Hi, thanks MCI, hope you're OK.

Just popped in to report a £10 OP from S&S surveys. Chose a PCworld voucher this time - saving for a steam generator iron.

Struggling a bit to get motivated at the minute - probably due to trying to work out how to pay for the furniture that's on the credit card, the girls school trips & the money DH spent on me for Christmas (I was rather spoilt!). We do have savings but they're offset and I HATE using them!

Hi, long time no post! Sorry just caught up in work and kids. Also can't get the mojo to post about everyday spending as it's just depressing me!

Payday today - usual £300 OP made and £5.60 from spending on a gift card. Mortgage balance now £95792.59, knocked another month off - now February 2030:j.

Didn't move the usual £180 to holiday pot, instead put £192.55 into pots for girls school trips. They are now full and I don't have to find money from somewhere else. We're not having a big holiday this year so we won't miss it.

£75 moved to Xmas pot, and £14.75 to car tax.

Also £100 moved to 'London day trip' pot as we have 3 days in London this month. 1st to see Taylor Swift, 2nd to see Charlie & the Chocolate Factory (xmas gift from my mum) and 3rd for a cooking lesson with James Martin (xmas gift from DH).

Think that's it - my posh wing chair has arrived from N£xt today so I'll mainly be relaxing in that this weekend!

School trips; a lovely idea but the trips that have run from my kid's local secondary school have been China (£1600), skiing (£900), World challenge trip £1400, trip to WWII battlefields 3 days £297.

All of course have merit, but if we want a family holiday we have had to say no to most of these. Luckily we have scouts and the trips here are half the price so represent excellent value for money.

So good idea to save for these things if you want your children to go.

    Good luck!

:wave:Hi MCI & Tootoo, and nice to see you Arkers.

We haven't had the really big trips yet, 14yo is going on the 3 days battlefields one - £290. I thought it would be a good experience - she went to Poland/Auschwitz last year. The 11yo is going on a 3 day pgl trip - £240 (although in reality 48 hrs). That's kind of a big adventure before they all go separate ways to senior school.

One is a scout, the other an explorer/young leader and I'm waiting to find out when their camps are as I don't want them to miss out. At this rate we'll leave it too late to book a family holiday!

I think I'd have to say no to the really big ones - that's the price of a family holiday:eek:.

£10 OP made from 1psos surveys.

£32 spent in dunh31m on curtain holdbacks, £18 spent on books DD1 needed for GCSE eng lit & £20 on takeaway Saturday night.

Went for a lovely muddy walk at local park yesterday in the sunshine and also spent £5 on hot drinks.

DD1 has now given up swimming club, making me £30 a month better off, I've upped her allowance by £10 as I feel I was asking a lot of the £20 she got. But she has to save £5 of it into a separate account.

I took her swimming on Saturday morning, £2.10 for her & £1.50 for the car park, but I was free with my gym membership. I really ought to go more often as I really enjoyed it. I've re-started the Couch to 5K programme and finish week 4 tonight. Along with eating more healthily I am feeling the benefits (belt on jeans does up comfortably 1 notch tighter:j)

Mortgage Interest Day! - Interest added of £273.40, offset saving of £55.40. Balance now £95378.99.

The offset savings may not continue for too much longer as DH is looking for money to invest at work for a new dealership. We'll get the money back in the long run, but meanwhile I pay more on my mortgage:(. Still we need to keep the business growing and that's better for us in the long run too. It just seems the minute we get any money together it goes.:(
