    I have both phones :D
I use the Galaxy Note for work and the Iphone 4s for personal use.
I would'nt like to have to choose between the two, as they are both very different, but they both have their advantages and disadvantages

    IPhone 4s
Advantages - Easy to use and navigate, fits into a pocket, has an 'Apple' on the back :rotfl:
Disadvantages - limited as to what you can download, small screen, battery life isn't brill.

    Galaxy Note
Advantages - Large screen, loads of apps available, stylus pen, good battery life
Disadvantages - You can't wear skinny jeans :p

Like others have said, i would go into a shop and have a look at them both first. The Galaxy does not appeal to eveyone because of its size, but if you can overcome that, its a brilliant phone.

I am almost certainly going to go for the Samsung Note instead of the HTC One X when my IP3GS contract expires next month. The first challenge is to get PAC from Three so I can port number to O2 to take advantage of the £5 discount on my O2 Home Broadband. Also the O2 tariffs for the Note are better than Three so win win.

Also when I did the online Chat on the O2 website they offered me a £50 discount so gets even better.

The Note is the only phone currently available with a high resolution screen and a memory card slot unfortunately. At least, until the Galaxy S3 launches (possibly). Anyone considering an iPhone or the newer HTCs needs to be sure that the memory the phone comes with will meet their needs for the duration of the contract. You cannot add more.

But it doesn't have a high resolution screen. 800x480 is pretty run of the mill by today's standards.

LG Nitro HD is 720 x 1280 and has microSD. Released in Dec, but not available in UK yet (will it ever be?). Costs $400 on ebay.

You can also wait for the Samsung Galaxy S3 or consider the HTC One V, S or X.
the most important factor that you need to consider is the software itself. iOS is so simple and elegant, brilliant for simple users.
The Android ICS 4.0 is a whole different ball game. The Note still has 2.3 (Gingerbread) unless you buy an unlocked one.
    Think about that!

I have been using a Note for about 4months now. I was wary about the size. But you get used to the size in a few days and i just cant think of going back to a smaller screen now. When i use my wifes HTC desire or anyone elses phone (including the SGS2 or iphone) it looks like a toy phone. But thats just me, some might not like the size of the note. Initially the size was a shock to me as well but its just great now.

for iphone vs android see last few videos on this post and make up your mind what suits you best or see loads more youtube videos by others.

If you need to use skinny jeans with phone in the pocket, then the note is not for you. But i keep it in my shirt pocket or trouser pocket / jeans front pocket. You could easily keep it in a jacket pocket too.

But if you want great voice quality, noise cancellation, skype video chats on 3g or wifi, swyping instead of typing (just great), free google navigation (data charge if you dont have an appropriate data plan), good camera and video camera, good battery life (but battery life depends on phone signal strength and what you do with the phone), great screen (even iphone4s owning colleagues tell me that), can use LED as emergency torch, can use USB OTG features to connect flash drives / mouse / hard drives with external power etc, can use MHL features to display to large screen TV or projector, S-Pen is useful if you need an intelligent pen input device. It is not one of those lousy capacitative pens that you see for other devices. It is a wacom digitiser pen so much more accurate.

will link some detailed reviews and comparisons for you

EXTREME MULTITASKING on the note http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SReBbjOwvlU&feature=plcp you can actually do more multitasking than shown in the video by using aircalc app that is a calculator used similar to the stickit and overskreen apps shown.

using it as a computer http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fs0FcppJ_tw&feature=plcp

also linking an iphone and android comparison for you as you are wondering what to buy. the phone used is a galaxy nexus and 2y old samsung captivate but no reason why the Note cant do stuff shown on the video comparisons. see

see other videos in the series if interested on youtube.

ps: the SGS3 will be announced on may3 and probably released very soon after. so watch that space as well if you need a smaller phone than the note.

The note is due to get an update to ICS android 4.0 soon as promised by samsung plus additional some (not all of the note 10.1 features) added features coming as described for the samsung galaxy note 10.1 see videos of youtube or elsewhere showing the new features.

    Ps:
Camera - i just use the note camera now for videos and photos and dont use my olympus camera anymore as it is bulky. when having a child and on day trips, i use the photos or recently just videos with screen in low brightness and can last me for day trips (if used sensibly) shooting videos most of the day. I use sony frame grabber app for taking any photos off the video clip. so dont take photos now unless i really want to.

You can use a 64gb card (microsdxc) if you want see youtube videos by nztechfreak on how to use it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yYUg14u_co8

you can record off FM radio on the note too!

gps is awesome and i dont use my tomtom or inbuilt toyota or nissan navigation anymore as google navigation is better. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=arOYNNux_mg

sorry for the many edits above, but was just posting a few useful (in my opinion) extra videos which might show some useful tricks with the note or android devices that many might not be aware about. Please note most of it can be done without rooting your phones. So anyone with android phones can do them if your phone has USB OTG and MHL features and is not low spec cpu gpu etc.

Appreciate the time you've taken in putting that thead together. I have to admit that you're preaching to the converted here as I had already decided that the Note will be my next phone but it was very useful to have all those links in one place. Thanks.
