After cooling down we thought we would give them another try. No way!!!!!!!! they told us yet more lies when we went to ask about properties and what was being built, a different story from the last time we spoke to them. we just couldn't trust them even if they were selling affordable homes that we could afford. we were told by a local that the affordable homes will come last and they will be around 150 thousand, which is not cheap! I could buy a detached home for that price, if we had the money and i know what we would choose!!! now we are feeling mad about the whole thing again and won't touch taylor wimpey with a hundred foot barge pole. we have seen two properties we like which are sem-detached and have a garage. so much better than some terrace with allocated parking as its main feature. i bet that new estate will be all nice until they build behind the expensive houses where they say there are newts. i would imagine by some miracle the newts will disapear and so will the nice view enjoyed by the first people to buy, who will think they are getting a safe view for the rest of their days. i just couldn't count the amount of silly thngs said by the sales people there, it was so obvious they knew exactly what was going to happen on that estate but they dare not say anything so sound really dubious. i even asked them if taylor wimpey had a good reputation and said it was one of the best. hahaaaaaa but i have read otherwise and am walking away.

    I agree completely with Ankspon.
I too recently had a sound test done via Taylor Wimpey, as I constantly hear neighbour walking from room to room. In fact you would think that I am living in a house and people were walking across the bedroom. Its acceptable in a house but not an apartment!!!
I too can hear everything from doors opening / closing, wardrobes being open / closed. Kitchen doors opened, beds squeaking and people walking across various rooms.
There are numerous residents on site who have exactly the same concern. In fact it is a known concern on other sites in the borough! Shocking!
Have approached Taylor Wimpey and they referred me to NHBC. Eventually after a fight and months later testing was reluctantly carried out by a company that Taylor Wimpey suggested.
Suprise, suprise the test proved successful as it met the spec and National Standards.
KEEP AWAY FROM TAYLOR WIMPEY AND NHBC AS THEY WORK TOGETHER AND THERE IS NO AFTERSALES SUPPORT - YOU ARE SIMPLY ON YOUR OWN DESPITE ALL THE WARRANTIES THAT YOU HAVE IN YOUR NEW BUILD PACK.

Hang on a second! Why don't you just hire your own sound consultant? Someone who will look at it from your side and you know is not biased against you.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

Keep in mind with most new homes they subby all the tradesmen, so quality will be very variable, with things tight to work fast and cheap you can probably guess what you could end up with......
  • I live in a Taylor Wimpey house and have no problems, was given a customer care number when we moved in and rung it once and they sent someone quickly. Also find that a good relationship with sales and the site manager helps when u need something eg paint, something looked at. We bought because they were a reputable company, and offered really good incentives. Hope that helps :)
Still here..... but working on that!

I would rather not have an inflated price and small dimensions just to get those costly incentives.

We did ask if there would be much noise coming from attached houses and they said it had never been a problem they have heard of, just that anything very loud would be heard. When we went to see homes on moorhead gardens in warton, you could hear some noise from next door, but then i would imagine we will have to put up with that as we can't afford detached.......i wish we could! taylor wimpey did say the NHBC warranty would cover us and that they warranty their homes too. although they say for 2 years and in that time they are still going to be building homes there on meadows view. so some people won't be able to claim on the taylor wimpey warranty, but will see them building everyday. now i know why they are building the affordable homeslast, beggars not being choosers springs to mind! I read a few nasty stories about the NHBC warranty online and some have said it is not worth the paper it is writen on, as they always side with the builder. A bit like the ombudsman will side with the company who pays to be with them. It doesn't sound right to me, i have seen those programs about homes from hell and have seen peoples lives destroyed by having a home not worth its value and not being able to sell. we would have to have a large mortgage, which we would not be able to afford to pay off if we could not sell the house we buy. now we are more cautious and will try to buy a home which we can more comfortably afford. we didn't want an ex-council property but funny enough, the room dimentions are better and a lot of them have been made really nice withnew kitchens etc. I do feel like we have had a lucky escpae, i bet they are busy selling the most expensive properties as fast as they can. last time we were there they were trying to talk a couple into taking their part exchange deal, they even asked us if we were interested in that. but they rip people off big time with the part exchange! I think these house builders like taylor wipmey put people in negative equity and don't give a damn, which is not nice. If we move to Warton i bet we will hear all about the troubles with taylor wimpey and will feel even more glad we didn't buy. :D

Taylor Wimpey are trying to cut a 200 year old tree down at another site. Residents are petitioning to stop them from cutting it down.

If there are endangered newts at the Warton site, this won't get in their way at all.

I would imagine they will mysteriously die along with the ancient tree at Helmshore, Lancashire.
