    new lawn mower (£139

Really?! Is this to replace a broken one that can't be repaired? If so I'd recommend selling the broken one for spares and seeing if you can get a functioning mower from freecycle or cheaper second hand.

I know it seems a bit steep, but we 'inherited' a petrol one with the house 5 years ago which hasn't cost us a thing since. We were given another one the same but my mechanic husband was still unable to make 1 from 2.

He has insisted on having another petrol one, we do have a large lawn with a lot of trees to navigate so it does make the job a lot easier.

We were probably well overdue having to invest in one, it was just another added cost this month we could have done without.

Glad you are feeling better this week.

Selling the broken mower for spares is a good idea - at least you will get something towards the new one.

    Take care.

Well that's even better... you have two to sell for spares! Just don't tell them that a working one isn't possible from the broken two!!!

Oh if only - DH had a bit (a lot!) of a temper tantrum when he couldn't get either of them to work so ended up chucking them both in the skip at work!! He can act a bit like a toddler at times, although he has been under a lot of stress recently.

It didn't occur to me to sell them as spares, TBH I was trying to stay out of the way!!!

Our grass which was at least a foot high now looks like a lawn - although I quite liked the meadow look!!

Oh well, you win some you lose some. Probably best to move on from this and not bring it up then.

£10 *rgos voucher received from S&S - OPd.

£10 *rgos voucher claimed from VO - will OP when it arrives.

DD2 has now started mvivng back into her bedroom. She has a carpet, bed & TV, but would not sleep in there last night as no cutains up yet. Mind you barely seen her since carpet went down yesterday afternoon. She's so glad to get her own space back.

Off tomorrow for a night away in Portsmouth to visit historic dockyard with friends. Night in P Inn cost £50, plus meal out and entry - be nice to get away from work/house if only for a night.

Hope everyone has a nice weekend and the sun shines for you.

    Hope you enjoy Portsmouth.

Last time I went there was years ago and we only went for a night out - so didn't see the sights. Something I'd really like to do.

Our very short weekend away in Portsmouth was very enjoyable if a little (lot) expensive. £250 now missing from holiday pot. Visited Historic Docks, played lasertag, went up Spinnaker Tower and had lovely meal out. Packed a lot into 2 days.

DH is now at home with DD2 trying to finish her bedroom and get her moved back in tonight. Then we've threatened to 'sort out' DD1s bombsite of a bedroom. Black rubbish bags were mentioned!

Payday is still a week away - hope I can last that long.
