Just caught up with your diary! You are like me - in the evenings (after the house work is done) I half watch TV and do surveys at the same time :). It takes a while, but it soon builds up and I tend to redeem from a couple of sites each month, so that I always have a month where I can get a payout.

    Hi Sweetdaisy,

They do take their time but it kinda feels like free money when i'd only be blankly watching telly anyway.

Interest of £231.10 for last month added today, and standard payment of £677 made. Have knocked off 1 month now from start of mortgage 2 months ago.:j

The extra borrowed for the company building is still sitting in offset though so we're not paying interest on it yet, so future interest charges will be higher:(.

I base our finish date on having no offset at all because I can't guarantee the level of the offset money staying the same. The offset then is a bonus where we pay less interest. I also want to start making overpayments against the actual mortgage as well from the end of this month. If I left it in offset I'd be wanting to spend it!!. If it's gone it's gone!!

    1) Pile of mending & sewing - Done
    2) HUUUGE pile of ironing - Only half done - rest today hopefully
    3) Bake birthday cake for niece - Done
    4) Bake Chocolate Mousses cake for visitors for sunday lunch - Done & looks delish.
    5) Some work bought home to do to catch up with. - Not even looked at & more bought home by DH.
Food shopping today & only £2 over budget. However this does not include going out for dinner tonight with family for nieces birthday or DH taking DDs & friends to McDs on Friday.

TV bought for bedroom with cash we were given for Xmas & vouchers saved from surveys (value of which was OPd). Cost us £10.98. That I like, although why DH had to have a 32" DVD combi just for bedroom I don't know.

It's unusable until man comes to fit freeview aerial on Friday. We've only had Sky since they turned off the analogue. DDs will finally be able to watch irritating kids TV in their rooms (sorry room - they are still sharing for the foreseeable future until water damage gets fixed).

Up early this morning to decorate MOshi MOnster cake - it's called Wallop apparently - and I'm really pleased with it.

List of jobs still to do for today:

    1) Finish Ironing
    2) Visit goddaughter for her 18th
    3) Finish work bought home for Jobs 1 & 2

All before swimming party at 4.30pm.

Better get off here and start......

Hi, I've been a long time lurker on this board and have now decided to take the plunge and start my own diary. The main reason for this is we completed our re-mortgage on Friday 21/4.

We were half way through a 10year fixed rate at 5.68% when we decided that we would be better off to pay the ERC of approx £2600 and re-mortgage at a lower rate. At the same time we also need to raise £24k to put down as a deposit on a commercial building for my husband's company. It seemed a good time therefore to re-mortgage.

When we approached our bank to suggest this we were told we could pay the ERC but we would have to re-mortgage elsewhere. Once we'd got over the shock of them giving our business away, we have now re-mortgaged with an Offset Mortgage at 4% over 20 years. At the moment we have borrowed £89284.57, with the facility to increase to £112,000 when we need the extra.

We have become used to overpaying over the last year or so, and have now budgeted an extra £300 per month for overpayments. According to my very simple spreadsheet this will pay the mortgage off 9 years early, so I still need to knock off an extra year.

Our initial target once we have borrowed the extra is to get back down to £86,000, where we were before we remortgaged and borrowed it. My spreadsheet calculates this as being in 3 years time.

I also do surveys and anything I earn from these also goes to the mortgage, with the voucher value being taken from birthday/xmas savings.

By the way, our family unit consists of me, my DH and 2 DD. My husband is a partner in his own business, and I work 2 part time jobs.

If you're still reading - sorry for the long first post, wanted to get the history and reasons for doing this down for myself more than anything!

    Hello friends,

Thanks for sharing your mortgage at a lower rate information, Extremely I am highly appreciated here.

    Sincerely and best regards
    Kynthia

£10 OPd from VO vouchers for *mazon. Need to start building that up for Xmas now after emptying it for DD1s birthday.

Had a very busy weekend & very busy at work as now training someone to take over when I leave next week. Not sure she'll work out, am half expecting a panic call in a few weeks to get me in to cover. We'll see.

Plumber cost me £109 to fix the leaky pipes, quote from plasterer came in at over £2k - hopefully insurance will cover it. That's for fixing wall in DD2 bedroom, removing and replacing plasterboad & tiles in shower room and kitchen ceiling so thought it was reasonable.

DH going to but new radiator for DD2 room as we're moving it from under the window to behing door (with a springy thing to stop the door bashing) to free up space to put bed in a better position. Plasterer coming Monday to fix her room rather than wait for insurance as I just need to get her back in there asap.

Very stressed at the minute with everything going on at work & home, keep feeling like the least little thing will set me off - hopefully it'll settle down when i'm only trying to do 1 job.

3 hours extra work completed last week so £14.40 OPd from wages today.

£5 B00ts voucher received from gfk today so OPd as well.

Radiator cost £36.99, along with a roll of film for £12 to cover my brand new hall carpet while workmen in tomorrow.

We've got plumber coming in to move radiator in DD2s bedroom, Aeriel fitters to put up freeview aerial and 5 points, and new french doors being fitted. All budgeted and saved for.

DH took day off work to help out and spend day together, then I was asked to work tomorrow morning so leaving him to it!!!

Busy day ahead but hopefully get a lot of jobs fixed and ticked off my ever growing list.
