bubblesmoney, great post, really useful, thanks. I'm really leaning towards the note, as long as I can convince myself that it's practically usable, portable and pocketable enough to be used as an everyday phone . I'm getting there and your links are helping.

I would suggest the iPhone 4S because the Galaxy note is a tablet along with a smartphone on once device. It is quite large and is quite uncomfortable while calling.

iPhone 4S, Siri and its functions are quite amazing according to me.

    iPhone 4S > Galaxy Note

All your opinion. Mine is that the Note is extremely easy to use, not too large for me at all and definitely better than the iPhone 4S.

Don't take him seriously. He is just "a soon to be spammer" building his post count with random pointless posts.
He seems to think that sticking to one post per a day will help him to stay under radar.

It has its negative points too. Lag is sometimes senn especially when you have loads of apps like me, but most people wont have 300+ apps on the phone like me with nearly full 32gb card. I have some 300+ apps and at one point had about 370. Apps2sd move can be frustrating as asfter moving quite a few (i dont know the exact number) then sd move can be faulty leading to reboot loops, see posts on xda forum about these issues. BUt can be sorted by manually moving apps slowly to card and limiting number of apps moved. It gets dodgy when more than 40 or so apps moved. Internal memory partition available for apps is big, about 1.9gb of which about 1.7mb is practically available for app which should be enough for most people. For example most other phones allow only about 1.1 GB for apps Eg HTC sensation etc. When you hit about 200mb free internal memory then you get memory alerts and phone freezes over at about 190mb free. Unlike the HTC desire which would work fine till about 4mb free on 2.1 android and 15mb free on 2.2 android. BUt the desire had only 147mb available for apps so you have more than 10times the internal memory available for apps anyway.

USB OTG feature can be flaky at times.

Lag can be annoying when phone is bloated with apps. Battery life is mostly good with videos, camera, video camera etc but not that great while browsing on white background due to higher power use of amoled for white. But dolphin browser can invert colours for browser and have heard ICS browser can do that as well so time for browsing will improve. Stock file manager is lousy atleast on my note and takes ages always, so i use other file manager by gannicus or sandisk memory management app.

it has its issues but still a great device for browsing / videos / sat nav / skype video chats / video camera for basic use (dont expect to replace a stand alone camera). I dont use my regular camera anymore and wont be buying a video camera as am reasonably happy with the one on the note. Frame grabber (sony) app and camera zoom fx etc among many others have good features but stock app is good as well.

spen features are ok but has its issues, there are third party apps as well but i dont use it much, but might buy the 10.1 note for my child when launched for her doodling. spen functionality will improve with the premium suite coming with ICS for the note as promised and demoed by samsung on youtube.

official flip case is useful for me but has issues. The flip case will slightly increase size and causes difficulty fitting in official car dock and official desk dock. But desk dock cant output data anyway so useless for me. I have got local unbranded carmount that fits the note well and cheaper, so not bothered about official mount, although official one looks slicker.

But inspite of its issues it is a great device for regular use like browsing (unbeatable in my opinion among present devices) because of size. You usually dont have to zoom even full desktop websites in landscape mode. Youtube HQ videos look great too. watching videos is great. Phone is good too once you get used to size. If you use flip case then you will need to get used to holding phone and opening flip case for receiving calls. BUt i prefer flip case as it protects screen and i dont like screen protectors and it barely increases size of phone. i have accidentally dropped phone many times, sometimes with screen falling flat on hard floor and flip case protected screen atleast till now. But flip case gets frayed at edges as can be seen by many online reports, mine has just started fraying but i would still buy another flip case instead of any other case as i prefer the screen security and it looks nice too. I initially found opening the flip case for receiving calls cumbersome but can now do it one handed as am used to the device.

I usually keep it in my shirt pocket but have kept it at times in my trouser pockets as well and havent found the size an issue. Some might feel self conscious using the device as a phone but i dont give a damn as i like the device. Most people i know have been very positive about the device after seeing it with me except one person who hated the size.

No matter how much you want the phone, when you open the box for the first time, be prepared for a !!!! what have a bought moment when you open the box and see the phone filling the entire box. Once you switch it on and watch the video by samsung on the phone showing the jelly fish etc be prepared to look derisively at your older phone as no other phone will feel the same after a few days.

I wont be going back to smaller screens anytime soon. But might buy an S3 for my wife. My 3y old child prefers my note over my older desire too as i dont see her asking to use the desire but she asks to play games or watch videos on my note.

Thanks. I don't see memory for apps being an issue as I've been using a Desire for the past two years plus and although I've hit the memory limit, I don't see myself running with 10x the apps I use now. Memory card will be mainly for music (32GB and 64GB when affordable if the Note supports?).

Thanks for mentioning cases. I hadn't considered that, but my Desire has spent most of its life in a silicon bumper case (apart from the once I took it out to take the battery out when a rogue app hung it and I dropped it on a tiled floor and scratched the screen - argh! - is the Note screen gorilla glass?) I hadn't twigged, but any case is going to make a big device bigger - even slightly. I must check out the flip case you mentioned.

For me the biggest negative of the Note is that the back is quite slippery and I worried about it sliding from my hand, so I have put it in a silicone case. Yes it increases the size a bit but I didn't want to spend the money on the official flip case/battery back in case it's the same.

It apparently has gorilla glass (http://www.corninggorillaglass.com/products-with-gorilla/full-products-list) but I have a thin screen protector on it just in case...
