Food shopping came to £95 - £5 over budget, but a lot less than the £40ish that DH wanted to spend on a takeaway for friends on sat night.

Gorgeous weather at the weekend, lots of housework and ironing done. Feel very positive and ready for the week ahead.

    Gym visit yesterday - 3/10.

£5 over budget or £40 blow on one evening meal - no brainer to me!

    Hope DD feels better soon.

Yes it was a no brainer to me as well! But I struggle to say no to DH as he works so hard and rarely asks for any money.

Thanks MRN & MCI for your thoughts for DD1, she felt better later this morning and went to school. She hates missing anything at school and only had 1 day off all last year. She was still trying to go in early on but I made her stay home until I was sure she was OK.

Found it a little worrying though that I couldn't get through to school, nor had they phoned me to see where she was by 10.45. It is a senior school but surely they still follow up on absences?

£3 OPd from *rgos vouchers received from gfk.

Just received free sample of face wash for DD1 to try out. Will earn £5 voucher which she has suggested I put towards the TV I'm saving for for her room.

Have been talking to my old job this week about my replacement. She hasn't worked out and I've still been going in sorting stuff out. I'm covering for the next 2 weeks for her holiday, but I think she'll be leaving friday anyway.

It looks like I'll be going back and covering the job on top of the 4 days I do for DH. It'll mean a lot of working from home. The idea is that eventually they get an administrator in the do most of the tedious stuff and I'll just do 1 day checking and processing.

If we can agree that I'll continue on the new higher rate, and I feel I have some leverage here, then I should bring home between £75 & £120 per week extra depending on amount of hours.

For now though I'm saving for a new log burner for the lounge. Saw a gorgeous cream one when we were away earlier in the summer. Ours is so large and inefficient, I'll try & e-bay it though. Someone will buy it I'm sure.

Oh, and insurance have paid out £569 for DD2s bedroom. Sure that an excess of £400 should be deducted. I have pointed this out already. Will bank and put aside in case they come asking for it.

£14 earnt last week from 'old job' - OPd today. £42.02/£80

Gym visit last night - 5/10

Halfway through month and targets halfway reached.

Had another @sda £10 off online shopping voucher, so have placed my order. Even with £4.50 delivery I am over £20 under budget - to be added to holiday clothes fund.

Doing online shop I only buy what we need rather than what I fancy as I walk round.

Online shop came to £70 so £20 transferred to holiday clothes pot. £20/£250.

Didn't go to gym this morning as planned as felt tired & under the weather:(

Had to meet old boss for lunch, turns out person who tookover my job has upped and left. I was due for cover for the next 2 weeks anyway, but now appear to be covering indefinetly. I have said I can't do this permanently - after all I left to work 4 days for DH, and a better more flexible work/life balance during school hols.

I will earn about £120 per week extra, I don't want to get used to this so I will be saving £75 a week for a new cream log burner I have my eye on, then depending on needs OPing balance or put it towards another 'pot'.

I may have to take a couple of fridays of DH job so may have to use some to make up that shortfall. Will work it out every week as I go along.

    Cream woodburner sounds lurrrrvly:)

    Fortune x

I know, we have a HUUUUGE old black one at the mo, which is very inefficient, but we hadn't thought about replacing until we went on holiday and there was a beautiful cream one which chucked out loads of heat. So I set my heart on one, and now I have some unexpected income to save for one with.

Sun is out so hopefully if lasts all weekend.
