make some biscuits of some kind, not sure what yet.
I got very excited earlier, I looked out of the kitchen window and there was a squirrel in the gardenWe already have lots of birds come to visit, but never a squirrel.
Hugs to everyone.Debts: Mum £3923 0% APR0 -
Moggins, pleased to hear you sounding more positive. Good luck with the job hunting, keep smiling, thinking of you
Well ended up going out with DP and taking both boys, the boys got a little bored so we also had a wander around a garden centre and got some more seeds for DS2, then to his Dad's who is getting rid of a greenhouse etc and DS2 got some seed tray, happy little green fingered bunny today! Then to drop some wheels off we were selling, so I've got next to nothing done. But of course noone home all day = less mess.
Going to measure the furniture and rooms tomorrow then decide with DP if we should swap bedrooms round. Off to bed soon as feeling shattered and late nights made last week hell! Hugs to those who need them, hope you've all had a good day.One day I might be more organised...........

Agree with you Shirley about Top Gear. It is the only programme we all make an effort to watch every week. Me, OH & DS (11) are usually in stitches. Best comedy show on TV IMHO.
Had a good day today. I needed a new frying pan as my previous one was thin, warped and not non-stick any more. I think it cost me about £2.99 in Wilko's years ago so it has done its job. I bought a new one in TJ Hughes this afternoon - £8.99. Super non-stick and flat, with a weighty base. Tried it out tonight with teryaki tuna. Brilliant!
DS needed new trainers for cricket which had to have non-marking soles as training is indoors at the moment. Managed to get some for £10 from JJB, which was a bargain. He has awkwardly-shaped feet so buying footwear is always a problem for him. He had a great time at cricket training too. It was his first session and he was apprehensive at the start but soon got going and made some new friends so he will be going again next week.
I'm still on the healthy eating plan and haven't deviated once so I'm feeling very pleased with myself.
Nighty night all!

Comedy and cars all in one, who can go wrong with Top Gear, downside being series don't last long enough! You know it's good when the repeats on UkGold etc still make you laugh!
Can you tell I love Top GearOne day I might be more organised...........

i'm another Top Gear fan, have even got my OH into it (he couldn't believe it when we first met and i loved it!
had a bit of a funny day, kept crying spontaneously til mid aft!!! think just tired and hormonal, watched 'Eternal sunshine of the spotless mind' this aft which was good, very clever really, though a bit chaotic for me - i find things like that quite stressful, similar to when there is chaos or mess or lots of people talking at once (does that mean i'm autistic or somethign?)
OH has gone to bed (seperate rooms for us as we're at his parents!) and i'm tucked up in bed surfing here before reading a chapter or two. then hopefully more sleep than last night (woke up around 2 and was awake from 4-6 i reckon)
